  1. I know some guys who know some guys PS: from Iranian news sources. if you want a name, I don't know who won the gold but China finished 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in that event. that's for sure.
  2. China finished 1st to 4th in women's competition. so I guess they won the continental quota in this event. the Iranian girl Partoazar finished 5th and therefore no quota for her but at least they won a bronze yesterday in team relay event.
  3. I don't complain because I wanted Italy to win and also take a revenge for what happened last year in Euro semifinal. I'm watching it on Italian TV and they showed that clear goal again before the start of the final but yes if you are neutral you want to see a close battle with drama in a final. I'm sure nobody expected such a domination from Italy. they had hard time against Japan or Germany !
  4. well I think we already can say congrats Italia
  5. Semifinals 3-0 3-1 this is the first final ever for Iran in this competition
  6. probably the only good thing about UWW is they are fast in re allocating medals ! and surprisingly, they are going to give the gold medal to our Komeil Ghasemi ! https://unitedworldwrestling.org/article/ioc-determines-taymazov-fails-london-re-test if I was Russia I would protest the decision. the only reason they are giving it to Ghasemi is because he lost to the gold medalist and Makhov lost to the silver medalist ! to me that's not a good reason to justify the decision. I still think having double gold medalists is a better idea. but now that's Russia's problem not ours
  7. finally Bahrain TV had to show one of Iran's matches, why ? because it was against Bahrain now we have the semis vs vs Italy is clearly the favorite, this is interesting they have a lady as their coach, interesting because something like 90% of women's volleyball teams in the world use male coaches ! I don't think there is a single female coach in Italian Women Volleyball League.
  8. wrestling was giving one bronze but they probably told to themselves, why Judo can and we can't ?! but to be honest when they made it double bronze medals in 2005, I was sure IOC won't let them do that at the Olympics but I was wrong ! lol btw this issue already confused the media here, some reported that Ghasemi is going to receive the gold medal and some said he is going to get the silver. if he gets the gold and assuming Nasirshalal in weightlifting will get that too (gold medalist from Ukraine is under investigation) this will make +3 gold medals for Iran in London Olympics I think no other county wins that number of gold medals in re-testing. even though it's much less than winning the medal in the competition day but at least better than nothing. and if we count those 2 possible gold medals, Iran just needs one more to get into top 10 in the medal table and that was what our current sport minister announced as his long term goal. I think he has more chance to achieve that in past more than future
  9. Artur Taymazov loses his second Olympic gold medal ! IOC already took his 2008 gold medal. and now they are taking his 2012. https://www.olympic.org/news/ioc-sanctions-one-athlete-for-failing-anti-doping-tests-at-london-2012-3 now this is interesting because the silver medalist Modzmanashvili from Georgia is also disqualified. the question is who is going to receive the gold medal now ? nobody ? one of those bronze medalists ? both of them ? there is nothing in UWW rules for situations like this when both gold and silver medalists get disqualified. in London, Komeil Ghasemi (Iran) and Bilyal Makhov (Russia) won bronze. Ghasemi lost to Taymazov and Makhov lost to Modzmanashvili. if they want to follow their usual pattern, Ghasemi should receive the gold because he lost to the gold medalist (even though that sounds stupid) but then on other hand if they count "classification points" Makhov has more. but I guess it will be either both of them or none of them. it doesn't make sense to give the gold medal to just one of them.
