  1. until
Athletics AAA Asian Championships 2019 Doha (QAT) - 21 April 2019 - 24 April 2019 Discuss about this event
  2. here is the start list in case http://www.awfederation.com/news/download/41/358/29.html
  3. Thanks and keep sending screenshots from the results. it will take centuries for IWF to post the results. btw. interesting to see Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Sri Lanka winning medals in an Asian Championships. thanks to low level non-Olympic weight, I wonder if it happened before. but at least I'm quite sure this is Saudi Arabia's first ever gold medal in this sport. probably first ever medal.
  4. that's good from IOC. he will lose the next Olympics for sure if he doesn't solve his problems here. he is 27 now, he will be 32 for Paris 2024. this will be his best chance in Tokyo and of course I know it's highly possible for him to run into that Israeli guy and lose everything. that's probably a huge motivation for him thinking about going to another country. (in this case I completely understand him, this is really hard to swallow if you lose your lifetime chance because of that) ironically that happened to Miresmaeili in peak of his career too when he was two time world champion and hot favorite for the gold in Athens 2004 and he was the flagbearer but the night before the opening ceremony they had the draw in Judo and he got Israel right in the first round. he cried the whole night but still carried the flag in the opening ceremony. I really believe our judo is cursed since that day. we were one win away from the first Olympic medal in Judo so many times but they lost it all (semifinals and bronze medal matches) , IJF changed the rules exactly because of Iranian judokas using wrestling techniques, and a plane crash killed the entire youth/junior teams few years ago, and lots of NT members leaving Iran (even though none of them achieved anything) also so many scandals inside the judo federation. they had something like 10 presidents in past 10 years. and just when things were getting better, the previous president had to resign, I have to repeat it again, all I said here is just my own guess based on my previous experiences. I think he is considering all his options now, probably didn't decide anything yet, and where he is right now (Germany) already has a good judoka in his weight. I just hope he doesn't do something that he will regret later. once he opens his mouth talking about this there is no turning back from there.
  5. I don't know anything about requirement for switching nationality in Judo. one thing is for sure, Iranian federations never ever give permission for that. but I know you still can do that without permission, it will just take more time. but we had a bad record in Judo. I can name 4-5 national team members doing that in past. the last one was the 2017 Asian silver medalist "Mohammad Rashnonejad" who is (as far as I know) still waiting for his papers to represent his new country the Netherlands. but none of them was as important as Mollaei. right after what happened in Paris (the Israel story) Mollaei said something about "if they don't consider him he has options from other countries" I assume by considering he was talking about the prize money. and now with Miresmaeili in office I think he is really considering it. (that's just my guess but I knew from the previous experience when someone goes completely silent he has a plan that people won't like it ) and in his instagram he posted a pic with his fiance/girlfriend who is obviously not Iranian. it seems it will be somewhere in Western Europe
  6. I don't know. the logo says "Asian Pacific Championship" ! http://www.ippon.org/jua_oju_sen2019.php
  7. if you don't know already ASBC website has links for the results. draw and even live stream for the whole competition.
  8. for the first time, we will have Asia Pacific Judo Championships !! I didn't know that until today when I was checking the draw !! I don't know if it was just for this year or more. and for Iran, the sad news is World Champion and World Rank 1 Saeid Mollaei is not participating here. he is disappeared in past month, never talked to media. and nobody knows what's his plan. I'm not going into details, our judo was always like a circus and now his biggest enemy (Arash Miresmaeili, two time world champion, Mollaei is only the 2nd Iranian world judo champion after him) is elected as the Iran Judo Federation president last month and 10 minutes after the election, the national team coach and manager announced their resignation. right after winning the World title, Mollaei bashed MIresmaeili in TV (who was the national team manager for few years and Mollaei had serious problems with him) and now Miresmaeili is the president, Mollaei apparently doesn't want to participate for "him" ! as I said I don't know what's his plan, Miresmaeili is not going anywhere for the next 4 years. I see only 3 options for him, solving his problems, retiring from Judo or representing another country he was quiet since the election, that makes me believe he is probably thinking about the 3rd option
  9. rumors in wrestling world say the 6 time World and Olympic Champion Khajimurad Gatsalov is going to wrestle for Armenia at the World Championship later this year !! this is weird, first we don't know which weight he is going to wrestle, 97 or 125 ?! if that's 125 why not Russia ?! this is their weakest weight. but still if that's true it will be fun watching him again. he is 36 now.
