  3. Knockout Stage Semifinals, 1st Leg (Part I) Tuesday 14.01.2025 - Results Sparta Prague (CZE) - Färjestad Karlstad (SWE) 2-6 (1-2, 0-1, 1-3)
  4. actually, Smolskaya was only born in (because her father is Kazakh), but moved to when she was 3 years young so, her relationship with is basically only about her heritage, but she was raised in and technically she's a "product" of the biathlon system (and she's married to a 100% belorussian man, just to strengthen her connection with that Country rather than the one she was born in)
  5. here's a list of National broadcasters for many Countries...and for those who are not listed, it's all for free on Youtube (IHF Competitions page) https://www.ihf.info/media-center/news/how-watch-29th-ihf-mens-world-championship
  6. yeah, but you know...I'm a bit biased when it comes down to Arianna
  7. here we go...back to basics! men's Alpine Skiing, Super-G...despite K.A. Aamodt won 3 times, Hermann Meier is da man, the best SG specialist of all times...I have to go with him women's Alpine Skiing, Super-G...very difficult choice, as we have to compare different ages in this discipline, starting from basically a slightly faster GS and coming to basically a DH with a few more turns...I go with the GOAT in the modern era kind of SG, Lara Gut-Berhami men's Biathlon, Pursuit...given that the best biathlete ever hasn't won a pursuit gold yet, my sympathy goes to the other Norwegian great, Ole Einar Bjoerndalen (despite M. Fourcade has 2 wins against 1 in this particular discipline) women's Biathlon, Pursuit...she's only won once, but she's the undisputable GOAT in this game, so the obvious choice is Magdalena Neuner women's Short Track Speedskating, 500m...Arianna the GOAT, 4 consecutive times on the podium, Gold in the last 2, Arianna Fontana is the only possible choice
  8. until 1992 shotgun shooting was "open", so it would only be a comeback to the "original sin" but tbh I don't like the idea...actually, I'm for the separation of genders also in the Equestrian Sports (like in Germany, where they have a National Championship in Show Jumping awarding both men and women's honors) p.s. physiologically, women have an edge over men in shooting sports, as they normally have a naturally slower average heartbeat rate than men
  9. no, I'd say... yesterday, for instance, the mixed relays had 4.448 million viewers (33.6% rating) and the single mixed relay had 3.940 million spectators (32.7% rating), by far the highest ratings of the whole day
  10. OK, this is going really too far... https://www.oasport.it/2025/01/olimpiadi-brisbane-2032-le-freccette-al-posto-degli-sport-di-tiro-laustralia-spinge/ basically, no more men and women's Shooting in LA, but just "open" competitions (like in Equestrian Sports) and no more Shooting Sports in Brisbane, replaced by no less than Darts! dear Asteroid, c'mon! strike right now, before it's too late! this world deserves to be extinct as soon as possible
  11. it will depend also a lot on the track and the ice quality I think the track in Milan will be quite slow, which would favor Ghiotto also in the 5k (and damage somehow Lollobrigida, who could really be a contender in the 3k on a very quick track)
  12. #7 seed Notre Dame Fighting Irish will face #8 seed Ohio State Buckeyes in the NCAA National Championship Game on Monday, January 20th in Atlanta ND defeated #6 Penn State in the first semifinal match, meanwhile OSU edged out #5 Texas in the second semifinal had the NCAA kept the rules in charge until the last year (only 4 teams going to the playoffs, instead of 12), now we would have a completely different outcome, as none of the top 4 seeded teams could go beyond the quarterfinal stage... I guess the old fogeys of the NCAA sports committee should ask themselves a few questions about that
  13. Eitrem is young and improving, but he's still behind Ghiotto in terms of PB when he'll have a better one, we can start worrying, not now Tomorrow, Ghiotto is sure to ride the 10k even if he drops out of the top 8 after the 1500m, as he's the no.1 in the world in the longer distance, where his true opponent in 13 months will be Jilek, not the Norwegian (who's more comfortable with shorter distances) nor the Dutch guys unless VdP comes back for real...in that case, a different scenario (not good for us) might open p.s. as @Gianlu33 wrote, Ghiotto and the coaches know that he doesn't stand a chance in the overall ranking, so they decided to try and re-write the history books at the Calgary WC stage, using this weekend as a warm-up test
  14. Los Angeles 1984 Carl Lewis, if we talk of Track & Field Rowdy Gaines (Freestyle), Rick Carey (Backstroke), Steve Lundquist (Breastroke) and Michael Gross (Butterfly), if we talk of Swimming
  15. voted! basically, I just kept my votes from the first round (unless some options were not available among the final nominèes)
  16. Knockout Stage Semifinals, 1st Leg (Part I) Tuesday 14.01.2025 - Schedule* 18:00 Sparta Prague (CZE) - Färjestad Karlstad (SWE) *All times CET Watch live Check here for details of live TV broadcasts: https://www.championshockeyleague.com/en/fans/where-to-watch All games are also live on the https://everyplay.live/ website (CHL Pass costs 9.99€/month), subject to geo-blocking restrictions in certain countries due to TV rights.
  17. speaking of the team Ilaria Scattolo will make her World Cup debut in Oberhof meanwhile, Hannah Auchentaller (flu) will miss at least the Sprint and the Pursuit races...and likely the entire weekend (they would be stupid to let her ski out of shape in the useless mixed relays on Sunday)
  18. American Football, Hockey, Cricket, Baseball and Wintersports (mainly Alpine Skiing, Biathlon and Speedskating)...what else?
  19. it looks like will have soon another biathlon member in their ranks born Gaia Brunello is going to switch to her mom's native Land...good luck to her! p.s. just don't give a f*ck to the clickbaiting comparison to Braathen in the title of the article https://www.oasport.it/2025/01/anche-litalia-ha-la-sua-braathen-gaia-brunello-sceglie-il-brasile-nel-biathlon/
  20. my picks... all the home teams except for the Vikings winning in LA
  21. my problem isn't that*...it's that I just can't stand the test match format I'd rather watch T20 or ODI...I don't like even the T10 format *I just discovered that we can watch the 7+ ott also here in Italy, just need a good VPN and a bit of patience to register to their portal (it's completely free, and the app on the amazon firestick works way better than the regular website on my PC) for those who like to dare, there's a chance to subscribe to Kayo Sports, too, but I didn't take the risk yet...you know... meanwhile, for those who are more into "a certain kind of stuff" there's always the magical app Sportsfire (it works basically only on the amazon firestick, though)...and you have a whole world at your feet (when it worls )
  22. no, it won't happen... this same course has already hosted 3 world champs in the past 30 years or so if they had to change something, they would have done it already years ago yeah, it's not only about the sprint races, all the mass start events will suffer from that uncommon, too long (and not adequate) final straight
  23. first time in history miss out on the final four of the men's Jr. Worlds 2 years in a row what a game by the young Czechs I already saw that weren't that good this year in the previous games, but still, I didn't expect to upset them like that
  24. this week is mostly about Hockey (NHL, SHL, NLA and Junior Worlds), CC Skiing (Tour de Ski), Football (NCAA Bowls and NFL), Basketball (Euroleague) and Cricket (mainly BBL, but also some BPL highlights...sorry, but I just can't stand Test Cricket )
