  1. the thing is it will take centuries for IWF to finish the case and officially suspend the dopers, we are still waiting to know the final decision about Armenia's 20th case. I don't know what they will do if they don't finalize the case in time and before the end of April.
  2. always check this link . the only good thing about IWF is they publish the names even after the initial test https://www.iwf.net/category/anti-doping-news/ Ana Iris SEGURA Juan Felipe SOLIS ARBOLEDA Yenny SINISTERRA
  3. if I'm not wrong that means Colombia will be banned from the Olympics. because of having 3 cases inside the qualification period. that's a big news, Colombia was going to benefit a lot from all these suspensions and limitations but they got caught too
  4. I assumed our federation is not aware of that. 3 of our fencers stayed in Poland to travel to Italy later just to participate in that World Cup. the way the virus is spreading so fast and Iranians (or those who traveled to Iran) are discovered being sick in different countries , there is fear that other countries may put a blanket ban on Iranian citizens. they are not sure if they can come back to Europe again if they come home
  5. and seeding and favorites for the AQT in last 3 weights 74kg: #1 Jitender #2 Hosseinkhani #3 Zandanbud I think Jitender will represent India at the AQT, not sure about Hosseinkhani at all but if not, Zandanbud most probably will take the 2nd seed. the next guy is from Iraq !! are already qualified, I think is the big favorite here, are the next best. with behind them. guy got seriously injured at the worlds and didn't wrestle since then, he can be in that group if healthy, slim chance for also there is a chance to see Batirov in the competition. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 86kg: #1 Yamada #2 Shapiev #3 Takatani #4 Dauletbekov Japan will send Takatani and not that Yamada guy. but I'm not sure about Uzbekistan, they have two guys named Shapiev, not sure which one will wrestle. are already qualified, no clear favorite but I think is a bit better with next to him. slim chance for . and if that guy solves his problem with LBN federation he will be one of the favorites too. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 125kg: #1 Batirmurzayev #2 Dorjkhand #3 Nam almost sure both top seeds will participate are already qualified, is the clear favorite and very talented. he is 95% guaranteed a quota. I think next are and then of course only India bring that guy Sumit, the new guy has no chance. slim chance for too. beside that I don't know who Uzbekistan will send to the AQT, their main guy failed the drug test and the wrestler they sent here was very bad. they have one month left to check the Russian market and buy a new one !
  6. it was a disappointing tournament for Iran in freestyle, yes they won the team title after all but at very least I was expecting 4 golds. Hadi lost by a moment of carelessness and Bazri was a total disaster, he did the same mistake 3 times, giving up big throws to someone much weaker than himself, ended up losing 10-10 ! he could tech the guy 10-0 if he was just a bit smarter. guys like Bazri and Goleij will never win anything special. just pushing and pushing is not even nice to watch I really can say all 10 wrestlers underperformed , they only guy who did OK was Ebrahimi. and it created more problems for our coaches to pick the right guy for 65kg and 74kg. it will be risky to send "new guys" to the Olympic qualifiers but they tested everybody, maybe it's time to test someone else. we had better plan in Greco and they won 5 gold medals which is interesting because freestyle is the most popular style here. we always claim we have depth in freestyle (comparing to Greco) but apparently that's not correct anymore. yes we have 2-3 big stars in FS but in general our Greco program is working better.
