  1. just watched the highlights and Haaland actually scored 10 goals, VAR disallowed one of his goals because of a soft foul (the second goal in 9th minute). and he had the last shot of the match for scoring his 10th goal and he missed it some of his goals were great though.
  2. actually she didn't shot blank. her pistol just stopped working. they gave her another chance and the pistol still didn't work. this is very impressive for her to come back after such accident
  3. wow. feel sorry for the Indian girl that was very unfortunate and Sebghatollahi once again finished last in another final, this time with a disastrous result . looks like the only way for her to win the quota is going to the final with 6 already qualified shooters she always chokes in finals
  4. something stupid and funny happened here. the original 61kg gold medalist Mohammad Bagher Yakhkeshi from Iran got disqualified because he attended the medal ceremony without "proper outfit" ! the organizers disqualified him and gifted the gold to Rassul Kaliyev of Kazakhstan Iran Wrestling federation protested UWW because they never applied such a rule before but well there is always first time for everything and it's always easier to use that on the Iranians
  5. 2018 World Champion David Taylor is going to miss the World Championships later this year in Kazakhstan ! he got injured in a show event they held every year in streets of New York and he will be out for a while. but he announced it officially that he will be out for this year. this means our Hassan Yazdani now has something like 80% to win the gold medal in Astana (aka Nur-Sultan ) but not really a good news for him. because even if he wins the gold, people will always taunt him by saying "only because Taylor wasn't there" he is now 0-2 against Taylor and I'm sure he was looking forward for that matchup. it has to wait for the Olympics in Tokyo.
  6. Sassari freestyle finals 57kg: Capellan vs Tuskaev 61kg: Yakhkeshi vs Kaliyev 65kg: Idrisov vs Gongane 70kg: Koliev vs Kaipanov 74kg: Chamizo vs Kaisanov 79kg: Usserbayev vs Aminov 86kg: Bazri vs Dauletbekov 92kg: Tsakulov vs Karimi 97kg: Foroutan vs Talebi 125kg: Krivtsov vs Ligeti The level wasn't good at all, I was expecting more. only Kazakhstan was here with all of their best wrestlers. the only "interesting" match was Chamizo-Tsabalov in semifinal. while Tsabolov dominated the match but Chamizo only needed one minute to come back and win the match 5-4. as for the Iranian wrestlers, this is mostly our 2nd and 3rd wrestlers in each weight, (plus 1 or 2 #1 wrestlers in non Olympic weights) they only got good results we already have better wrestlers at home. 65kg, 70kg, 74 and 57 are still VERY weak. even though 2 or 3 of them got hurt by extremely bad/stupid officiating but still that was mostly their own fault. still that wasn't a bad idea to try some 18 years old wrestlers here, but I don't know how they gave another chance to Hajiaghania, this guy is the worst wrestler I ever seen Emami and Hajaghania managed to lose to someone much much weaker than themselves !! Foroutan and Talebi both made it to 97kg final, Talebi had a good win over world bronze medalist Conyedo but then his semifinal against Kazakhstan was disappointing. Foroutan also was just a shadow of himself he was destroying everybody last year when he won the World Juniors title. we will seen which one of them is better later today but I think Reza Yazdani should be our representative this year. in short if I had to pick our world team only Alireza Karimi from this team could be in my list. Bazri was OK here but obviously he has no chance against Yazdani and Ghasempour.
  7. not sure if you are watching the live stream for the final block but they mentioned it. he was in warmup area and missed the call for his match vs Mollaei !
  8. no idea our judo federation is not that good in covering the news. they just say Mollaei beat his Egyptian opponent and I assume they just follow the live scores like us.
