  1. Russian nationals winners 57, Ramiz Gamzatov 61, Magomedrasul Idrisov 65, Gadzhimurad Rashidov 70, David Baev 74, Magomed Kurbanaliev 79, Gadzhi Nabiev 86, Artur Naifonov 92, Alikhan Zhabrailov 97, Vladislav Baitsaev 125, Alan Khugaev winners in non-Olympic weights are most probably selected for the World Championships. in Olympic weights they have to challenge European Games medalists for the spot.
  2. two Bronze medals for Iran in start of Taekwondo competition in men's and women's poomsae . one of them finished 4th but since they are genius they award two bronze medals lol even 4th place finisher ends up with a bronze
  3. Olympic test event in Tokyo with 3 new world records https://www.iwf.net/wp-content/uploads/downloads/2019/07/T2020-Final-Results.pdf
  4. just came home and checked the results I had to google the gold medalists name , can't even find her in ISSF database . this is her first international competition
  5. really feel bad for Egypt and Mo Salah didn't watch most of the match (as I was watching Copa America bronze medal fight) except the last 10 minutes African football is the hardest thing to predict. it seems everybody can beat everybody
  6. Yeah awarding medals only for two team events (so far) is just weird. both air rifle events and I also see a mixed air rile team event in the program lol Iran started to take Universiade a bit serious and win medals only when Taekwondo became a core sport in 2003 before that nobody knew what's even Universiade ! this year Taekwondo is supposed to give us lots of medals. of course hard to predict I have to see other teams too but for Iran at least on the men's side this is our national team (without a single change) and they are here to also collect points for the Olympic ranking.
  7. how come they are awarding team medals only for selected events ?! not that I'm complaining that was Iran's second medal here.
  8. in case anybody interested , we had the first day of Russian nationals today, that's their main trials. here is the finals: 57: Ramiz Gamzatov vs Muslim Sadulaev 65: Nachyn Kuular vs Gadzhimurad Rashidov 74: Magomed Kurbanaliev vs Khetag Tsabolov 86: Vladislav Valiev vs Artur Naifonov 97: Vladislav Baitsaev vs Igor Ovsyannikov and I have to add all those wrestlers in European Games are not here. in Olympic weights the winner of Russian nationals and those 6 guys will go to another tournament (most probably in Poland) to decide their World team.
  9. I was expecting a medal yesterday in women's air rifle but we won a bronze today in men's air pistol ! didn't know our male shooters are also capable of winning something good, we have a small delegation here, outside of our strong taekwondo team (almost our World Championship team is here) I wasn't expecting much medal. this bronze is probably our only medal outside of taekwondo.
  10. we are having Copa America almost every year, Messi finally has to win it at some point or they will make it twice a year, one in summer, one in winter.
  11. I just answered to your comparison of Skateboarding and Karate and which one is more universal. and about the video evidence, give me a name of any sport and I can make a video of some random kids doing that here ! I'm not a huge fan of Karate being into the Olympics (mostly because of bad management but they are improving) but still even long before Karate making into the Olympics we always had something like 100 countries particularizing in World Championships. tell me which non-Olympic sport has such a big number ? you say the younger generations are passionate about Skateboarding, but where ? 4-5 countries are not equal to the whole world. for most people it's still just a fun activity. I have no problem with Skateboarding but let the sport being organized first and has its own World Championship for 10-20 years before even thinking about adding it into the Games.
  12. kids everywhere play foosball , maybe IOC can add that too. or E-sports . I'm sure all of us at least played that once. that's very universal ! much more than skateboarding. what people do for "fun" is different than real sports. PS: and no kids in Afghanistan are not skateboarding,
  13. Yeah I know about him but that's not a realistic medal chance (comparing to Judo or Fencing), watching one of his interviews he thinks he has a chance for medal (even though very slim) but he has to qualify first. even qualifying will be a huge achievement for him. we have no history in this sport.
