  1. and Taliban still doesn't recognize the government of Afghanistan. and they don't talk to the government as they still consider it "USA's puppet" ! it's still hard to think how peace is possible this way. they may make peace with USA but not with Afghanistan people. as we share the same language I was following the social media today and people in Afghanistan are mostly worried about this "peace deal" they think Taliban just wants its prisoners released and when American troops (or some of them) withdraw they will start again. btw Taliban can't be "part" of the government, because they want it all.
  2. actually I think that was the right decision. first Pakistan has no "real control" over its borders, if someone really wants to cross the border he does. better let people do it legally and at least monitor them to see if they are infected or not. beside that, I'm quite sure almost nobody from Iran travels to Pakistan, it's not like Turkey or Iraq where people have business there or travel for holidays, even Afghanistan has lots of cultural similarities with Iran, but Pakistan ? no way. all of those guys were Pakistanis in Iran and after all Pakistan had to let its own citizens in.
  3. it seems so http://www.worldtaekwondo.org/australia-new-zealand-and-tonga-secure-places-at-tokyo-2020-olympic-games/ The W-49kg saw no athlete qualify after an athlete disqualification due to being over the weight limit for that category and two athletes no shows.
  4. Yes Malia Paseka was the only entry for 67kg and grabbed the free quota and of course Safwan Khalil won men's 58kg quota as expected but apparently nobody registered for 49kg ! which is weird because there were 3 girls in the preliminary list, two from and and other TGA/PNG athletes in the list showed up and finished the competition. I was reading the official document, can't see anything there about a situation like this. but I assume normally the quota should go to the next best athlete in the World Ranking which was Yvette Yong from Canada.
  5. just finished watching the finals. the followings qualified for the Olympics and Pita qualified too ! all finals were one sided maybe except 68kg were the PNG guy showed some resistance 68 Thomas Burns 80 Jack Morton +80 Pita Taufatofua 57 Stacey Hymer +67 Reba Stewart no mention of who qualified in other weights in that live stream !
  6. https://unitedworldwrestling.org/article/2020-asian-olympic-qualifier-cancelled-due-spread-coronavirus "United World Wrestling is now considering other solutions and discussions with the International Olympic Committee will be continued next week." I wonder how many options they have left ?! I highly doubt they can find a host in Asia for March, and having the event outside of Asia is also impossible. no country in the world will accept that. also this sport is not like Rowing, they can't mix it into the last World QT, but who knows, maybe they really do that, something like 2 next best Asian wrestler outside of top 2 will qualify too ?! but that will be insane because in wrestling ranking outside of top 6 is random. mostly depends on your luck to meet some very weak wrestlers in first or second rounds and beat them by big score. the world ranking is mostly a joke and they know it, I highly doubt they consider that to qualify 2 in each weight. another idea is what FINA did, considering the last Asian tournament as the AQT but then China won't accept it they didn't participate. or maybe next best 2 Asian wrestlers at the last World Championships ? that's even more stupid bottom line, I really hope they find a host by miracle. all other options are stupid and unfair.
  7. or maybe he is confident about qualifying through the world ranking and wants to help other African nations ?! this just a guess, I'm saying this without checking the official rules and the current WR but I know he is in top 20
  8. quick review about what happened in 1st day of Austrian K1 event regarding Olympic qualification Women's Kata I think the qualification is done, we know the name of 4 qualified athletes here, Grace Lau and Sakura Kokumai joined and Women's 50kg only 3 athletes are left to grab the last quota and join it will be between Bahmanyar, Plank and Hubrich. despite poor result here Bahmanyar still has a much better chance. Women's 55kg it's not over yet for Jana Messerschmidt, she is in the final and if she wins the gold she will be closer to Wen (TPE) , Wen herself will fight for bronze. was already qualified before the event. Men's 60kg we knew is already qualified, it was between Creszezo and Samdan and the Italian beat the Turk in the SF. which means he will have something 1000pts advantage before the last 2 events. Men's 67kg was already qualified, Figueira had a good chance to seal the deal today but lost to some random guy from Austria. the Egyptian El-Sawy is now in bronze medal match he will close the gap to something like 300/400 before the last event for both of them. Men's 75kg despite not making to the final. both Luigi Busa and Rafael Aghayev are guaranteed an Olympic quota to join . the last quota will be between Horuna and Scott (with slim chance for Eltemur). Horuna made it to the final today to increase his chance massively
  9. that's a good question, but let's hope things will get better in two months and beside that in this specific sport there is a simple solution. they simply can let Asian weightlifters to participate in other continental Champs , yes I'm sure Chinese coaches monitor Moradi (and Rostami) situation but that guy Fares El-Bakh is now one of the favorites, Tian beating him is not a sure thing. and maybe (just maybe) Tian being unpredictable doesn't make him a "safe gold" for the Chinese coaches.
