  1. it seems I was very optimistic when I said then will post the draw in 2 hours. I don't know when that IOC task force will publish it. Iranian boxing federation only published first round opponents for Iranian boxers, we will have lots of IRN/CHN in the first round none of them will face KAZ or UZB in the first round which is a good thing. even though considering our current level any boxer will be considered "tough" for our boxers.
  2. because that's not happened yet, it will start in half an hour. I think we will have the brackets in 2 hours.
  3. I wonder if Paralympic athletes count. today we heard a tragic news in middle of all these disasters Siamand Rahman, two time Paralympics Champion in Powerlifting, (2012 and 2016) current World record holder died today from heart attack at the age of 31 he was the most famous Paralympics athlete in Iran and maybe one of the best in the world . RIP
  4. 25-29 March in Baku, Azerbaijan and yes I think the only way Quirici stays ahead of her in the ranking is cancelling both events, I highly doubt she can defend her points from 2019. but in fact that's more important for our Karateka Rozita Alipour ! because even right now Gong Li is almost guaranteed the Asian quota (she is the best ranked Asian athlete) but if she qualifies directly, that quota goes to Alipour at 61kg. of course it's not 100% guaranteed because some weird things may happen at the Last chance qualifier in Paris, they will award continental quotas after the Paris tournament.
  5. my ranking after removing 2019 European results Men's Kata Damian Quintero - 9247.5 Q Ali Sofuoglu - 6202.5 Q Antonio Diaz - 5205 Q Mattia Busato - 4140 Q Men's 60kg Darkhan Assadilov - 10387.5 Q Angelo Crescenzo - 8100 Eray Samdan - 7342.5 Men's 67kg Steven Dacosta - 7950 Q Vinicius Figueira - 6832.5 Ali El-Sawy - 6472.5 Men's 75kg Bahman Askari - 9262.5 Q Luigi Busa - 6750 Q Rafael Aghayev - 6255 Q Stanislav Horuna - 5137.5 Thomas Scott - 5047.5 Erman Eltemur - 3712.5 Gabor Harspataki - 3232.5 Men's 84kg Ugur Aktas - 9382.5 Q Zabihollah Poursheib - 9225 Ivan Kvesic - 6517.5 Men's +84kg Sajjad Ganjzadeh - 8617.5 Jonathan Horne - 7072.5 Gogita Arkania - 6630 Women's Kata Sandra Sanchez - 11452.5 Q Viviana Bottaro - 7275 Q Grace Lau - 6300 Q Sakura Kokumai - 5887.5 Q Women's 50kg Serap Ozcelik - 10792.5 Q Sara Bahmanyar - 5647.5 Bettina Plank - 4507.5 Shara Hubrich - 4267.5 Women's 55kg Anzhelika Terliuga - 9022.5 Q Wen Tzu-Yun - 7080 Jana Messerschmidt - 5677.5 Women's 61kg Yin Xiaoyan - 10545 Q Giana Lotfy - 7710 Q Merva Coban - 6037.5 Jovana Prekovic - 5452.5 Haya Jumaa - 5137.5 Rozita Alipour - 5107.5 Leila Heurtault - 4515 Gwendoline Philippe - 4440 Women's 68kg Irina Zaretska - 9217.5 Q Gong Li - 6412.5 Feryal Abdelaziz - 6075 Elena Quirici - 5775 Silvia Semeraro - 5160 Women's +68kg Hamideh Abbasali - 6997.5 Q Sofya Berultseva - 5467.5 Meltem Hocaoglu - 5107.5 Clio Ferracuti - 4987.5 Eleni Chatziliadou - 4905
  6. yes I wanted to write the same. just wow ! there are so many bad things about WKF but I really respect them alot only because of this ! and remember this can be the final ranking. apparently there were rumors in the arena today that the next K1 event will be cancelled. but still I will calculate my ranking assuming we will have both Morocco event and the Europeans.
  7. not complaining , I like Poursheib a lot , he is such a great person but still I prefer Ganjzadeh to qualify.
  8. ooff, that looked like a serious knee injury for Abbasali with only 4-5 seconds left. she managed to finish it while barely standing but I just hope that's nothing serious. the good thing is she qualified for the Olympics with this and she doesn't need that final trip to Morocco.
