  1. We could be going to more than 12 making the pole vault Q.
  2. What is it with athletes in the 400 m, that never attempt to run both individual events? Shorter sprinters do the double, middle distance runners do the 800/1500, long distance runners to the 5000/10000, or 10000 and the marathon in some cases. Warholm and Bol are generational talents, who could very well run them both. Especially since the heats are basically a training run for them. Granted the organizers will have to help with not scheduling both events in the same days.. And don't say it's a hard endurance race of.... 50 seconds, where if you run once in 2 days you are spent for the rest of the week. There are harder demanding sports, than the 400 m, like cross-country and biathlon where athletes are competing 3 consecutive days. Yes, you need technique for the hurdles, which makes the option very limited to pure flat sprinters. But the hurdle specialists like Warholm and Bol souldn't have issues attempting both events, especially when they have top results in both of them.
  3. European economy and everything else is already built for the country to function. Plus their politicians aren't stealing that much (in contrast of what Western media like to talk about Orban). Now Bulgarian politicians are a different breed. With all the stolen money and corruption here in the last 12 years, that went for hotels in Northern Greece, we could probably build 5 such stadiums. Some countries just know their priorities.
  4. Great win for Lyles That 200 m specialty pulled it out in the end. Let's go for the triple now. Hughes gets a medal, even though i doubted it before the race. Good for him.
  5. Are these WC going to be subpar for the US like it was in swimming?
  6. Miller coming for a tourist visit at these WC.
  7. Lots of big names in the first heat of the 1500.
  8. No relation to one Jean-Claude, another notable Bulgarian
  9. I see Canada has opened their 4th place count already
  10. Croatia played in the Nations League this summer and now lose three in-a-row in one if the easier groups Something isn't clicking there.
  11. We are making awful, awful mistakes today, just like we did against Croatia yesterday. Our play is very up and down.. They make 5 straight great points and then 3-4 junior level errors. Bosnia isn't a caliber opponent where this makes a difference, unlike the Nations League earlier in summer, where this costed us 2-3 wins.
  12. Actually, Slovakia has a very good chance to get 3rd place in group, after and I'm very confident you will beat Estonia, while the match with Spain will be more equal. But you beat Spain already in qualification, so it could go either way. I'm setting my sight on a good - 1/8.
  13. I'm sure Italia doesn't need to naturalize Russian players, but here we are
  14. Let's hope Romania can win more than 15 points per set, so it's not a full blown-out.
  15. The Euro opens tonight with Italia against Romania under the night sky. Has someone checked the weather forecast for any potential rain?
  16. Good to see, that FIBA have made a proper logistical desicion in choosing hosts, which are close neighbouring countries like Finland, Latvia, Poland and of course............. Cyprus
  17. Why aren't these people in jail yet? Happened at Crucible, Wimbledon, F1.. This is not a normal protest, it's deliberate attack on a sporting event (and cultural ones too). Throw them for 2 years in jail, then will see if they wont prefer protesting in front of town hall like everyone else.
  18. I can swap for 10 days the 35+ we have been getting here in the last month.
  19. Well, the line-up was more of a Continental Cup, but it was good to see him have consistent jumps. If he somehow manages top 10s in the winter, that would be the real success.
  20. Throwing out sports shouldn't be easy, but the talking points and agendas are always politicized. I can do that too, because i'm bored You hear all the time - cost of the Games, cost of the Games, COST of the Games, but somehow that is never factored in, when they talk about the sports programme. Track Cycling - highly expensive Canoe Slalom - highly expensive Sailing and Equestrian - probably expensive to organise and definitely expensive to practice. Rowing / Sprint canoeing - could be expensive, if you don't have a built in canal.. I like these sports and don't want them to leave, but you have to wonder why they never come up in discussions. Is it maybe because those are sports dominated by Western countries. (Yes i know, the old West vs. East propaganda, a tale old as time). Of course those sport have never had any problems, they are clear as the sky. While the topic is always on weightlifting, boxing, wrestling, rhythmic gymnastics, you know sports which are more popular in other parts of the world (Again, i know, doping, corruption, shady organisations.. it never happens in other sports). Sports, which require 2 mats /rings/ podiums, that could be organised on the street and can be practiced in the smallest village in Zambia. We are saving money by throwing out the cheapest sports out there. And i can add the diversity participation card in there. Boxing, wrestling, even weightlifting, if they'd allow them, have more country diversity at one Olympics, than Sailing, Equestrian and Track Cycling could have in 5 Olympics combined.
  21. I said it years ago. USA, the country with the biggest history and lineage of all time would never throw out Boxing. They have more traditions in it, than practically any other sport, with the exception of athletics, swimming and basketball. If this was a country with no traditions like Australia, sure, there could a possibility of excluding boxing. But USA, come on. It's absurd that people even think it, no matter what their opinion on the sport is currently.
  22. Don't have enough time to follow this closely, as it is a packed summer already. I had a glance at the first results today and is the whole thing going to unfold as a mini-Asian games Don't know, if this being in China is a factor and what kind of teams the other Continents are sending. In general, it appears that the Universiades have lost their importance in the big sporting calendar compared to the 10 years ago, let alone 20-30 years ago.
