  1. Former Oscar Reyes (men's -81kg, PB of 370kg in total, 165kg in snatch and 205 in C&J) earlier today became a new Italian citizen and he's now going to represent Italy in the next international competitions (I don't know if his results from the last 3 years, when he was already living and training in Italy, but of course not competing for our NOC, would eventually allow him to be selected for our Olympic team)...
  2. the full schedule is 11 races* + the Gold Medal race, where the best 10 crews from the qualifying races are admitted... if they can't sail for any reason at least 5 qualifying races, the Medal Race is not held and the final results are those according to the QR only...
  3. Italian 20km Race Walking Championships (Grottaglie, March 7th 2021) Men's event Federico Tontodonati (1:20:12) https://www.worldathletics.org/athletes/italy/federico-tontodonati-14201596 Women's event Eleonora Giorgi (1:28:39, first 20km race in 2 years, after competing over the 50km in the past 24 months and winning the Bronze medal at the Doha Worlds in 2019) https://www.worldathletics.org/athletes/italy/eleonora-anna-giorgi-14284455 Valentina Trapletti (1:29:58) https://www.worldathletics.org/athletes/italy/valentina-trapletti-14285390 Maria Vittoria Becchetti (1:30:05) https://www.worldathletics.org/athletes/italy/mariavittoria-becchetti-14420446 (p.s. her first name is wrong...it's Maria Vittoria, as I wrote)
  4. He was born in Texas (home of his father), but then his mom (who's 100% Italian) divorced from his dad and they came to Italy when he was about 3 or 4 years young (if you listen to him speakin' English, you immediately notice that he didn't grow up in an English-speaking Country)... so, technically, he's a fully Italian runner (as he's a fully Italian citizen because of his blood and education), definitely more than all our middle distance runners with African heritage...
  5. Russia (women's team trap) and Croatia (men's team trap) won the last events of this world cup stage in Egypt... in the final medal table, Russia dominated the field with 5 Gold Medals, ahead of Croatia with 2 and 3 nations with 1 ( Spain, Slovakia and Ukraine)... next stop in New Delhi (IND) in 2 weeks, when also the Italian team should be back competing...
  6. I can't believe how the Italian girls did suicide themselves at the last shooting session...Zingerle was comfortably leading the relay and missed 6 of the 8 shots, having to ski 3 penalty loops... and she still managed to end up in 3rd place... meanwhile the boys got a good bronze medal, being the top shooting team of them all (0+2 in total for the)... despite that, Poland (Gold) and France (Silver) were out of reach... Russia are 4th with 2+9 total shooting... the 3 teams on the podium in this race are the only ones not to ski any penalty loop...
  7. yes, it's like yesterday it didn't happen at all... in Italy also the ondemand section is not available, as our public TV doesn't allow ondemand watching of their sport channel (and EAA website redirect us to our national TV)...
  8. it should be available worldwide (no geoblocks)... https://european-athletics.com/live-stream
  9. that's quite surprising...just before the the Olympic Games... but I guess that alpine snowboard doesn't get you so much money to postpone any good chance to improve your life in the next future...
  10. she's her nephew... ops...the answer was already there...I read it too late...
  11. in the men's High Jump, Protsenko is out because of an injury... there should be only 13 or 14 starters later tonight in the qualification round...
  12. if it's a Team event, it's Gold for Russia! this time it's the Mixed Team Trap...and they won ahead of Egypt and Spain (who were the pre-competition favourites based on the individual events' results)...
  13. still, there's no chance to see him fighting for a spot in Tokyo 2020, since he can't beat burocracy... hopfully, we will have to wait until Paris 2024 for him to represent Italy at the Olympics...
  14. unfortunately, it's more than 1...among the athletes, so far only ski jumper Jessica Malsiner tested positive, but it also happened to more service- and skimen, so, before the situation goes out of control, our NF decided to withdraw from the rest of the championship in all the 3 disciplines... therefore, no more Italy in Oberstdorf 2021 (not that we had any chance to shine in the remaining races, but still it's a sad end of this campaign, especially for the youngsters that could have done their debut in a global event of this level)...
  15. so, Russia completed the sweep in the Skeet Team events, meanwhile Spain was the dominant nation in the Individual Trap events, thanks to the Gold medal won by Fatima Galvez among the women and Silver and Bronze won by Joan Garcia and Alberto Fernandez among the men (but the Gold Medal in this event went to Croatia, thanks to Anton Glasnovic)...
  16. once again, the qualification results proved to be the true decider... the blue course, in fact, was a lot faster than the red one in the last 3/4 gates and basically helped almost all the riders coming down that side of the slope... still, the great R-Fisch, "captain Fisch" (age 41 in a few months), almost managed to upset Loginov in the final run, losing only by 0.01 seconds... fun fact...in the previous world champs, Loginov vs Fischnaller was the gold medal run in PSL (and Loginov won also in 2019)...
  17. as a team, yes... Nadyrshina is young and talented, but she's a newcomer at this level and I still think that Hofmeister & co. are the main favourites in absence of Ledecka... however, should the Russian win, it wouldn't be a huge surprise...she definitely has good chances, too... and with the single run format, mistakes and/or poor course conditions (which could cause a lot of surprises through the various rounds of the competition) are always behind the corner...
  18. German women and Russian men dominated the qualification runs (as expected)... all 4 Italian men also in and among the top 11... Ledecka didn't show up in the women's event following her injury from last week... women's quali... http://live.fis-ski.com/lv-sbpq6998.htm#/total men's quali http://live.fis-ski.com/lv-sbpq6997.htm#/total
  19. 1) I'm pretty sure that most people trust it...for sure, more than those who don't... 2) yes...I'm a true psychopath... p.s. I don't blame/shame anybody...I blame/shame WADA/IOC/FIS for making this sport a joke (like many others...I don't trust almost any "performance" sport)... and as I wrote, in Schwazer's case, I'm making an exception to my general principles because of the crime WA/WADA/IOC did against him, which in my opinion is by far worse than what Schwazer did (and for what it might count, served the punishemnt according to the current rules)...you can't take that story as a general example of what I think and what should be done to doping cheaters, because it has nothing to do with normal doping cases... 3) in Italy we talk about straw tail and dirty conscience when someone feels involved without being named...
  20. Marion Rolland also won a downhill world championship gold medal (Schladming 2013)...
  21. how can people trust a sport where yesterday 2 athletes were part of one of the toughest 30km race of all times and today they're still capable to make the difference in a repeated sprint race? p.s. considering Lampic a fluke...man needs to be a true expert to say something like that...
  22. OK, just a day forget... congrats to the Swiss girls...they're going to race for the cup in the finals in Lenzerheide...
  23. fu*k! it's the worst possible result right now...Gut 1st and Suter 2nd...
