Sure, it may happen for you in table tennis.
i think this FRA athlete with IND roots will play well in Paris. I like her very much , i will cheer on her unless she plays sb from POL

rafalgorka reacted to Nickyc707 in A good chance for a medal in Paris in a sport or an event that your NOC had no olympic medal before.
For perhaps Toby Roberts in sport climbing. He's currently no.2 in the boulder and lead world rankings and gained a quota at the recent European qualifier by a comfortable margin. He's still only eighteen and improving rapidlly.
It's a bit of a cop out given it's only the sport's second appearance at the OG. Anyway it definitely won't be in artistic swimming, basketball, breaking, rhythmic gymnastics, handball, surfing, table tennis or volleyball which are the other sports in which they've never won a medal.

Kimberley Le Court de Billot won the Women’s Cape Epic along with her teammate Vera Looser . They had a handy 30+ minutes margin over the second place team in the general classification, who had some mechanical and injury issues.
Le Court took a bronze medal on the road earlier this year in the women’s time trial at the African Road Cycling Championships. She came top 10 in the road race as well. She was also one of only five riders to complete the women’s cross country race in mountain biking at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Definitely a rider with a shot of qualifying in mountain biking, but she’ll need to beat the South Africans or hope one of them qualifies by world ranking.
cycling is arguably in a good place at the continental level. There is a fair chance they get a women’s road cycling quota, but that would likely go to Aurelie Halbwachs.

Trying to bring some life back into this thread.
Myles Amine won silver at the European Wrestling Championships (M -86kg Freestyle) losing to Greece’s Dauren Kurugliev by VPO1 3-1 in the final.
Amine is a Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medalist, a gold medalist at the Budapest 2022 European Championships, a bronze medalist at the Minsk 2019 European Games, a gold medalist at the 2022 Oran Mediterranean Games, and achieved a 5th place finish the Nur-Sultan 2019 Worlds, and an 8th place finish at the Belgrade 2022 Worlds.
Amine will have three opportunities to qualify for Paris 2024. His first will come at the Belgrade World Championships (Sep 16-24, 2023), his second will come at the 2024 European Qualification Tournament (Location TBD, expected to be held from April 4-7, 2024.), and his third and final chance will come at the Final Olympic Qualification Tournament (Location TBD, expected to be held from May 9-12, 2024.)
For Amine, if he keeps this up I would think qualification is almost guaranteed, and it’s more-so a question of “When will he qualify for the Olympics and can he get back on that podium” rather than “Will he qualify for the Olympics”.

Manami Iijima places 9th out of 16 at the Africa Triathlon Cup event at Swakopmund, Namibia.
Earlier this year, she participated at the Oceania Triathlon Cup race at Taupo, New Zealand where she took 12th out of 25 finishers.
Iijima has a World Ranking of 263 and is currently on the Start List for the next Africa Cup event in Zimbabwe on Saturday.

I’ll provide updates on San Marino here every once in a while
Before the 2020 Olympics, San Marino had never won an Olympic medal. In Tokyo, things changed, and they managed to win TWO medals at Tokyo in shooting (Silver- Mixed Trap, Bronze- Women’s). Although the mixed trap event will be removed for the Paris 2024 Olympics, they should have two chances at the podium in men’s/women’s trap, along with Myles Amine in men’s 86kg wrestling.

This is a great idea! I will go with Barbados because the sweatshirt pictured here is one of my favourite pieces of clothing I have ever owned- it was sold here alongside Team Canada gear at the then-official outfitter in 2004.

This thread is all about throwing some good ole’ Totallympics support behind smaller and lesser known NOCs during the qualification period and Games-time competitions at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games. Below you can find the suggested rules/guidelines for this thread.
What determines if a NOC is small and/or lesser known? For the purpose of this thread, we will support countries without an active user, club, or following on Totallympics. The list of NOCs eligible for universality quotas would be a good place to select your new favorite teams from. Of course, users are welcome to propose other nations they think fit the criteria as well.
How should a user choose a nation(s) to support? Users can choose two or three NOCs they’d like to support and provide updates on to start this thread. It would be nice if we could have users dedicated to following a certain NOC, so please try to avoid doubling up. Perhaps it would be wise indicate a first preference, second preference, etc. when choosing the nations you wish to support. Of course, users are welcome to support only a single NOC as well. Users could also support NOCs they feel aren’t getting enough attention still. There will be a list kept on the first post of this thread to help keep the thread organized as to which user is supporting which NOC(s).
What should users post as a supporter of a nation? That’s mainly up to the user. Some suggestions would be some background info about your country, perhaps the history of your country at the Olympic Games, articles and other fun/interesting info about the athletes trying to qualify for or participating at the Games, updates/reminders/results for perspective/participating athletes, various multimedia (athlete/delegation social media posts, photos, etc.), and any other information of interest.
If any other issues or clarifications about the thread are needed, they’ll be added to this post.

rafalgorka reacted to MHSN in Wrestling Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024
if wrestling was easy to predict by just looking at some ranking or some old results. it would be as boring as swimming.
there is no accurate ranking (American websites do good sometimes in making freestyle rankings but they are not free to read). finishing 7-10 in the Worlds doesn't really mean anything. that's based on classification points (which usually means how many weak wrestlers you met)
Continental results are not irrelevant but Asian Games was way too close to the World Champs and some big names had to sit out, also some wrestlers prefer to compete in non-Olympic weights in other years. Olympic Qualifier will be a completely different beast with some guys switching weights and some countries hiring new Russian mercenary wrestlers.

Yep u are right.. we are lagging in quality coaching & training. For example kor fed hav only 2k registered archer while ind have 10k ..but in future i m sure about 15-20 medal mark .. shooting rifle /pistol future is Great here & we can go tow to tow with 🇨🇳 around 5-6 medals ..
Other than shooting Athletics field events, women’s wrestling, women’s boxing, archery are the sports where ind can become strong medal contender ..
