  1. Thanks to today's results, Eva Tofalvi is out of the Olympic qualifying places in the provisional ranking, falling from 6th to 7th because Johanna Talihärm of Estonia moved up from 12th to 5th. Lightfoot passed Zhang Yan and moved up to 2nd place, now almost 40 points clear of the cut-off.
  2. This was such a cool race! Solemdal getting on the podium after years of depression, being overweight and everything and now, when she finally got everything in her life back in order, the result is there! Valj Semerenko getting a fantastic result after her cancer, Paulina Fialkova with a non-Slovak-like 1 miss and a fantastic 5th place, Mona Brorsson with a great result in front of her hometown fans. And let's not forget 31st place and a staggering 55 IBU points for Amanda Lightfoot, who - thanks to this result - would be wise to start brushing up on her Korean!
  3. Who was not found guilty?
  4. Aaaaaaaaaand he's dead Too bad he won't sit out his sentence now, but oh well.
  5. And that's three more Russians (bobsledders) down the drain, including Alexander Kasjanov who drove the 4-man to the win at last weekend's World Cup in Whistler. https://www.olympic.org/news/ioc-sanctions-three-russian-athletes-as-part-of-oswald-commission-findings
  6. I really hope Lightfoot makes it, she's definitely in a good position so far. Vicky Padial getting in there would be fantastic too
  7. Quite some stuff going on at the Tribunal in The Hague, where one of those war criminals/genocide lovers/whatever heard his guilty verdict and then took a drink, which he claimed was a deadly poison. Trauma helicopter is on it's way apparently. The bigger question: how the hell did a big-time criminal manage to get a poison drink?
  8. So today we've got the women's individual. Out of interest, I've looked at the start list and wrote down which athletes who are fighting for the Olympic quota will be present today, marked with an X
  9. Ah yeah, the good old frustration of being happy with Miri's good speed, only to get all frustrated with 4 standing misses
  10. Crap, killed by vinipereira and Agger
  11. If I'm not mistaken, this is the women's points list at the moment (after IBU Cup 1). I've taken into account all results of last season's last trimester, and will add all results of this season's first two trimesters as the competitions go on, only for the athletes from non-qualified nations.
  12. Let me try that after dinner
  13. Not gonna turn the live stream on for any of them so I couldn't care less
  14. That would be good, but somehow I feel like the big superstars from the likes of UFC won't feel interested in participating in a non-paying event like the Olympics
  15. Yeah, which is sad. I mean, those X Games sports like artistic BMX or skateboarding are just a tad worse, but man...karate. No.
  16. MMA is definitely a very global sport already, the main issue is that fitting it in a two week event would result in something that doesn't even resemble the thing millions of world wide MMA-fans love.
  17. And to give even more quota to climbing and *insert random other sport*, drop that karate thing as well please. Already sick and tired of it and it hasn't even made it's Olympic debut yet.
  18. 1. If MLB players can come, yes please, otherwise, no thanks 2. Noooo sir 3. Noooooooo sir 4. Meh, not bad but I doubt it's competitive internationally speaking 5. That'd be awesome if the best participate (way better than karate and/or wushu or something), but MMA in a 2-week tournament form is just not viable unless you have some amateur competition, which would suck, so in that case, no 6. If NFL players can come it's a 99,999% certain US gold medal, if not, it would be a crappy competition, so no 7. Quite fun to watch, no problem, but let's first see how it works out in Tokyo 8. Not bad, quite competitive among different nations 9. No, no, and again, no, I've barely ever seen so little happening in a 'combat' sport 10. Makes weightlifting look like the cleanest sport ever, so no thanks 11. Never heard of it, which sort of means it's rather small on an international level 12. No thanks 13. Meh 14. The 'barely ever' in 9 is only surpassed by wushu, the biggest bit of non-sporting action I've ever seen in sports, keep that in the living room or something 15. Women-only, meaning it might actually have a tiny chance (unlike if it was men-only), but with only a handful decent nations, meh 16. Those handful of countries don't justify adding it 17. Too expensive, since you need to build and entirely new anti-doping lab 18. No opinion about it 19. No thanks, that does not sound interesting as a sport...at all 20. Quite a cool sport, but rather expensive and absolutely, extremely elitist, doubt it has a chance
  19. I'm watching yesterday's sprints now, but I still just don't get the point Why was this ever added? What's the 'extra' of it? It's exactly the same, but shorter. Why? It's not even really a sprint when it's a 'flying start', but the start is of course still just as important to build speed. After all this time I still don't get it.
  20. Not exactly sure how it happened, but he suddenly just lost control and within a second went full-speed into the netting. In the end it didn't look like anything too serious (he was standing as well), so that's good. Those DNF's at the end (luckily) weren't really 'interesting', mostly just missing gates or losing balance for a moment, nothing too big.
  21. On the other hand, Tuuli Tomingas qualified for the World Cup yesterday, that might be a bit hopeful considering she was a really good junior a few years ago.
  22. Very nasty crash from Jack Gower of GBR, luckily he was already waving as soon as he stopped sliding and rolling down.
  23. Why not? She's one of the athletes from non-qualified nations who actually do have a chance.