  14. few months ago in Budapest yes he also won bronze in Asia couple weeks ago, but winning one medal in one World Cup during the season won't make you a medal favorite. he is outside of top 16 in WR right now.
  15. yes, plus Judo, maybe shooting. even though Abedini himself is not a serious medal chance right now. he is not our #1 anymore, if there is a chance in fencing that will be in team sabre. probably a very slim chance.
  16. well it's still too early but here is my not-so-optimistic prediction Karate 2-3 Wrestling 2-4 Taekwondo 1-2 Weightlifting 1-2 Other sports 0-1 Total: 6-12 so let's say 9 medals.
  17. I'm not a "huge" fan of Karate but I defend Karate when I see skateboarding or breakdancing are in the program ! but I don't know why people even compare karate with taekwondo !! taekwondo is about 95% kicking and 5% punching while Kaarate is about 80% punching and 20% kicking beside that in taekwondo you have to hit as hard as possible while in Karate you will get penalized if you hit hard ! you will find more similarities between football and handball
  18. I wonder what happened to Haji Aliyev last night he was terrible and only luckily survived against the Ukrainian guy. but today he just destroyed Olympic champion Khinchegashvili.
  19. I wonder if Myles Amine has anything to do with San Marino ?! something like a grandfather ?! or he is just wrestling for them because there was an open spot available for him there ! we know he is American and his surname sounds Arabic. but that was a good bronze medal for San Marino no matter what. he is good enough to qualify for the Olympics.
  20. finally some wrestling finals. pity both of "interesting" semifinals today were on the other mat. Chakaev lost to Khinchegashvili and the Russian tank made it to the final ! the only final Russia is missing today is 57kg, Uguev surprisingly lost to Amiraslanov yesterday. but I'm curious to see how Micic will do against the Azeri guy. the level is good in general but some stars like Chamizo or Akgul are absent here for different reasons but mostly because we have the main Olympic qualification in Kazakhstan very soon. still Russia is here in full force.
  21. Any idea why Sagi Muki didn't participate in Judo 81kg yesterday ? not interested because of his already good rank ?
  22. I know these individual contests are kind of friendly, but still Iran won a bronze medal in women's skills competition !! that's surprising I didn't know our girls got basketball skills still that's an official medal. and Iran's first ever medal in a FIBA competition. good for her.
  23. Spain already up by 3 before the half time ! this Polish team was only there to ruin Italy's chance. it seems Spain, Germany, Romania and France will go to Tokyo.
  24. based on previous results you would expect Japan to destroy Kazakhstan but as usual they struggle against Kazakhstan, only winning by 1 goal. at the Asian Games they even lost to Kazakhstan despite destroying everybody else while Kazakhstan wasn't dominant in other matches at all.
  25. we will have the last day of AFC Futsal U20 Championship in Tabriz, North West of Iran tomorrow. with Japan and Afghanistan in the final. so far this is no big deal just a great achievement for Afghanistan, they lost to Iran in preliminary round but they beat Thailand and Indonesia in knockout round. the host team Iran instead lost to Japan in extra time in other SF. but this tournament made me (and so many other people) find out there is a very bad , unbelievably racist rule in Iran. there are so many Afghans living in Iran, legally or illegally. something like 1 or 2 millions. but now I found out they only can travel to certain provinces. and their presence is highly forbidden in some other provinces including the one hosting this event. it seems so many of them wanted to travel to Tabriz supporting their team but they can't do that legally. I didn't know about such a rule because fortunately this racist rule doesn't apply to where I live. I really feel ashamed as Iranian about this. I really hope some of them at least can travel for tomorrow match and Afghanistan wins the title (which will be tough since Japan is a better team) ironically more than half of Afghan players here are living in Iran as refugee. and they needed "special permission" to travel to Tabriz for that ! PS: on the funny side. there is a player in Indonesian squad named "Filippo Inzaghi" check #14 here http://stats.the-afc.com/match_report/15506
