  1. Got home in time to watch the 60m final, excited for that one.
  2. Comically, the BBC Field commentator keeps getting interrupted while talking about the Men's Triple Jump final by a WA graphic stating the next track heat. Happened three times now
  3. Knight reinstated The DQ was for standing outside the lane, and as she was pushed, was reinstated
  4. Nice to see Evans-Gray go through, even if it was by 0.001 seconds
  5. This women's 60m heat is not particularly stacked, I think Neita could win a medal
  6. Ah, looks like still a long road ahead for Kat. Good run from Mills though. 8.15 PB
  7. Here we go then! Good luck to all of the British Athletics team and all athletes going.
  8. I think we can be happy with six medals overall. Now all the focus is on 2024 Olympics/Paralympics cycle. I look forward to it. Next major event is probably Belgrade 2022 Indoor Athletics Championships
  9. Was there any update to this concept? It seems to have stagnated
  10. Took us a while but we have now got medal number six, Ollie Hall with a bronze in the para snowboarding (Men's Banked Slalom SB-LL2), 1:10.45 was his time.
  11. Day 3 had two more bronze medals: Fitzpatrick and Smith with a time of 2:05.98 in the women's super combined vision impaired alpine skiing, and Simpson and Simpson with a 1:52.81 in the men's equivalent event
  12. Neil Simpson wins our first gold and third medal with a 1:08.91 in the men's event, along with his guide Andrew Simpson
  13. Meena Fitzpatrick and guide Gary Smith pick up Medal #2, a silver in the women's Super-G (Vision Impaired) with a time of 1:18.79.
  14. After waiting nearly the entire competition to win a medal in the Olympics, our first bronze medal has been earned in Para Alpine Skiing, with Millie Knight and guide Brett Wild snagging a bronze medal in the Women's Downhill (Vision Impaired) with a time of 1:23.20.
  15. I decided to make a blog about the Olympics, the first post is here. https://gbgames.sport.blog/2022/03/03/after-two-olympic-games-celebrated-in-six-months-a-health-check-on-team-gb/ It is a long one, that recaps each sport's performance in Tokyo 2020/Beijing 2022 and gives some analysis on the health of our Team. I hope you read it and follow the blog as I will post more during the Paris 2024 qualification (at least I plan to).
  16. Here is the statement in full: The Executive Board (EB) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) reiterated today the IOC’s strong condemnation of the breach of the Olympic Truce by the Russian government and the government of Belarus through its support in this. The respective UN resolution was adopted by the UN General Assembly on 2 December 2021 by consensus of all 193 UN Member States. The Olympic Truce began seven days before the start of the Olympic Games, on 4 February 2022, and ends seven days after the closing of the Paralympic Games. The IOC EB today urges all International Sports Federations to relocate or cancel their sports events currently planned in Russia or Belarus. They should take the breach of the Olympic Truce by the Russian and Belarussian governments into account and give the safety and security of the athletes absolute priority. The IOC itself has no events planned in Russia or Belarus. In addition, the IOC EB urges that no Russian or Belarussian national flag be displayed and no Russian or Belarussian anthem be played in international sports events which are not already part of the respective World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) sanctions for Russia. At the same time, the IOC EB expresses its full support to the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) for the upcoming Paralympic Winter Games Beijing 2022. The IOC EB expresses its deep concerns about the safety of the members of the Olympic Community in Ukraine and stands in full solidarity. It notes that the special IOC task force is in contact with the Olympic Community in the country to coordinate humanitarian assistance where possible. The IOC EB asks the task force to continue to closely monitor the situation and to keep the IOC EB informed and updated, also with regard to potential amendments of today’s resolution. Today’s IOC statement builds on yesterday’s statement, which can be found here. I presume the first event to be affected will be the Paralympics, I can not imagine the IPC would disobey this "advice"
  17. Interesting breaking news story: The International Olympic Committee has told International Federations to move any events scheduled to take place in Russia or Belarus out of the countries in its strongest condemnation yet of their attack on Ukraine. Following a meeting of the Executive Board, the IOC has also resolved that no Russian or Belarussian national flags should be displayed at any sporting events. More follows. Report insidethegames.biz
  18. Sir Jason Kenny has retired. He won seven Olympic gold medals and two silvers, making him the best British Olympic athlete ever. A sad day, but as I first read the headline as "Jason Kenny dies" instead of retires
  19. I could listen to this His Excellency Thomas Bach guy forever, the man who brought the world peace, who solved the pandemic, who won gold at the Olympics in Fencing in 1976. I think he should be President for Life of everywhere
  20. Many people working at the BOA, UK Sport etc should be very grateful to these lot
  21. Bruce Mouat , Men's curling silver medallist and skip is our closing ceremony flagbearer. Also: 1976-counter: 1