  10. Hi, I assume you guys already heard about the disqualification of Bahraini sprinter Kemi Adekoya which potentially can give India one gold (and a bronze) at the 2018 Asian Games. I checked couple of pages and I see nobody mentioned it here, perhaps you guys don't care about that I wonder if there are news about this in India media about the re-allocation of medals. I'm talking about "actual re-allocation" not possible. or maybe it's just too early for that because the decision is new and still open for appeal
  11. Iran won both kumite events, both of them had unbelievable comeback in their matches against Japan. men's team was down 2 defeats and 1 draw but they dominated the last two individual matches, and the women's team was down against Japan until the very last second where Taravat Khaksar scored the winning point. here is the final medal table Japan - 6 / 3 / 4 Iran - 5 / 2 / 4 Uzbekistan - 3 / 1 / 3 Saudi Arabia - 1 / 3 / 0 Kazakhstan - 1 / 2 / 0 China - 1 / 0 / 3 Indonesia - 0 / 2 / 1 Jordan - 0 / 1 / 2 Hong Kong - 0 / 1 / 1 Kyrgyzstan - 0 / 1 / 1 Malaysia - 0 / 1 / 1 Kuwait - 0 / 0 / 5 Vietnam - 0 / 0 / 3 Chinese Taipei - 0 / 0 / 2 Macau - 0 / 0 / 1 South Korea - 0 / 0 / 1 Thailand - 0 / 0 / 1 United Arab Emirates - 0 / 0 / 1
  12. Gold medalists Men's 55kg: Andrey Aktauov 60kg: Sadriddin Saymatov 67kg: Hiroto Shinohara 75kg: Ken Nishimura 84kg: Zabihollah Poursheib +84kg: Tareg Hamedi Kata: Ryo Kiyuna Team Kata: Japan Women's 50kg: Bakhriniso Babaeva 55kg: Taravat Khaksar 61kg: Yin Xiaoyan 68kg: Nodira Djumaniyazova +68kg: Hamideh Abbasali Kata: Kiyou Shimizu Team Kata: Japan --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- with only team kumite events left for tomorrow, Japan has 6 gold medals. for Iran it's 3 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze. while this is not really a good result but in term of Olympic qualification I'm almost happy with them. Abbasali won the gold and she needed this more than anybody else. Khaksar also put herself in race for Olympic quota with gold medal here. even though I think at the end we have realistic chance for 3 direct quotas but right now the chance still exists for women's 55 and 61, it's funny the only weight we have absolutely no chance to qualify is men's 67kg ! both Ganjzadeh and Askari managed to win bronze. very bad result for high quality athletes like them but I think they are exhausted with too many competitions in a short period. i think it's time to rest at least for some Serie A events. they can afford not to participate in couple competitions
  13. Bahrain Sport Channel once again is broadcasting all matches in the main stadium live except for Iran matches how pathetic they are but bad news for them, Iran beat Czech Republic and advanced to the 2nd round, and if Bahrain loses to China tonight (which is very likely to happen) they will be grouped with Iran. I wonder if they boycott that match too
  14. not "now" because it was an hour ago. and it was a bit scary since China had 5-6 pts lead at some point because of Abedini's poor performance but Pakdaman saved the day. yeah I think it's safe to say the Olympic spot is secured now.
  15. AKF uses a different program comparing to WKF, we have all the finalists for kumite events today, all finals and kata events will be held tomorrow. also only in Asia we have a 55kg competition for men ! here is the finalists Men's 55kg: Andrey Aktauov vs Abdullah Al-Harbi 60kg: Rafael Akbarov vs Sadriddin Saymatov 67kg: Hiroto Shinohara vs Didar Amirali 75kg: Abdulaziz Al-Hakami vs Ken Nishimura 84kg: Zabihollah Poursheib vs Mahmoud Sajan +84kg: Tareg Hamedi vs Hideyoshi Kagawa Women's 50kg: Miho Miyahara vs Bakhriniso Babaeva 55kg: Taravat Khaksar vs Sevinch Rakhimova 61kg: Yin Xiaoyan vs Rozita Alipour 68kg: Ceyco Georgia Zefanya vs Nodira Djumaniyazova +68kg: Sofya Berultseva vs Hamideh Abbasali --------------------------------------------- terrible terrible tournament for the men's team ! Ganjzadeh lost to that Saudi guy again ! Askari lost to Nishimura, the good news is they are almost safe in Olympic ranking. but this is extremely disappointing. this is the second time Sajjad is losing to this guy. Saudi Arabia has 3 in the final and we have just 1 ! on other hand great result for the women's team to have 3 in the final. specially Abbasali needs the gold medal to keep herself in top 4. interestingly all of the Iranians here lost to eventual finalists, all of them will be alive for the bronze medal. (except 67kg where we had no competitor because of Mehdizadeh's suspension)
  16. of course on purpose, they showed every single match except Iran. for example China - PUR is live now. I was expecting much more, but Iran lost 3-2 to Russia, so tomorrow match vs Czech Republic will be a direct knockout match. disappointing because Iran had big leads in all first 4 sets and but lost two of them. but it's hard to judge when you can't see the match. but half of these guys were in our senior team this summer I was expecting more.