  10. that's not true, Iranian Wrestling Federation is as puzzled as everybody else, they called Kyrgyz NF to make sure about the news, the answer was Kyrgyzstan won't host the event not in March, not in April. nobody knows who will host the event and when. actually I can't see any country in Asia interested to host the event right now. all wrestling nations in Asia are either dealing with the virus or has strict travel ban . only Jordan was brave enough to accept to host Boxing and Taekwondo AQT but they don't want wrestling that's for sure.
  11. Sohrab Moradi set a very poor record in Dubai 370kg (163+207) this is disappointing but I guess that's just normal only few months after a shoulder surgery. this will be very funny/interesting if he doesn't qualify for the Olympics despite setting a new World record inside the qualification period ! well done to whoever created this qualification system. his chance is not dead yet, but if he wants to qualify himself (without thinking about other things) he needs something like his 416 WR at the Asian Championships , he has 2 months to prepare and gets better. but I think improving more than 30kg is almost impossible in 2 months. but Colombia's possible disqualification and the slim possibility of China "not picking" Tian Tao gives him a slim chance to qualify with even something like 390kg. I was looking at the ranking and it seems the following athletes are qualified for sure Tian (only if China sends him) El-Bakh Pliesnoi Santavy Yu (or someone else from Korea) Vallenilla or Luna I didn't count Rivas and Mkrtchyan and Tsikhantsou. assuming COL will be banned and ARM/BLR won't use their quota in this weight with no medal chance. next in the ranking are Yamamoto 3412 Saez 3264 Rasulbekov 3211 (will be 3219 when they update the ranking) Khugaev 3195 (probably won't be picked by Russia) Sohrab will be 2136 with this new result. if we count Saez as 8th placer, Sohrab needs something like 405kg to beat his score but if China decides to not send Tian, Rasulbekov will be in top 8 and Sohrab can grab the quota by 385 or 390 as the best ranked Asian weightlifter. and there is also another complication , if Iran has two top 8 at 109kg and +109kg, can Iran reject one of those quotas to get this one as "Asian quota" ? considering all those possibilities it seems our Olympic Champion won't be able to defend his title in Tokyo imagine someone like Saez (who is in fact a 89kg weightlifter) qualifies while his best result is just 366kg ! 50kg lower than Moradi's WR
  12. I can imagine Safwan Khalil is the only registered athlete for 58kg and most probably Malia Paseka for women's 67kg but I wonder who is that lucky girl for women's 49kg !? or ?
  13. I'm afraid with proper testing Iran should be 2nd in that table. the number of deaths clearly shows that unlike China (and other countries with responsible officials) in Iran they are not looking for infected people. you are counted only if you go to the hospital yourself and they test you 3 times ! and since it takes a day or two to have the results back I think the number in Iran will jump up massively before Sunday and from what I heard they are running out of hospitals in Qom. there are official news about making mobile hospitals. and it seems officials here are still underestimating the danger. a vice president was confirmed infected yesterday (highest-ranking woman in the government) and she was in a meeting with president and all other ministers a day before that. I don't think I feel sorry for them if they get infected, they created this mess by not taking the treat seriously. and meanwhile Iran banned Chinese citizens to enter Iran since yesterday (27 February), when you read this you probably think this is a joke but I'm afraid not !
  14. I think I'm fine with that to not see Iran in headlines related to war but seriously this is stupid to start a war right now (I know it's always stupid but sometimes it's more stupid) when there is a bigger enemy for the whole world to face !