  10. I assume there are lots of Iranian-born athletes representing other countries in those new sport. that doesn't count to me. like this one. you can say Iranian women competing when they represent Iran and be recognized by Iranian federation. btw there are talks about starting women's boxing in Iran though and they were talking with AIBA for a dress code for that. even though considering current huge budget cut, I assume our boxing federation postponed those plans for now.
  11. this is 99% nonsense (I can't say 100% but in Iran you never can be really sure) she is just someone desperate for attention. not much media attention about her inside Iran, (of course Persian media outside of Iran as usual take these kind of news seriously) because nobody knew her at all until few days ago. just some announcement denying that bold part . of course she can't be representing the IR Iran without Hejab but doing something "without Hejab in another country" is not illegal and she won't have any problem traveling back to Iran. but of course she has other reasons spreading such news. we will see her getting French citizenship (or somewhere else) soon just because of that. and after that she will travel back to Iran happily to see her family that's usually the plan.
  12. I can guess running in mud or things like that what's underwater hockey whenever you think you "know" all existing sports, another new sport "happens"
  13. thanks. google translate didn't help with this and obviously I can't read a single Chinese character. anything else I missed ? google translate is far from accurate. btw that's a terrible idea, dropping a sport like Karate with 40 nations participating and adding Chinese Chess !! which is not even a sport to have TV coverage etc. I like the real Chess though but only the blitz competition which is possible for TV broadcasting.
  14. it seems the organizers finalized the list of sports for the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou it will be all "core" Olympic sports plus few selected non-Olympic sports, Sepaktakraw, Kabaddi, Cricket, Chess, Roller Skating, Jujitsu, Kurash, Wushu and Squash and per Hangzhou 2022 official website Dragon Boat will be a part of Canoeing competition. but they said nothing about Soft Tennis (which is usually a part of tennis competition) or 3x3 basketball. and beside that it's not clear if Chess is just Chess or will include some weird Chinese Chess competition too. with this, Cricket and Chess are the new sports comparing to 2018 but they dropped Baseball/Softball, Bridge, Bowling, Jet Ski, Paragliding, Pencak Silat, Sambo, Karate and Sport Climbing from the 2018 program. of course nobody is upset about dropping JetSki, Pencak Silat or Bridge or Paragliding or Sambo, but dropping some old sports like Karate, Bowling and Baseball/Softball is a very bad idea. even Sport Climbing should be in the program. especially Karate which is a popular sport in Asia and we usually have something like 40 nations participating at the Asian Games (OCA has something like 45 members) even though after this Iran Karate federation president claimed he contacted the AKF officials and he was told to not worry, OCA president (Sheikh Ahmad from Kuwait) is a fan of Karate and he will never let the organizers to drop Karate. he will force the Chinese organizers to put back Karate in next OCA meeting. which means this list is not final as far as OCA concerns and small changes can happen.
  15. I knew that, European tournaments are usually much easier to follow. that was just an example of IWF's new speed in updating. in past we had each weight class result few minutes after the competition.