  7. 2nd day freestyle finals: 61kg: Ikromov vs Zholdoshbekov 74kg: Jitender vs Kaisanov 86kg: Yamada vs Bazri 92kg: Otsu vs Ebrahimi 125kg: Dorjkhand vs Batirmurzayev I was very wrong with my predictions, only 4 out of 9 it was another disastrous morning session still hard to believe how come Hadi lost to this Kazakh giant, Kazakh guy threw and pinned him in 30 seconds, probably just an accident but this is maybe the end of Hadi's career. at 61kg, Dastan tried hard against the Kyrgyz guy but did just one mistake gave up 4 pts and that was enough for Zholdoshbekov to win the match 4-2. he also beat Aware in SF , advanced to the final and therefore put Dastan back for the bronze medal match. we had another surprise from Tajikistan, who took advantage of easy draw to most probably win a silver medal. 74kg, what I can say about Hosseinkhani, the score was 2-2 with 2 minutes left and he did almost nothing. this is another weight we may not qualify at all we are running out of options in this weight too. I really don't think Jitender is anything special, Hosseinkhani is a choker, no matter against who he always finds a way to lose matches narrowly I was expecting an easy final between Bazri and Punia but I was very wrong, I have to say this guy Deepak is still FAR from world level. yes he won silver in Nur-Sultan but that was mostly because of magic Kazakh draw. this Yamada guy from Japan is not even their #1 wrestler ! I also expected much more from Bazri, he gives up point very easily. he almost lost the first match. with this poor defense he will never win anything special. and in race for the team title, after this session, India has 154 and Iran has 153 by my count, I already considered 86kg as bronze for India since Kyrgyz won't show up against Deepak. India has 2 more wrestlers to add 10 more points while Iran has 5 and can add 25 more. it was a very poor day for Iran but still India's poor performance (specially at 61 and 86) will most probably give the team title for Iran.but after Hadi's defeat today I has learned to not be sure about anything in wrestling even though winning the team title with only 3 gold medals (max possible for Iran) is considered a very bad result.
  8. @heywoodu Dutch FM was just here today, do they test him in his way back home to Amsterdam ? but the situation is getting more and more serious here. they cancelled all gatherings including all sport competitions (cancelled or will be played behind closed doors) nationwide and also closed schools and universities in several provinces including mine.
  9. Qualified athletes today Men's +80kg: Women's 67kg: Men's 58kg: Women's 49kg:
  10. Let's take a look at seeding and favorites for the AQT in 3 weights finished today 57kg: #1 Takahashi #2 Erdenebat #3 Vohidov it's a sure thing Japan will send Rei Higuchi to the AQT, so I think MGL and TJK will be seeded are already qualified, I think will be huge favorites, all of them capable of winning Olympic medal, next is and maybe . maybe with a super dream draw stands a chance too ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 65kg: #1 Ali #2 Maghsoudi #3 Son #4 Rakhmonov I'm only sure that Russian-Bahraini guy will participate, Iran and UZB may send different wrestlers, you never know about PRK are already qualified, I assume Bekbulatov is not eligible, so I think will be favorites are probably next to them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 97kg: #1 Musaev #2 Goleij #3 Ibragimov #4 Mohammadian #5 Kadian seeding looks complicated in this weight, if nothing special happens Iran will send Mohammadian and not Goleij, which means Musaev and Ibragimov will be seeded. is already qualified. will be huge favorite, is 2nd by a good margin over the rest. I think Iran and Uzbekistan will qualify unless they fall in the same half of the draw. next are and then
  11. here is men's semifinals per that weird link +80kg: Seydou Gbane beat Newton Maliro Nambani Benjamin Okuomose vs Anthony Obame 58kg: Mohamed Khalil Jendoubi vs Omar Lakehal Solomon Demse vs Moustapha Kama
  12. one thing is for sure that you never can underestimate lightweight Japanese wrestlers, specially if the guy is a former world champion Bajrang looked like the better wrestler for most of the match but the scoreboard shows something totally different. Otoguro had a plan and he executed it very well. one thing I don't understand about India is why they send their best wrestlers to almost all possible tournaments. I understand they have different method of training and preparation but beside exhausting their own wrestlers, this way they will give more chances to the others to analyze them. to me right now Ravi Kumar is the best 57kg wrestler in the world or at least 2nd behind Uguev. his match vs Uguev was close in Nur-Sultan and I think he can beat Uguev right now if they wrestle again but those Russian coaches are master in analyzing opponents. they always find a way to create a perfect plan for their wrestlers. btw Iran finished the first day with 1-1-2 medals and 12 pts behind India. the