heywoodu reacted to Agger in Doping Cases and Bans 2018 Thread
Yeah. He says that his results aren't that surprising as he has been strong the last weeks and that it's okay that he's there. Then he adds that we'll see in 4 years if there'll be any stories.

That's really not what he said. You shouldn't take too much of an extract of a translation of a translation:
In french:
In short: "Russia has history, so we have hard time to trust them. Myself, I trust them, it's a new generation, we want to beleive they are clean. Yet, we have to wait, as doping stories allways come out afterward."
Which to me doesn't sound neither stupid nor sore loser like.
Besides, OEB is probably the last one anyone would want to hear speaking about doping...

The story of these Olympics: busy times in part one of the day, then hours of nothing (or a group match or something), and then a ton of stuff all at the same time, planned in such a way that 2-3-4 sets of medals are decided at almost the same moment.

Alpine skiing
Mixed feelings about favourites crashing out, but then again, that's part of being good when it counts and they didn't deliver. Myhrer did, and the veteran winning Olympic gold (right when the Swedish king was sitting there!) was awesome. So was Zenhäusern on the podium.
Not much feels about the women's combined. Nice that Gisin won, nothing against Shiffrin and Holdener neither, but it wasn't very dramatic or anything, just another race.
Biathlon
This women's relay was one of the highlights of the Games without a doubt. Most favourites in trouble, a billion underdogs fighting for the medals and one going home with the gold. It'd have been perfect if Poland and Slovakia made it to the podium, but looking back at this race, my thoughts are mostly this:
Freestyle skiing
Cool final in the halfpipe, never watched it before but this is a lot of fun and some of the runs were just awesome. Second NZL medal of the day made it perfect.
Ice hockey
Just, insane. That final, those million shots on goal, constant attacking, twenty minutes of crazy overtime, beautiful shootouts...loved it. Another highlight of the Games.
Nordic combined
Most boring competition of the entire Olympics so far. Even the women's snowboard slopestyle had more excitement, albeit because of the conditions.
Short track
Incredible world record for Wu Dajing, Schulting stunning everyone and letting the Koreans be too busy with themselves, Hungary winning their first ever Winter Olympics gold....
Snowboard
Big air in general, in my opinion, is rather mediocre, to say the least. But Gasser showed some fun stuff, so that's good, and of course we as Olympic fans surely all loved to be there live for New Zealand's first Winter Olympic medal in 26 years....by a girl who was born ten years after the last one!
All in all, this has been my favourite day of the entire Olympics so far, and the only way to summarize it is this:
The only thing bringing me down of today: Franziska Preuss' performance and her interview right after that on German TV, that just broke my heart. Poor girl.

heywoodu reacted to LDOG in [PREDICTION CONTESTS] PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Bet Contest Discussion Thread
Ok, let's see...
About 2): As I stated in the first post of the relevant discussion thread, the users do suggestions, but the selection committee reserves the right to reformulate them or give them another interpretation. Regardless of that, what you're saying in this case is not true. Here is the post where you made suggestions and you wrote "individual medals":
About 3): Why does that matter? the predictions (and subsequently, the results) are set in stone since the deadline of February 9th, it's not like any participant can go now and edit their predictions according to what you say here. In fact, anyone that does that would be DSQ. This is a "one phase" contest.
About 1): We are not perfect, far from it, and that's why we make mistakes. Sometimes some ambiguities or lack of clarity in the bets flies under my radar. In this case, somehow, we made a mistake and deleted the word "individual" from your original suggestion. I don't know how that happened and I apologize deeply for that.
Since the last contest I established a policy that in the case any user presents to me a problem with the meaning of a particular bet in the discussion thread AFTER the contest has already opened and AFTER several users have already posted predictions, I would then clarify the meaning of that bet in the discussion thread. No one objected to this policy neither 2 years ago nor now, therefore, I understood that the participants gave tacit agreement to it. I'm just asking users to read the specific discussion thread created for this contest (that is apart from the regular prediction discussion thread), I don't think that's asking too much honestly.
In the case of this particular bet, one user asked about the relays' problem (this was BEFORE the deadline) and I answered that according to our interpretation it doesn't take into account relays. The reason: we simply thought including the relays made the bet easier than what we wanted it to be.
Later (AFTER the deadline), another user warned me of some ambiguity problems with bet number 58 and since it was after the deadline (so, users couldn't edit their posts anymore, unlike with bet 60) I decided to award the invested points for both YES and NO.

Are they showing the women's 1000m and the men's relay on repeat, too?

Relays don't count. Someone asked about it before the deadline and I clarified that (and by the way, your bet for that one was 1 point, not 10).

Nope, I would have no problems if Germany won either, its biathletes are awesome and I would be more than happy to see them on the top.