  16. IWF was always a corrupt organization but at least they were better in updating their websites. we always had live score for major tournaments plus start list for continental championships etc. but now even after a day still no sign of European Champs results. and for example they put Fajr Cup tournament in Tehran (which happened a month ago) just few days ago ! quite an improvement specially this year where all these results matter for the Olympic qualification while there is no official start list for the Asian Championship in China, there are news that king of doping Ilya Ilyin is back (this time to really participate) but at 96kg !!!!!! he had two "no marks" already and this is his last chance in this window. if he doesn't show up or bombs out there will be no chance for him to qualify. this could be a hell of a competition in this weight in Asia with him, Tian Tao (assuming he will participate at home), Moradi and Rostami from Iran. but Moradi is still injured. (good news he doesn't need a surgery and will recover soon) and the biggest jerk ever Rostami just pulled out of the team couple days ago claiming he is not happy with the support he is receiving !!! I'm not going to write all of his super stupid comments but this guy is simply unbelievable. for couple months he was more committed into training, knowing Moradi is injured and with a back surgery he will most probably miss the Olympics but now Moradi is back on his feet he started his stupid games again. another important weightlifter for Iran is Saeid Alihosseini, (the only man in the world who can giggle Talakhadze at least) he was also injured in past few months but despite not "being ready" he is still going to this competition just to have a result and keep his chance alive. if he bombs out this will be the end of his career.
  17. in Iran, beside the ID (like every other country) people have something else which is more like a booklet, I can't find an English word for that apparently that's unique for Iran and Afghanistan, some sources use the word "birth certificate" but this is much more than just that. the last page of this is for the elections, whenever you vote they stump (which is unique for each election) on that. you can't vote again in the same election. another "unique" thing about Iran is there is no ticket or registration, you just have to show up anywhere you want bring your "thing" and your ID and vote. this is always on a Friday (holiday in Iran) and since everything is political in Iran even "voting" (I mean just the act of voting, not voting for who) so many people only decide to vote or not during the Friday or half an hour before the end of it.
  18. per IWF the Uzbek guy Djungabaev is tested positive for doping and now waiting for his suspension. when I read that the first thing came to my mind was your post but the problem is IWF anti-doping news section didn't mention when it happened . now in April 2019 it's hard to believe that's for his World Championship sample but you never know PS: his last competition was Qatar Cup in December 2018. that's probably where he got caught (or maybe an out of competition test) but knowing his surprising sudden improvement he wasn't clean at the Worlds for sure .
  19. another world record for Talakhadze. how boring this guy is
  20. Always nice to see Heiki "doing nothing" Lucky goes home empty handed. as usual he did nothing in bronze medal match, his opponent also did nothing . for weird magical reasons cautions usually go in his favors but this time it was against the host nation Romania so no, not this time.
  21. 3 one-sided final so far. 3 golds for Russia, that was really a wrestling lesson from Vlasov for that poor German guy
  22. well that's stupid. extremely stupid. because of the current Olympic qualification rules which limited top countries to 4 or even 2 maximum the level will be low at the Olympics he could be a strong medal contender.
  23. I didn't follow this. but I assume he bombed out , right ? he also bombed out in Fajr Cup in Tehran, which means he has no result in past 6 months, which means 0 points for him in first window. so no technically he can't qualify for the Olympics. for Olympic qualificatioin, best result in each window plus the next best one will be counted. for Ismailov his best result in first window is 0. and that's impossible to qualify with 3 results comparing to 4 of others.
  24. unfortunately you are right. Kazakhstan was never a "fair" host in wrestling competitions. but it's more up to UWW to have "real draw" or let the organizers put a virus into their drawing software I have to say I wasn't "that impressed" with the level. we only had few interesting finals. and Russia didn't bring some of A team members. I think most countries have long term training plans for the World Championship which is the main Olympic qualifier. in Asia (at least for Iran) the Asian Championship is usually part of the preparation plans for the World Championship. that's never the target competition.(unlike the Asian Games) I had the feeling this European Champs was also something like that for some countries.
  25. You mean having a team competition during the tournament ? I don't think so. wrestling was never like that. unlike Judo. we have a "World Cup" which is for team competition but we never saw all top teams send all of their best wrestlers. usually only the host nation takes it very serious. we have "team title" like that in other sports like Taekwondo and Weightlifting too. but people don't care much about them but in wrestling it was always traditionally important.