afternoon session wasn't great for India as they lost 4 of 5 finals. looking at the brackets for tomorrow Iran still has a good chance for the team title. I believe Indian 125kg wrestler won't make it to the medal round but then I can say the same about our 61kg guy. but still if Iran wins all other 4 remaining gold medals they can win the team title. as I said I expect 3 at least. and one last thing, Maghsoudi failed miserably today despite winning the bronze. they have to try someone else for the AQT but the question is do we have anybody else in this weight ? they tried out everybody in past 2 years and all of them failed. this is highly possible for Iran to fail to qualify a full freestyle team for the 2nd time in history. (and even in that first time it happened only because one guy didn't make weight, he didn't lost the quota on the mat)
  13. 1st day of freestyle finalists 57: Vokhidov vs Ravi 65: Otoguro vs Bajrang 70: Hosseini vs Bekbulatov 79: Gourav vs Budazhapov 97: Kadian vs Goleij I predicted 7 of the finalists correctly (7 out of 9 actually) , I forgot that Vokhidov guy at 57kg and of course I didn't know this guy Budazhapov who is a very good Russian wrestler. it was quite a day for India, 4 in the final, only Hosseini spoiled their party in the last semifinal. as for Iran, the results are disappointing but expected. it was exactly my prediction to see Hosseini and Goleij in the final. Savadkouhi had gold medal in his pocket IMO but made some stupid mistakes and had a terrible strategy in his semifinal. hearing the conversation our coach was ready to slap him after the match, he was extremely angry ! Sarlak lost narrowly to Sanayev and got eliminated when Ravi Kumar ran over The Kazakh guy. I really think this guy Ravi Kumar is now a gold medal candidate for the Olympics, he keeps improving ! and Maghsoudi was the biggest disappointment of the day ! I didn't expect him to beat Bajrang but what the hell was that ! he beat that Russian kid Kurban Shiraev in World Juniors final few months ago and now Shiraev is the European Champion while Maghsoudi got destroyed by Bajrang. I think Ravi, Bekbulatov, Budzhapov and Goleij will win the gold later today, to me they are all easy predictions. the most interesting match is 65kg final with those 2 guys repeat of that amazing 2018 World Champs final. Goleij was the same as usual. only pushing and pushing. that will bring him gold in Asia but that doesn't help against better wrestlers. I would consider him #5 in Iran but since Mohammadian is preparing for the AQT and the other guys were unavailable they had to send him. but this is a waste of time, he is not going to improve. India will be in the lead after the first day with probably a good margin over Iran but I think we have better wrestlers for the 2nd day, except for 61kg the other guys will be favorite for the gold. at least 3 of them. and one last thing, Kazakhstan finished 2nd in World Championship only behind Russia, with getting some helps from that magical draw software ! now they are bringing almost the same squad here, only their 70kg guy was different, but none of them made it to the final today ! speaking of cheating with no shame
  14. any chance to have the brackets ? the competition starts tomorrow. WT is terrible in covering anything else than their own competitions they really deserved to be WTF ! btw, this is not WTA, this is WT Africa !
  15. let me tell you 99.999999% of those Iranians living in LA never visited Qom in their entire life.
  16. Yes I saw the brackets, I have to say the level is much better than what I was expecting. India is not the only team bringing A squad. but for Iran this is not our A team, even in non-Olympic weights. but still some of these guys claim to be our #1. so we are still expecting to win the team title. I have to say brackets are quite unbalanced in most weights. they probably used that Kazakhstani software once again even though I don't see any specific country taking advantage of it. but I can say almost all of Iranian wrestlers are in bottom half and facing tough draw. here is my quick review and prediction about all 10 weights. 57kg: the magical draw put almost everybody in bottom half, it will be UZB and KGZ in top half, both of them unknown to me, but in bottom half we have 3 current or former world medalists + Mongolia and Iran !! former world champion Takahashi will face Ravi Kumar in first round , Ravi beat him in Nur-Sultan but that doesn't guarantee him another win. Nurislam Sanayev (aka Artas Sanaa from Russia) is also there. I don't see much chance for our Sarlak. still it will be really hard to pick between those 3 top guys. my pick for the final: vs 61kg: once again most of the favorites are in the bottom half, I think top half will be between JPN and KOR. there are two Russian born wrestlers representing Bahrain and Philippines but as far as I know they are not that good. we have some big names in bottom half, but to me it will be between Aware of IND and that Kyrgyz guy who is really good and dangerous. our