  9. Kvesic withdrew from the final. obviously he (or his coaches) knows the rules very well
  10. 394 new cases + 11 deaths in last 24 hours 66% increase in just one day but that was expected, unfortunately I think we will see the same percentage in the rest of the week. and now Tehran is way ahead of Qom , almost half of the number is from Tehran.
  11. well you have to learn to keep your distance from everybody. that's what I'm doing in past few days. I'm somehow getting obsessed with it, "don't touch anything, don't get close to anybody" even when I watch people shaking hands or hugging in a movie, I feel something wrong is happening (no kidding I really feel like that before I realize it's just a movie) but yet you coughed on me here still that little distance between us (not much, just 12000km) helped me btw I have to tell you from first hand experience that fear itself is worse than any virus
  12. South Korea is not going to host Asian Championships + Asian Zonal Olympic Qualifiers in April. they will most probably postpone the event for couple of months , Kuwait and Uzbekistan are considering hosting the event.
  13. well it's a complicated situation, if I was from Afghanistan I wouldn't want American troops in my country at all. but then I also would't want Taliban ! Taliban is not a political party that you can make "peace" with them by giving them some power. they don't believe in women's rights and this is not something they negotiate about. I was just listening to one of Taliban's leader in Doha and they don't even call the Afghan government as "government" they call it "Kabul's ruler" or something like that. they were really happy after the deal, they think they won. well I think we will see after a year who is the real winner here. I just wish the best of luck for the people of Afghanistan, I know they suffered a lot. I know they badly want peace, but they also don't want Taliban.
  14. Nope that's not fake. exaggerated yes but not fake . but you should not follow that twitter account, I checked it and that belongs to some anti IR groups. they are even worse in term of having no shame in spreading lies and rumors. they are supporting the son of former Iranian dictator Mohammad-Reza Pahlavi and they want to bring "democracy" by installing another dictator. they use every single opportunity to create chaos. apparently there were rumors in the town that they are transferring patients directly from Qom to Bandar-Abbas and into that clinic, some people stupidly believed that and got angry, they threw few things and set a fire, it's not like they burned down the building . but if someone checks the map, Qom and Bandar-Abbas are more than 1000km away from each other ! you have to be extremely stupid to believe such rumor. yes of course Qom is running out of hospitals but first they are creating mobile hospitals and even if they want to transfer patients, they will send them to Tehran, Karaj, Isfahan, there are LOTS of big towns closer than Bandar-Abbas. but yes that's true, people are panicking and obviously people don't trust the government and believe rumors easily (specially after that Ukrainian plane story) and I guess some of those stupid guys didn't want somebody sick from Qom in their town ! even though their beloved city is already infected. but no matter what, that was obviously disgusting
  15. 2020 IWF Junior World Championships, Bucharest, ROU – cancelled! https://www.iwf.net/2020/02/29/2020-iwf-junior-world-championships-bucharest-rou-cancelled/
  16. yes obviously and that's what scared some people in Afghanistan, specially women. as we know how Taliban thinks of women. USA will withdraw all troops from Afghanistan and Taliban will guarantee not doing terrorist attacks in USA soil (or on USA citizens) problem solved for USA, disaster starts for the people of Afghanistan.
