Based off the qualification document, final places are confirmed on 2nd July with reallocations taking place before that date if possible. The qualification period may have ended on 23rd, but that doesn't mean all the athletes qualified on there will go to the games. The NOC's in question will know this and will only be able to provisionally qualify their athletes.

The rankings I used for qualifications were the updated Olympic rankings on the IJF website from the 23rd June (end of quali period). The qualification document says that in the event of reallocation the direct rankings take precedence over the continental quotas. This meant that some Continental qualifiers earned a spot via the direct rankings, meaning their continental quota had to be reallocated. The reason why and lost their continental quotas is because and had reserve Continental qualifiers that made the cut but in the opposite gender. This means that Women's Europe had one too many qualifiers compared to Men's Europe and Men's Africa had one too many qualifiers compared to Women's Africa. The list is only finalised on NOC confirmation on 2nd July, meaning these reallocations would be valid.

Unless something's changed since last year when I'm ready up on it, from 2026 (after the Winter Olympics) Eurosport is changing into TNT. Whether that means it becomes apart of the TNT package or just changes it's name I'm not sure.

You are right about the sport dying out. Whilst the NRL are playing season openers in America we're struggling to even get a TV contract for next season. However, I think if 9s were to get in for 2032 then it would give the sport the global boost it so desperately needed. The smaller team sizes actually suits League better, as the players are used to being creative during attacking plays and the reduction in team sizes would allow them to be even more creatives - which creates a more pleasant and enjoyable viewing experience. Quotas should be a problem as 12 teams each should be sufficient, although if Netball gets added then a men's tournament may only be needed. If the IRL had any brains then after the next world cup, whenever that may be, then they should focus a good chunk of their resources developing the 9s game so that there's a foundation is there for 2028 when the sports are decided as the global reach 9s would get at the games could be the sole thing that prevents the sport from becoming extinct. Also in terms of the crowd, because of how similar 13s is to 9s, fans would treat it like the world cup (if promoted and marketed correctly of course).

The person in my profile is Jose De Sousa. He's a bit of a maverick who's famous for his insane miscounts, finishes and busts, with his most famous one being 3 Double 20s to take out 120 which caused one of the commentators to lose his voice which prevented him from commentating for the remaining 2 days of the tournament. Yes the international game is a mess right now with the IRL destroying the World Cup and the finances not being there, but if it were to be invited into the games in 2032 I think it'd be more successful than Sevens. You'd be able to do a 12-16 team tournament fairly comfortably with the following countries: Men: GB, New Zealand, Fiji, Australia, Samoa, Tonga, Lebanon, Ireland, South Africa, Jamaica, France, Papua New Guinea (Italy, Cook Islands, Serbia and Greece if 16) Women: GB, New Zealand, Australia, Cook Islands, Papua New Guinea, France, Ireland, Canada, Brazil, Kenya, Greece, Philippines (Serbia, Tonga, Italy and Malta if 16) The 13s players would be able to transfer easily over to 9s with the games being similar and the attendances would be higher as people have more of an appetite for League than they do Sevens. Also, at least League allows for creativity in attacking plays unlike Union which is basically just pass, hit, ruck repeat before having a kick-off and only kicking penalties for the whole match. One of the reasons why I hate watching Union, even though I'm a big rugby fan.

This is why I think the switch to 9s is needed. Simpler rules, quicker pace, more tries, better quality of players as all the top RL players would play in it and better attendances as RL has way better attendances at international matches than Sevens. Schedule won't be an issue either as the SL and NRL seasons could be started a couple weeks earlier to accommodate for the games, with the qualifiers either being held during one of the international breaks or when the season has finished.

I said the likes of, meaning it's not just exclusive to Australia and Fiji. Like I said , the post isn't about NZ (or Australia and Fiji for that matter) it's about the development of GB's Men's team and the mistakes we've made which have led to our embarrassing NQ. Anyway I don't know why you've got this agenda that everyone in this forum disrespects NZ when that's clearly not the case.

There's probably an agreement with the Prince to hold a major qualifier there each cycle, hence why the last chance qualifier is always in Monaco.

While pool does have a good representation between NOC's, darts has good representation between NOC in both it's codes (PDC and WDF). The PDC has good NOC representation in it's affiliate tour, with the PDC Asian Tour having half of Asia competing in it each year. The WDF is where you find the largest range of NOC representation, with almost all of Europe and half of Asia represented. And when it comes to something like this, that's the best ranking to use as the WDF is the governing body for darts and unless there's some agreement the PDC and the WDF only the players from that ranking would be allowed to play if the sport were to make it to the Olympics. I can see both sports making it in if they put registered interest as the IOC would see them as an asset to bring in younger and newer audiences, especially with darts.

Actually darts has a solid spread in both Americas and Asia. Americas: USA, Canada, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guyana, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Mexico Asia: Philippines, Japan, China, Thailand, Taiwan, Mongolia, Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, India, Bahrain, South Korea, Hong Kong, Iran, Macau, UAE Not sure pool has that much strength in depth.

Interesting you chose snooker over other pub sports such as darts and pool. I'm not sure snooker has the NOC depth that pool and especially darts has, which could lead to a massive drop in quality.

I believe you when you say it's gonna be hard and that there's a good chance that we won't qualify, but I wanna see how we develop over the next 3 years before I dismiss our chances as I genuinely believe with more funding, experience and improving players we can start seriously challenging for a quota.

I think you're doing us a disservice here. What we achieved in the space of less than a year is incredible, and with another 3 and a half years to build the team and with it looking likely Water Polo will receive record funding we've got a decent chance at getting a quota. I'm not saying it's gonna be easy or that we're definitely gonna qualify, our best shot is to nab the last quota, but giving us a 2% chance is extremely wrong and dismissive. 30-40% chance is a more realistic percentage.
