  1. yes, Czechia only play with local players (even if a few of them normally play in the US college system) as I told you, it's the nature of baseball any team can always win or lose against anybody in a single match the pitching performance on a given day is always the key, you can have the strongest lineup in the world on paper, but if your pitchers have a bad day, you're done and dusted that's why the main leagues play 144/162 games in RS and best-of-7 series in the playoffs decisive rounds, that's the only way for the best to emerge
  2. tbh, hockey streams are really accessible around the world actually, nhl.tv is the cheapest OTT service among the 4 big North American sports and there's also a lot of free stuff on youtube
  3. ESP is basically a DOM + VEN team, that's why they're good (like ITA when using top US born players)
  4. I've seen the girls too afraid of the course and therefore it all came down to the last 2.5kms of the race, makin'it quite boring until the final showdown and I fear it will be the same for all the remaining races
  5. tbh, who cares if it's elitist or not? I love the show and it doesn't matter if the game is played at the highest level only in a few Countries same for baseball...I love the game for what it is and I'm perfectly ok with the fact that there are only 4/5 leagues in the world that's worth watching obviously there are many more places where volleyball, basketball and other sports are played professionally than hockey, but, again, this is not a good reason for me to prefer the mainstream action rather than niche's
  6. me, too moreover, it's one of the few sports that is best viewed at the arena than on tv (ok, I'm talking of the small/mid-sized European arenas, I fear that being in the cheaper seats in the big North American arenas the view and the chance to hear the sounds of the game are not so comfortable)
  7. this is our squad, the team with the best players from the Italian league WBC is just another beast, with different rules on the players' eligibility there we could field a dream team, but that's the only event where it's possible still, also in WBSC tournaments we could field some better (US born) players from the American minor leagues, but we usually try to use at least half the team of Italian born players, which makes Italy a modest team however, no...also other European teams (NED, ESP above all) can fill their rosters with players from the major leagues and still beat us
  8. because hockey is the best sport in the world! soccer is sooo boring 99% of the times
  9. did you waste your money on the paid wbsc streaming?
  10. gotta ask the president of our NF
  11. not now, not anymore we're clearly out of the top 6 right now
  12. yes, but we're not the team we used to be, especially this year with only players from the IBL and I'm ok with that, if this is the prize to pay to see a serious, competitive team at the next WBC
  14. yes, GER is a lot better than FRA GER and CZE (but also ESP) are better than UK (they've played well so far, but they're not such a strong team, at least not with this roster) not to mention NED of course
  15. still, the only medal candidates were the men's volleyball and the 2 waterpolo teams (I don't consider the men's football tournament a serious thing to get mad about) now we lost the women's waterpolo and gained the women's volleyball, so, nothing changed since then however, team sports only award 2 sets of medals, it's way more important to develop the individual disciplines that give us the chance to win more medals
  16. more or less, yes the difference is that in Hockey there's no tournament like the WBC, with its rules and the interest of nhl and iihf to keep our team competitive in these terms, baseball is just another world
  17. baseball in Italy barely exists, we can only get some good result by enrolling many US born players from mlb and triple A teams, but it normally happens at the WBC, where the rules on the eligibility of the players is way different from IOC's last time we played the Olympic tournament was in 2004
  18. actually, half the team is made of foreign players the problem is that they're all low level players that normally take the field in our championship
  19. no, not at all only the 2027/2028 Continental OQT count for that but we don't have many chances, unless the tournament is in a period of the year which allows us to call the mlb players (always if our federation wants to pay the insurance for them to play with our team and they want to play with us, and this can't be taken for granted)
  20. naaa, the perfect number is 128 and Italy would still miss out 😈🤦😬
  21. under normal circumstances, Italy but given our roster for this championship, it all depends on who's pitching tonight if he/they play a great game, we should win, otherwise it will be a very tough night for us right now, it's still anybody's match
  22. no, only the usual wbsc Europe website behind an absurd paywall maybe the Czech tv will show the decisive games of their NT, but I haven't checked that yet
  23. my opinion is simple: we live in a globalized World where people travel around the Globe for fun, to find a job, to find better living conditions, to get back where his/her ancestors started the journey we have to accept that, first...and this means also accepting people's decision to change Nation because of the economical advantage they get from this decison we do it for "normal jobs", I don't see any reason to deny athletes the same chances it might sound bad, but so goes the World right now
  24. once again, you've chosen the wrong example Kipketer lived in Denmark for years before he could even ask for the Danish citizenship, he married a Danish woman and got through the entire process as any other foreigner extra-EU, waiting 7 years and more before his request was accepted and started representing Denmark in global events if there's an example of fair decision to live in and represent a Country different from the one he was born, that's it no purchase happened in this case, not at all
  25. they already played each other in the group stage and it was an embarassing loss for Pakistan I hope Tomorrow they can play a lot better