  9. then how come they wrestled in World and European Championships before ?! you don't need a passport to represent a country in a World Championship then ? that's unbelievable. so they could wrestle in 2018 WCh but they can't wrestle at the 2019 WCh because this one is an Olympic qualifier ?! sounds stupid to me. btw Kudiamagomedov can be easily a medal favorite at 86kg. this is not a tough weight. 2 wrestlers are head and shoulder above the rest and whoever Russia sends will be #3. the 4th medal spot is up for grab and we know there is always that possibility these top wrestlers falling in the same side of the draw as it happened in 2018 WCh.
  10. Sassari finals 55kg: Cankaya vs Ayazci (last match of round robin) 60kg: Uyar vs Kim 63kg: Torba vs Ceker 67kg: Akhmedov vs Karakus 72kg: Kurak vs Korpasi 77kg: Kim vs Levai 82kg: Akbudak vs Gurpreet 87kg: Goktas vs Lorincz 97kg: Kakhelashvili vs Hancock 130kg: Yildrim vs Lam there are some big names in the finals, but none of these finals are "super great" I think 97kg was the most interesting weight, Kakhelashvili beat Timoncini (in a probably Italian trial) and then Kajaia. Kurak/Korpasi also can be good but they wrestled once in the group round. the only mini surprise was at 67kg, Ryu Han-su lost to Karakus of Turkey. another important match was at 77kg when Kim Hyeon-woo destroyed Tamas Lorincz 8-0 !
  11. The Sassari tournament started in Italy today which is a part of the ranking series events, there is a good live stream in UWW website. today is the whole Greco competition, tomorrow for women and Sunday for the freestyle. the level doesn't look great in Greco, only 2-3 countries send top wrestlers like South Korea and Hungary (plus some big names from Russia and Turkey) but in general we have something like 8 wrestlers in each weight. still we had some big matches already, Kim Hyeon-woo vs Lorincz was the biggest one so far. but based on reports the level will be much better for the freestyle competition. Iran also sent a not-that-bad team. we were supposed to have our own trials at 125kg here in Italy by sending all 3 big names but they changed their mind about it. Alireza Karimi is going to be our only former World Medalist in this tournament.
  12. After weeks and months finally we can see the return of Saeid Mollaei to international competitions in China Grand Prix still representing Iran. (part of two man team) it seems from now on the strategy is to participate wherever Israel doesn't participate that's their "smart" plan. to reduce the chance of facing Israel . you can count on "luck" in one or two tournaments per year ( World Championships and the Olympics )
  13. I'm sure nobody misses AIBA judges probably they can pick up some random people from the street.
  14. The provisional entry doesn't matter at all. and China has a history of putting very low entries just for fun. they will fix it later btw there are lots of Iranian names on that list. but it seems most of them are not going to Fiji ! our WL federation can't afford such a long and costly trip to Fiji. it will be only 2-3 weightlifters from Iran and even that's not a sure thing.
  15. it seems even if GS was without Curry and Thompson or even Green. our friend Lillard could find a way to lose to them. how the hell they tried that impossible 3 in overtime ?! surprised he even managed to hit the rim from that angle
  16. wow if we ever wanted to invade Turkey. this is probably our chance ! the number of Iranians here is probably more than the population of Istanbul I can't even find anything about most of these guys. whoever can affords a short trip to Turkey is allowed to participate. but this is stupid. half of them losing in first round is no good for the prestige of our karate . and they don't exist for our Karate federation . their news section only mention their own athletes ! (the usual names you see in other competitions. 2 per weight class) we will have 5 finalists later today, but only one of them matters in Olympic ranking, Askari-Busa in 75kg final will be interesting but our other Olympic hope Ganjzadeh lost to former Iran NT member Iman Sanchouli who is now representing Northern Ireland !? (huh ?! how the hell he found Northern Ireland ?! ) 10-15 years it was considered a very very bad thing to change nationality and face Iranian athletes in international competitions. now it's very normal .
