  1. Because Lord Sebastian Coe thought "why not give the public more runs with equal performances. They would sure love another close race". At least our commentators are explaining the repechages with this.
  2. Congrats to all Polish users It's one of the Olympic mysteries how Poland doesn't have a medal in volleyball since 1976. Slovenia also again showed, why they are one of the best in the World at this tournament.
  3. Slovenia not backing down, so Poland will have to earn this fourth set. Leon, Fornal have been amazing for them today.
  4. That was a great second set and Slovenia steal it Match is still wide open.
  5. Off topic, but i didn't enjoy much Rachel Stringer on the Australian Open coverage, but she has been quite good whenever she pops in Paris. Has started to win me over. One of the better decisions Eurosport has done recently.
  6. Poland is playing their best match so far, but Slovenia have woken up in the second game too. Leon has brought his big player pants today.
  7. Strong start from the Poles and Leon. Slovenia still finding their footing and will be a bit more relaxed as the game progresses.
  8. The most interesting match is up first , when there is still not much going on, so i can fully have my attention to it.
  9. The woman commentator on the Max feed is completely not biased Shouting and crying as if her own daughters were playing.
  10. I wouldn't call it just yet, but it appears indeed the odds have now switched to the US China still has 4 diving, 2 table tennis and 5 weightlifting, which brings them to 30. Now the US could get to 30 with only athletics, though getting 11 more athletics golds will be fantastic result. After that, China still has chances in some of the other sports. They have a shooting final tomorrow, they have done good in women's boxing, synchronized swimming looks good for them, maybe something in canoeing. The US will be the favorites in wrestling, especially now that Russia is out. But their team sports don't look as strong as previous editions. They are not favorites in any of the volleyball events, or the women's football this time. It will all come down to how successful the US will be in athletics. If they get only 6-7 more golds, then it will be interesting. If they get 10+, then it's pretty much over. I'm interested in the people who are certain about the standings, which medals are they counting currently?
  11. Her best jump was once a 2.05 prior to the 2.10. Random is not the right word, more so non-logical, when your whole season is around 2 and you have jumped only once 2.05 in your career. Stefka had 18 jumps 2.05+ , so only time will tell, if it was random, fluke or whatever..
  12. It wouldn't be a fitting end to the fencing program, if Italy doesn't lose a final
  13. Mahuchikh with the second lowest mark for an Olympic title in 40 years, after Beitia's 1.97 in Rio. As a matter of fact Mahuchikh's whole year has been 2.00-2.01, then BAM 2.10, then back to 2.00-2.01
  14. Doesn't matter who it is. I already said it 3 years ago with Tamberi and Barshim, that it is stupid to let the athletes choose what to do. No one would choose to continue, so there is no point in that. There are no joint medals in any other discipline, bar the 2 vertical jumps, so there needs to be a rule, that should prevent ties, even if all their jumps are the same. Then you will jump until there is no tie, like it was before.
  15. Twice less Gold medals you mean, because the total medals are pretty much the same in all their last Olympics. This happens, when you don't have superstars like Phelps and Lochte to anchor the team. In Tokyo, Dressel was this superstar, who held them, but this time we saw what happened when he wasn't on form. Their women were the stronger side, but they are also losing positions in some events. I think this is maybe the first time in history, where the majority of the current swimming superstars are not American - Marchand, Pan, Popovici, Milak, Mcintosh, Titmus, McKeown, with the only exception being Ledecky of course. Unless Dressel somehow finds his mojo again.
  16. Agree, they should make them re-jump. Enough with this shared medal nonsense. Athletics should tighten their act.
  17. Not that impressed with the 800 m line-up so far. Keely should be able to "keel-it" in the final
  18. Absolutely, do people even know how rare that has been.
  19. A family member mentioned "Who knew, that Canadian lumberjacks can throw so good"
  20. In the end we have and both winning less Golds, than in Tokyo, which bodes well for the sport, but there were 19 total nations winning a medal, compared with 21 in Tokyo. Given, that one of those nations missing is Russia, which would have won one here, i guess there is no real retreat.
  21. And now the official passing of the torch from Jacobs
  22. Just like Richardson, Lyles not at all impressive in the 1/2 and it's going to be an open final.
  23. I think China is getting at least one gold. Maybe 2 if things align their way. You are not winning W60 against Harrington. W54 is 50-50 against Akbas. In the other 3 let's see who makes it to the final.
  24. As with a few other sports, this is getting really shafted with the interest and schedule. In Tokyo Eurosport was all over with this sport, while now i recall only showing 2-3 games.