  17. 2nd day review Men's Kata we knew about , now Mattia Busato is also qualified which means the end of qualification in this event. Men's 84kg Ugur Aktas guaranteed an Olympic spot today, Ivan Kvesic also made sure he will be 3rd in the final ranking. he can't go up or down, it's not in his hands anymore. ironically it's better for him to lose the final to Aktas ! he needs some help from Aktas and also another Iranian Ganjzadeh at +84kg Men's +84kg 3 athletes left for 2 quotas, Ganjzadeh, Horne and Arkania. none of them made it to the final and only Arkania will be in bronze medal match. Ganjzadeh will have something like 1500pts advantage over both Horne and Arkania which means he will have a good chance to finish 1st, still that won't be enough if Poursheib tops 84kg. Arkania is also closing the gap with Horne, in case Ganjzadeh qualifies, Arkania needs to beat Horne to qualify himself. complicated situation for all 5 athletes involved ! Women's 61kg it was a big day for Coban and Jumaa the both made it to the final, Merve Coban is very close to qualify now. Haya Jumaa also moved up the ranking, if she wins the gold she will be next to Prekovic. but since there will be 1 more event for the Europeans, Coban and Prekovic are still big favorites for the quotas to join and . there is still slim chance for Alipour and two French girls. Women's 68kg we knew is already qualified, Gong Li and Feryal made it to the final only 100 pts separate these 2 girls, so whoever wins the gold tomorrow will be in 2nd place . that final can act like a direct Olympic qualification at the end of the day. there is still chance for Quirici (and also very slim chance for Semeraro) Women's +68kg It was a great day for Hamided Abbasali, she is not mathematically qualified yet but I can say it's 95% safe for her, she will qualify if she wins the gold tomorrow. but after her there is a close battle between Berultseva, Ferracuti, Hocaoglu and Chatziliadou. right now Berultseva is leading and she can add more points if she wins the bronze tomorrow but all other girls are European and have one more chance. Ferracuti is in the final and winning the gold will be very important for her. but still less than 400pts separate those 4 girls.
  18. and Taliban still doesn't recognize the government of Afghanistan. and they don't talk to the government as they still consider it "USA's puppet" ! it's still hard to think how peace is possible this way. they may make peace with USA but not with Afghanistan people. as we share the same language I was following the social media today and people in Afghanistan are mostly worried about this "peace deal" they think Taliban just wants its prisoners released and when American troops (or some of them) withdraw they will start again. btw Taliban can't be "part" of the government, because they want it all.
  19. actually I think that was the right decision. first Pakistan has no "real control" over its borders, if someone really wants to cross the border he does. better let people do it legally and at least monitor them to see if they are infected or not. beside that, I'm quite sure almost nobody from Iran travels to Pakistan, it's not like Turkey or Iraq where people have business there or travel for holidays, even Afghanistan has lots of cultural similarities with Iran, but Pakistan ? no way. all of those guys were Pakistanis in Iran and after all Pakistan had to let its own citizens in.
  20. it seems so http://www.worldtaekwondo.org/australia-new-zealand-and-tonga-secure-places-at-tokyo-2020-olympic-games/ The W-49kg saw no athlete qualify after an athlete disqualification due to being over the weight limit for that category and two athletes no shows.
  21. Yes Malia Paseka was the only entry for 67kg and grabbed the free quota and of course Safwan Khalil won men's 58kg quota as expected but apparently nobody registered for 49kg ! which is weird because there were 3 girls in the preliminary list, two from and and other TGA/PNG athletes in the list showed up and finished the competition. I was reading the official document, can't see anything there about a situation like this. but I assume normally the quota should go to the next best athlete in the World Ranking which was Yvette Yong from Canada.
  22. just finished watching the finals. the followings qualified for the Olympics and Pita qualified too ! all finals were one sided maybe except 68kg were the PNG guy showed some resistance 68 Thomas Burns 80 Jack Morton +80 Pita Taufatofua 57 Stacey Hymer +67 Reba Stewart no mention of who qualified in other weights in that live stream !
  23. https://unitedworldwrestling.org/article/2020-asian-olympic-qualifier-cancelled-due-spread-coronavirus "United World Wrestling is now considering other solutions and discussions with the International Olympic Committee will be continued next week." I wonder how many options they have left ?! I highly doubt they can find a host in Asia for March, and having the event outside of Asia is also impossible. no country in the world will accept that. also this sport is not like Rowing, they can't mix it into the last World QT, but who knows, maybe they really do that, something like 2 next best Asian wrestler outside of top 2 will qualify too ?! but that will be insane because in wrestling ranking outside of top 6 is random. mostly depends on your luck to meet some very weak wrestlers in first or second rounds and beat them by big score. the world ranking is mostly a joke and they know it, I highly doubt they consider that to qualify 2 in each weight. another idea is what FINA did, considering the last Asian tournament as the AQT but then China won't accept it they didn't participate. or maybe next best 2 Asian wrestlers at the last World Championships ? that's even more stupid bottom line, I really hope they find a host by miracle. all other options are stupid and unfair.
  24. or maybe he is confident about qualifying through the world ranking and wants to help other African nations ?! this just a guess, I'm saying this without checking the official rules and the current WR but I know he is in top 20