  17. you mean here ? but you are in Group B. I assume there is TV coverage only for matches in the main stadium which for the first round only hosts matches from Group A and C. I might be wrong though the only thing i can do right now is checking the scoreboard and Iran just choked big time in 2nd set
  18. I have this channel on satellite , yesterday they broadcasted all matches in the main stadium (Pool A and C are in the main stadium), except the first match between Iran and Tunisia, (at first I thought that was only because of the time since it was the first match of the day) today they showed the first match (CZE-TUN) but then again right now they are showing some stupid things while Iran-Russia match is ongoing (which is supposed to be a big match) co-incidence ? I wonder what they are going to do if Iran advances to further rounds
  19. when they were writing that qualification rules, they didn't know there will be no "continental games" in Asia in 2019 ?! they could simply write that. is it even possible to count 2018 Asian Games for this ? guess not. as you said it will most probably go to the OQR.
  20. The Iranian officials claimed they tried until the last hours to solve the problem but the competition started today without him. it seems AKF officials in Jakarta told the Iranians that he is banned for a year. no letter, no email. and in time, the Iranian officials claimed they solved the problem and there will be no suspension for him, in past year we had change in Iran Karate federation, and the "new officials" had no idea about that. they even accepted his name, gave him ID card ! Iranians even tried to get WKF president into it and solve the problem with his help but no avail. since he changed his body weight from 60 and 67 and had some injuries, his results weren't any good last year and his chance was very slim to qualify through the ranking. but then I can't understand how the hell they can ban someone for a year for such protest !! that wasn't such a big deal btw, do you know if this is the Asian Qualifier ? beside ranking points I mean for the best gold medalists to qualify. it should be, there is no other Asian competition. the document says "If Continental Games are not approved as a qualification event on a specific continent, then the highest ranked athlete not yet qualified from the Olympic Standing on 6 April 2020 from that specific continent, will obtain the quota place, respecting the maximum quota per NOC." this is amazing we still don't know that !
  21. shocking news for Iran one day before the competition , AKF didn't let two time World Champion Amir Mehdizadeh to participate, saying he is banned for a year !! because of his protest after the Asian Games final where he clearly got robbed against the Indonesian guy. he attended the medal ceremony but removed the silver medal from his neck very quickly and left the podium early (still, after the Indonesian anthem but before the photography) seriously 1 year ban for that ?!!! interestingly nobody knew that in Iran, as he participated in WKF events. if they knew at least they could send someone else, it's not like we don't have any other medal caliber Karateka.
  22. no. he was 7-8 years ago, in past 6-7 years we had an Iranian coach Peyman Fakhri.
  23. YES first ever World Championship medal for Iran in fencing. one of the sports I always loved to watch and few years ago it was impossible to think Iran can win a WCH medal someday. well done Moji we are lucky he changed his mind because he retired last year after the Asian Games. only his coach talked him to change his mind.
  24. I never heard about this , Bahrain's main football stadium is also in Riffa and our players never had such problems. if there was mistreatment we would hear about this. and this is the 3rd time in 2 years for this group of players to play in Bahrain. Bahrain also hosted 2017 Worlds U19 and 2018 Asian U20 !! they never had problems (and actually won both tournaments) Bahrain was a state of Iran not long time ago, the majority of people there are kind to Iranians (actually most people there have Iranian heritage) but they make it hostile situation sometimes. mostly for football matches (and again we got Bahrain for FIFA WCQ in yesterday draw)
  25. Brazil vs Luxembourg in quarterfinal. it will be first ever WCh medal for either country