wrestler Majid Dastan is also there but again I can't see much chance for him. he is #3 in this weight in Iran. my pick: vs 65kg: this one is bit more balances, we have two big names in top half Otoguro and Niyazbekov, plus very good wrestlers from Mongolia and Bahrain (of course Russian born) in bottom half Bajrang is the clear favorite but I like to hope that our Maghsoudi has some tricks in his sleeves Maghsoudi has chance to be our representative at the Olympic qualifier if he performs well here. this is our weakest weight in freestyle and coaches are trying everybody, this time is Maghsoudi's turn. my pick: vs 70kg: the level is not that great since this is a non-Olympic weight, I'm not convinced about our guy in this weight but since I don't know much about his opponents here I prefer to be optimistic . but in bottom half we have a clear favorite, former European Champion Bekbulatov who is now representing Uzbekistan my pick: vs 74kg: top half will be about the SF between Kaisanov and Takatani. bottom half will be more interesting , Uzbeks didn't send their top guy Abdurakhmanov so I think our Hosseinkhani has a good chance there. but he is coming from a surgery so I'm not so sure about him. my pick: vs 79kg: this one is hard for me to predict, all of those guys are unknown to me ! I only know that Kazakh guy (5th place at the worlds and Olympics) so I don't make a prediction about this weight, it seems all 8 wrestlers are capable of winning medal. my pick: vs 86kg: balanced draw here, I think Bazri will be favorite for the top half, yes he is #3 in Iran but only behind two very great wrestlers, I expect him to win the gold. in bottom half Deepak of India is the biggest name but then that Kyrgyz guy (do I need to say he is originally Russian ?) is also good. my pick: vs 92kg: all good 8 wrestling nations in Asia have wrestlers in this weight, again hard to predict, but I can say Ebrahimi is the huge favorite for the gold. I can't predict the other finalist. my pick: vs 97kg: looks like walk in the part for Kadian in top half, but bottom half is a different story, I think I will pick our pushout specialist Goleij from the bottom half. he is a terrible wrestler but he can push anybody out of the mat ! my pick: vs 125kg: no clear favorite in top half but I think that Mongolian guy is a bit better but that Korean guy Nam is quite a fighter. in bottom half obviously my pick is Parviz Hadi but he is coming from an injury, still I can't see anybody capable of beating him. my pick: vs
  17. it seems what you read was indeed correct, there are Chinese workers in Qom (very surprising for me) and they are presumed to be the source ! on Tuesday Corona didn't exist in Iran (according to officials on that day), it was 5 cases on Thursday morning and 18 on Friday ! (4 death already) 11 of them in Qom but other 7 are also related to Qom. and two Iranians traveling to Canada and Lebanon are also confirmed to be sick
  18. Jordan is going to host the Asian Olympic Qualifier instead of China.
  19. I know they are building another highway between Qom and Tehran (maybe it's done already ?! I didn't travel that path to see that myself) but not sure about Chinese workers, in Iran they mostly use Afghan workers because of being cheap. googled about it and found nothing. so I guess the correct answer is "I don't know" that's possible but kind of unlikely.
  20. now you told me this, I think I can tell you why he didn't participate, considering he also participated in Italian tournament at 82kg (and not his own weight class) it seems he has problems making weight for 77kg and prefers to do it only once for the Olympic Qualifiers, cutting weight twice in a period of one month is not a wise idea, that's why some top wrestlers were absent here, for example none of Iranian wrestlers here are planned to wrestle at the AQT except just one who is already underweight for his wight class (97kg) and doesn't need to cut weight. I think the same applies for all other countries. yeah Sunil Kumar is a tough guy in standing position. Nouri had hard time against him, (it was in 2019, not 2018) because Nouri is not a par-terre specialist and he only beat opponents by tiring them down. and obviously it didn't work very well against Sunil. this year Nouri finished 5th in our pre-trials, we most probably will send Ramin Taheri to the AQT but Taheri is more or less the same type of wrestler. so Sunil isn't without a chance against him. I think I prefer them in opposite sides of the draw in AQT
  21. no, at least we know none of those 5 confirmed cases ever traveled to China which means the situation is more serious. and Qom has no connection with any other places ! the last place in the world a Chinese tourist wants to visit. that's a sure thing Qom is not the source of Corona in Iran, that's somewhere else we just don't know that yet ! there are two other suspected cases in other cities (one in Tehran) but right now only Qom is in red situation, but I can see even in my own town people are lining in pharmacies to buy face masks !
