  1. I like Auderset, but I think Switzerland will likely give up his spot. British women had a poor season. It's possible they failed to fulfill national criteria, but then again, GB withdrawing even one spot from skeleton would be weird and honestly surprising.
  2. Wow, Adeagbo won the race in Winterberg and basically stole the quota from Brazil at the very last moment. https://www.ibsf.org/en/component/events/event/501856 Brazilian can reclaim it tomorrow, but it will probably not happen. EDIT: Or not. Apparently Hunko stole the quota from both of them although she was only third in Winterberg.
  3. Our bad luck never ends. Two-man bobsleigh are after today guaranteed first reserve for the Olympics, just 4 points (minimum margin) off the qualification. They join bobsleigh four-man and short track W 1500 m, who are also guaranteed first reserves by this point. Crnković in M biathlon is the current first reserve (likely to stay there), while we also have guaranteed second reserve for snowboarding W slopestyle/big air. Tldr: We have more first/second reserves than actual participants. Yay us.
  5. IBSF rankings is not the same as the Olympic qualification ranking, though.
  6. Jugovac osigurala mjesto druge rezerve u slopestyle/big air. Bolje realno nije moglo. Postoje šanse da upadne. Prva rezerva će biti Švicarska koja bi mogla odbiti eventualnu ponudu (ali možda i prihvate, teško je reći).
  7. Okay, reading the new numbers for counties/cities/municipalities is quickly becoming depressing... This is so much worse than the drop from 2001 to 2011. Probably something unseen in modern Europe? My home town for instance dropped from 129k to 108k. Like, how is thst even possible? Okay, some adjacent places (suburbs) have grown, but still.
  8. First results of the Croatian 2021 population census have arrived today. We have 3.88 mil inhabitants. That's nearly 10% drop compared to 2011. No wonder we are sinking like a stone in most sports...
  9. There must be something about musicians with a skiing hobby cheating their way to the Olympics. It couldn't be more obvious that they cheated, but since Vanessa Mae's defense set a precedent, they will keep getting away with it FIS can only make their standards stricter.
  10. Well, his shooting is just too inconsistent. Could end up with 5/10 or something tomorrow (like he did last week). Cool to see him leaving no stone unturned, though...
  11. will make their debuts. Qualification system is more than generous. I guess FIS went for one last hurrah before men's Nordic combined faces severe quota cuts. Latvian guy literally qualified thanks to finishing last three times at COC in Colorado in December 2020. He scored some COC points because there were less than 30 entries, I guess due to the pandemic etc. It's quite an astonishing achievement, especially since NC has no other requirements except for minimum age. https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=NK&competitorid=200234&raceid=2615 https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=NK&competitorid=200234&raceid=2617 https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=NK&competitorid=200234&raceid=2619
  12. NZ are potentially making an exception here after today.
  13. I can't even, what a dumb qualification system.
  14. Crnković did it again!
  15. Oh oh. Disaster result for Van Zundert. Dutch NOC is probably already cancelling her visa.
  16. After many more set ups, including Simari Birkner conveniently climbing the course in Run 1 of Race 4 (are they reading this thread??), Alexander has qualified. Probably will be the weakest skier seen at the Olympics since Vanessa Mae. Hubertus failed after a mistake in the last run. Well, he would have probably failed to Q anyway, as his undoing was the DSQ from yesterday.
  17. The favorites are even slower today. All of them. Looks like they realized there was more room in the bag. Even with all this though, the Jamaican guy is still 5 seconds off the pace. EDIT: Hubertus needs 57 average between two races today. Not very likely to happen... unless they let him win both races or something (for example, one of the top guys pretends to miss a gate and climbs). Alexander needs 131 average which is doable but needs to be a little faster.
  18. He is basically trying to profit from COVID. How very commendable. The best 7 results count for qualification, and COVID or no COVID, he already has 13 (!!) results this year. Oh, and he also has the result from the test event where he placed 29th (last). Goes in line with his prior self-promoting ways.
  19. 9/12 matches have finished with a score of 1:0 so far.
  20. 195 point something for Ponya in Lebanon. She will be going to the Olympics (unless Hungary raised their standards considerably following the Swaney fiasco). I like how Totallympics is probably the only place where people print-screen Instagram stories of small-time athletes.
  21. Coming up tomorrow, the first ever National Championships - without Cape Verdean participation.
  22. Wait, why is Hubertus von Hohenlohe competing in fixed races this week then?
  23. Ghana qualified. Jamaica has some work to do. Hubertus scored 115 pts in Race 2! And considering how the winner got 35 points or so, there is a lot of room left for Hubertus and the Jamaican guy... It just depends whether they will go guns blazing tomorrow for the most ridiculous points...
  24. Breaking news: Hubertus defeated the Czech in Race 2 !
  25. Czech skier was beating Maeder by 13 seconds in Montenegto last month. Now Maeder is staying within 0.26 of the Czech in one run. With this rate of improvement, is Ghana winning a medal next month?