  15. Asian Olympic Qualifiers (supposed to be held in South Korea) will be held in Switzerland as part of the final qualifier https://www.row2k.com/news/2-27-2020/Asian-Olympic-and-Paralympic-Qualifier-Regattas-and-Training-Camp-Cancelled--Rescheduled-to-Take-Place-in-Switzerland-and-Italy-in-May/123532/
  16. I guess you don't know much about borders between Iran and Pakistan. and Pakistani government doesn't have total control inside the country let alone the borders. they only "claim" they shut the borders. Iran only controls those borders because of terrorist groups inside Pakistan which wasn't active recently so I assume the border control is not strict these days. btw there are not much travel between Iran and Pakistan, comparing for example to Iran and Afghanistan which shut the borders for half a day but then re-opened it since they weren't able to manage the situation near the borders. as I showed that iran map, for now the virus is not much active in Southeast of the country but when it does, we will see positive cases in Pakistan too. that province next to Pakistan is the poorest in Iran, so I assume people travel less to that region, but on the other hand it has the worst health system.
  17. Iran Evan Band - Alijenab (Majesty) Lyrics
  18. and Pakistan too. both passengers coming from Iran
  19. you really didn't think people would listen to these guys, did you ? I'm quite sure nobody (including himself) will do such a thing. he sounds more like a fraud to me. and usually being Ayatollah gives you free card to say whatever you want with no consequences from the corrupt judicial system
  20. you know since today morning I heard lots of people making joke specially about the last line in social media but I didn't know what's the source of that. thanks to you now I know the answer is "not at all" ! being Ayatollah is in fact is not such a big deal. specially these days. there are religious schools in some cities (specially in that damned city of Qom, source of Corona) and when you graduate from them you will become a cleric, let's say being Ayatollah is equal to become PhD graduate in normal science. so there are lots of Ayatollahs here. only some of them are important, for example I never heard of this guy. I really don't know if this guy is this stupid or just try to say something "very stupid" to make a name for himself. both are possible. but I googled his name just now before clicking the send bottom and it seems this is not just one time, he has a story of saying super crazy things like this. and he even has an online shop for "Islamic medicine" ! I see some "Islamic soap" and "Islamic toothbrush" in the list ! there are crazy people everywhere in the world but what's disappointing is to see 107K people following this guy on telegram ! but I guess that's Qom. that's why I never visited that city and will never do. ps: I prefer to think maybe some of those guys just followed him to have something to laugh.
  21. Iran is technically in west Asia, but in some sports Iranian federations are in Central Asia zone. and I don't think Iran will participate in Central Asian Games. never heard of that. btw here is results for both finals M 4-1 W 4-3 not sure how long this video works but at least right now you can watch both finals here
  22. I'm watching the final ceremony now. Saudi Arabia won the men's quota and the Syrian girl indeed looks like a kid I was thinking why Iran is not in West Asia to win 2 quotas easily but now I'm glad this girl took it. Iran can live with one less quota
  23. that sounds good and fair. can you send some of those officials here to manage things ? only if they had quarantined Qom in the first place the situation would be much better now. but then that's a big city with more than a million , of course it's ghost town now here we were told to "stay at home" if we think we have symptoms and don't rush into hospitals ! (that's what I did myself ) cut contact with everybody and use mask if there is other person living at home. if you don't get better in 3-4 days then go to the hospital or go to hospital at any time you feel worse (and fortunately I still don't know what will happen after that) this is the flu season too that creates more problems. we were told that everything will be back to normal on Saturday but I'm sure most people won't let their children going to the schools. this map (from today) show how fast this is spreading here, you can't read anything but still you can see the colors Tehran and Qom are next to each other in darker orange . and I live in that tiny little province in yellow next to Tehran.
  24. Moradi is in Dubai and will participate on Friday, his entry is 360kg, while I'm sure he knows he needs something like 390 or more at least, assuming he will be in better shape in April and will lift more at the Asian Championships and that early trip turned out to be a smart move, other Iranian weightlifters (coaches, etc) missed the event because of flight's cancellation
