MHSN got a reaction from hckošice in Wrestling UWW European Championships 2025
UWW usually writes a long report on every single final match in major events
but for this one, it was just one line blaming the scoreboard
in a normal world someone has to resign for such a terrible mistake. should we expect the scoreboard in Slovakia to resign ?

They just awarded gold medal to both wrestlers
fixing a disasterous mistake by another disastrous decision .

huge huge officiating mistake in 72kg Greco final between France and Hungary
Levai won the gold 4-4 but it should be 4-3 for Ghanem. that 1 point was a mistake (no point awarded for 3rd passivity caution)
I think France will protest it and it's possible if they award another gold to Ghanem later. that was rule violation kind of mistake.
that was a terrible start for the new UWW referee committee chief

already started but apparently doesn't apply to previous nation switches
at least for men's freestyle it's still the Russian Championships + some invitees. maybe after 10 years we see some actual European wrestlers on the mat

well, there is no perfect solution, sometimes nobody can score in a Greco match and someone has to win. they could leave it to the referees to decide who is more "active" but we had this before, that usually means corruption and double standards and lots of protests, another option was having overtime until somebody scores but that could mean endless matches which I still prefer but I understand why UWW doesn't want that.
as I said this is not perfect but at least with this new change nobody will be passive intentionally. in Paris we had some matches where both guys wanted to be passive and that was really ugly.

it took two Olympics (and 4 years) for UWW to finally realize there is a big big flaw in their current rules (we have this since early 2021)
in Greco-Roman, in high level specially in heavier weights it's just hard to score. in this case sometimes the match ends up 1-1. (1 pt for passivity caution for each) under current rules lots of wrestlers decide to be intentionally passive in first 2 minutes to receive the first caution. this created lots of ugly scenes in Olympics. for example Yasmani Acosta won an Olympic silver in Paris without doing a thing! he was passive in his 3 pre-final matches and won all of them 1-1
UWW will test a new rule at the European Championship next week, only in case of 1-1 and only in Greco-Roman whoever gets the first point wins. I believe this will become an official rule soon, they should make this change long time ago but yet late is better than never

MHSN got a reaction from konig in IOC President Election 2025
watching the IOC session yesterday it was like Chinese communist party, everybody praising the dictator and trying to kiss a part of his body. it was like he invented the Olympic himself. very disgusting.
of course such result was expected after that.

it's probably the first time the NT plays a home match on Nowruz (technically 7 hours after the Nowruz) but no that had nothing to do with the accident.
that was power failure or something like that.
and Iran scored the first goal on 45+27 minute
btw this win 99.99% made Iran qualify for the World Cup.

What happened with the 29 minutes interruption in Iran Vs UAE 1st half?
Have they never played on Nowruz before or is this a start of a new tradition?

MHSN reacted to mrv86 in Rowing Discussion | Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028
The event was already contested at 2023 Pan American Games, first as a replacement event for M8+ & W8+ due to the lack of contestants in both events, then alogside them.
I agree, Eights and Lightweights are looking like candidates to be dropped from the program, the first due to lack of emerging crews, the second cause it makes no difference other than giving continental berths to look more “universal”

Say hello to the mixed eight event
https://worldrowing.com/2025/03/17/rowing-enters-a-new-era-with-key-innovations-for-the-classic-rowing-discipline/
does it mean they are going to drop M8+ and W8+ or what ? looks like we are having another mixed event in beach sprint rowing so I assume it makes sense to drop those 2 events to keep the same number of 14 events for 2028.

he was a 3 time Olympic Champion. couple of wrestlers have more/better medals but he was always considered as the most technical wrestler of all time. always fun to watch