  22. So the coronavirus finally came to Iran, already with causalities, 5 confirmed, 2 of them already dead and it came from the city of Qom ! (the last place you would expect) it seems here in Iran all bad/terrible things come from that city they shot down the schools and other things in the town. still there will be parliament election tomorrow at the worst possible time ! (even though most people are going to boycott that election nationwide but still not in that pro-regime town) and from the reactions I saw today it seems fear is worse than the virus itself.
  23. After the first day of women's freestyle, India is leading the team ranking by 11pts over Japan. the Asian team title had never won by any team other than Japan or China. will be interesting if India manages to stay on top for the 2nd day. but looking at the brackets for the 2nd day Japan has some big names for tomorrow.
  24. I have no idea why India didn't use this guy in this tournament, but I assume he and this kid Sajan are more or less in the same level. actually I'm surprised Sajan didn't medal here. well I wouldn't consider Gurpreet as "definitely your best GR wrestler" he won gold in a non-Olympic weight with mediocre level while Sunil Kumar won silver in an Olympic weight only losing 2-1 to Lorincz and since he also won the gold here (thanks to little help from our doped wrestler by eliminating Assakalov) I would give that title to Sunil Kumar. If you ask me India has a good chance to qualify at 77, 87 and 97. but draw and luck will play a big role here. I mean at 77kg if you get Kim HW in your bracket you are almost already out. India's chance is probably better at 87kg, Sunil will be seeded and he only has to avoid our Taheri to make sure about the qualification. but I believe both for GR and Women's freestyle this is highly possible to have less than 7 wrestlers in some weights and things change into group round format. which is obviously more fair in my opinion.
  25. if UWW works as planned these guys will be seeded for the Asian Qualifiers, of course only if their NOC sends them ! even though I heard some rumors that they don't want to give ranking points to the Asian Champs because some countries were absent, that sounds nonsense to me though and remember if less than 8 wrestlers participate, the whole thing will be different because they will use the round robin (or 2 groups) format. 60kg: #1 Sharshenbekov #2 Walihan #3 Al-Beedhan I'm almost sure KGZ won't send this guy to the AQT, so it will most probably China and Iraq being seeded. if any of them doesn't show up the next seed will be Tajikistan and Thailand ! are already qualified, I think will be huge favorites, didn't send anybody to the Asian Champs but I'm sure they will send a decent wrestler to the AQT. is the next best guy with a distance. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 67kg: #1 Ryu #2 Bakhshilloev #3 Ashu I think both top 2 seeds will participate and will be in two sides of the draw no quota for Asia yet in this weight making it very difficult. I think Ryu Han-Su is the one everybody wants to avoid. is the next favorite behind him, KOR and KAZ being in the same side will be dream draw for everybody else in bottom half. I can put in next places, then it will be not far behind them and again with a little distance. also may surprise as usual with someone unknown. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 77kg: #1 Al-Bidhan #2 Iilaz-Uulu #3 Eid #4 Sajan seeding is kind of funny in this weight, I'm not sure if any of those 4 guys participate, KGZ most probably will send someone else, Iraq and Jordan are weak and they may not participate. India also has another good wrestler in this weight. actually the 4th seed is Japan but it's a sure thing they will send someone else. are already qualified, the biggest name everybody wants to avoid is the Olympic Champion Kim Hyeon-Woo. the next best guy is Yang and then we have and then not far behind. blind draw will play a big role in this weight. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 87kg: #1 Sunil #2 Kustubayev #3 Na I think both top 2 seeds will participate. are already qualified, despite that shameful show in this Asian Champs the main favorite is still I see both top seeds behind him as next best guys. then it's . also with slim chance for ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 97kg: #1 Saravi #2 Lee #3 Shamsiddinov I think it's almost a sure thing both top 2 seeds will participate no quota for Asia yet, I think is the huge favorite, Saravi is the one everybody wants to avoid. then I can some wrestlers almost in the same level and with a little distance ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 130kg: #1 Abdullaev #2 Ramonov #3 Kim top 2 seeds will participate if nothing special happens is already qualified. it will be a close battle between it's really hard for me to separate them is the next best guy and maybe very slim chance for highly possible to see a round robin format in this weight with less than 8 wrestlers registering.