  17. This is it, we will finish the competition with only 3 medals. 1 bronze , 1 silver and we will know the last medal later after 63kg final. quite a disaster. even though our federation obviously will blame the British organizers because of visa issues. 2 of them rejected visa and 2 others came to the competition very late , one night before their events. but that's not the only reason. our men's team wasn't that good. and today we lost twice to Brazil and guess what both Brazlians made it to the semifinal. + another one at 87kg. which means 3 out of 3 for Brazil today. and what I can say about Mardani ? as I said before watching him is always like a torture . he always makes his matches hard. and this time against Maicon Andrade of Brazil. he waited 5 minutes to do something and when he managed to come back and tie the match, he lost it in golden round. if he fails to qualify through the "Grand Slam ranking" we have to chose between him and Mirhashem Hosseini to send one of them to the Asian Qualifiers and I will definitely go with Hosseini . I really don't want to see Mardani again. he can easily win the gold medal but he also can lose in the first round to anybody.
  18. not sure if you know but refs (and humans in general) have nothing to do with those scores. that's electronic system. and if you kick to the face (and not the helmet) that's no point unless the center referee starts to count for the knockdown. and they do that only if you hit really hard. refs are only important for cautions, punch points and turning kicks, the rest are electronic scoring system. (and of course the center ref always can cancel a kick for grabbing and other fouls)
  19. Yeah the Greek guy was even a bigger surprise than Alessio . even though this time Beigi will destroy him in the final most probably. speaking of 80kg we had some accidents in top half, World #1 Cheick Cisse got disqualified when he punched to the face of Taiwanese athlete accidentally and the Taiwanese guy could not continue the competition, so it was walkover for Hernandez of Dominican into the medal round. who lost to our Greek friend in the final. of course the Greek guy still deserves lots of credit, he beat Ordemann as well. he wasn't "just" lucky. regarding Olympics Alessio is in the same weight as Botta and Italy has to pick one. normally you would pick World Champion without hesitation but Botta is also an experienced fighter and Alessio will lose a bit of his height advantage in 80kg. I assume the 2nd place goes to Dell'Aquila.
  20. Really impressed by this young Italian kid never saw him before. that's the problem with Grand Prix competitions. because there is no room for new athletes outside of top 32 in World Ranking. we always see the same group.
  21. season 7 wow ! more than just "a little" so let me spoil it for you. they will fix the elevator finally in the very last episode
  22. am I the only fan of the Big Bang Theory here ? I was watching this for more than 10 years and It was like I know these characters in real life. I feel like someone who lost a friend already
  23. no not the same girl. that Kimia is recovering from her 5th surgery (no kidding 5 and she is just 20 ) still a good result for "this Kimia" she beat Williams which was already a huge surprise and her match vs Azizova was close until the last minute when she started to attack blindly and gave up lots of points. good tournament for our women's team so far. almost all of them under 18 and even if they lost they lost to eventual medalists (most probably gold medalists) looks like that joint camp with Serbian team really helped them. on other hands what a bad tournament for Serbia, there are lots of former world medalist in Serbia squad and still no medal ! next time don't invite the Iranian team to train with you
  24. That was ugly, very ugly. what a shame. Walkden won the gold 11-20 !! yes the loser scored double points as the winner, 1 cheap punch point + 10 cautions while Zheng scored 20 clean points. I can say half of those penalties were nonsense. at some point it was like Sumo for Walkden. pushing Zheng out of the court with 2 hands, that's not legal but who cares. even in UK almost half the spectators were booing Walkden , that was one of the worst officiating in this sport I ever seen.
  25. what a disappointing day, Bakhshi lost in Golden round in QF (he had 1 pt lead with less than a second to go in regular time) and both girls Kiani and Javadi lost to Panipak and Jade Jones (I think both of them will win the gold) Javadi had some great results before getting destroyed by Jones. to make things even better. our second athlete Erfan Nazemi also denied visa completely and will miss the competition. which leaves Iran with only 6 athletes. I think it's almost a sure thing we won't win a gold medal here. Bakhshi had a very easy road to the gold medal but threw away his chance.
