  2. Lets move some different sports arbitrarily from Summer to Winter Olympics to make space for Ice Hockey in Summer Olympics. Who cares if these sports have well defined calendars which takes into account Olympics. Important thing is NHL fans should be able to enjoy NHL for 10 months and have a good chance of medal in Olympics.
  3. Good news: We have qualified for World League semifinals (as expected). Bad news: Our new chief coach thinks we have already qualified for World Cup
  4. Congrats to the medallists. Considering that the only Ice Hockey I have ever watched is in movies/serials, I can't complain on missing out on the medal. I am more surprised at my high position in the initial stages of the contest.
  5. I am a tea (Chai) person even in general and when coffee is twice as expensive as tea

  7. Leander was bound to be dropped with Bhupathi becoming non-playing captain. IMHO, either both Paes/Bopanna should be retired keeping future in mind or both should be played for their experience. But, as long as Bhupathi/Paes/Bopanna are even remotely involved with Indian tennis, they will ensure that team is always divided in camps.
  8. Take these rankings with a bucket of salt. I doubt if we can even draw games against North Korea, Thailand, Jordan or Iraq. We will get a good idea of where we are at Asian level only in Asian Cup 2019 (we should have not much trouble in qualifying).

  11. After much deliberation, Indian delegation has also sent its votes. Good luck to all the songs.

  13. I don't think ISIS gives specific instructions to anyone outside Iraq-Syria area. All the ISIS terrorist attacks outside the area are carried out by a small group of radicals who are using ISIS brand. An Indian-American commentator has written a couple of nice posts about the difference between ISIS - the organization in Iraq-Syria area and ISIS - the brand. First Post Second Post
  14. With weigh-in on the morning of competition, when will draws take place? Same day or previous day, so before weigh-in?
  15. I won't be amazed. The present Indian PM Narendra Modi has conducted large scale diaspora events in many countries he has visited. Even though these programs were just outreach programs and nothing political, Indian Government ensured that local government had no issues with the programs (in all such programs, local leaders, not of Indian origin, were invited to be part of the event). If Netherlands government feels a certain event can cause law and order issue, it has every right to deny permission to that event. Be it Erdogan's event or Modi's event or any other leader's event.
  16. Why are Turkish ministers campaigning in Europe for referendum in Turkey? Netherlands/Germany has to manage law and order, so if they think the speech of a Turkish minister can cause L&O issues, I don't see any problem in NED/GER restricting entry to Turkish ministers.
  17. Amir Khan is the actor in both songs but he has sung only this year's entry. Previous song was sung by Rehman.
  18. which song are you exactly talking about? There was one song "Chalo Chalo" recently which was sung by West Indian cricketer Dwayne Bravo while there is another classical sports themed song "Chale Chalo" which featured Amir Khan but was sung by A R Rehman.
  19. The reason why I am against users just picking any random country is because it gives massive advantage to countries with multiple users. For example, I can pick a useless song from country X while some other Indian user can be official Indian entry. I can then give full points to Indian song, increasing India's points tally. Even if not deliberate collusion, songs that we have heard multiple times are prone to get more points. All these issues were discussed previously in the old forum resulting in the present rule. If many users think this rule need to be changed, we can have another discussion about this for future contests, but for this contest, rule disallows you to compete for another country.
  20. Freedom of speech means nobody should be persecuted physically or legally for his/her views. It does not mean people can't counter or ridicule him/her or boycott him/her.
  21. Exactly, IOC must be thinking, let us lock down Los Angeles and Paris before either of them start having second thoughts and we are in a horrible situation where the only interested hosts for 2028 are nations without a big budget/infrastructure.
  22. I didn't mean secretive but careless. For example, for Rio, majority of the Qualification Documents were uploaded by Australian NOC much before respective IFs bothered to put them online. But, since FEI published this, it clears all doubts. Each IF will finalise individually.
  23. IIRC IOC has to approve the qualification system for each sport, so even they will be finalized there. But, IOC doesn't release the qualification system so we have to search the internet for IF/NOC to release the data.
  24. "Again, we must emphasize that this decision is under the full authority of the IOC; it is not the ISSF that is making this decision." Translation: Don't look at us, direct all the nasty tweets to IOC.
