Totallympics Annual International Song Contest 2020
MHSN replied to dcro's topic in Totallympics International Song Contest
only probably ? I assume we have a bit more than 2 hours left ? ---- oops my computer shows today is 15 March but I didn't notice that's only because we are past midnight here, so nevermind, 24 hours is more than enough for me -
UK ambassador in Tehran he probably doesn't know we don't use toilet papers, we have another "technology" but joking aside, nobody raids supermarkets here, they are still full like other days, I don't know what does that mean, to me that shows how people didn't take it seriously yet. I mean at least some of them.

Wrestling UWW American Olympic Games Qualifier 2020

well you never can be 100% sure about anything in sports but I can tell you that's 99% not possible. he has Retherford in his bracket , Retherford most probably will run over him. men's freestyle is more predictable but I somehow think Bermudez got robbed today, I was looking both mats at the same time and I really didn't understand what happened, Bermudez threw Castillo for 4 and was about to pin her but the center ref stopped the match for a reason I'm not sure if I understood. a second before the throw mat chairman told the center ref to "stop" to probably warn one of the wrestlers for passivity but the match is stopped only when the center ref below the whistle so to me that throw was legit and they should let her continue the action which was most probably pinning Castillo. -

Cuba winning more quotas than Canada in women's wrestling is really surprising , and honestly I think right now in a dual Canada most probably will beat Cuba 6-0 (or 5-1 at least) , Cuba only entered 4 female wrestlers and 3 of them qualified ! and I can say none of them are in top 2 in those weights, they just managed to be smart and took the opportunities . also a very good day for Brazil, both of Brazilian girls won their semifinals 2-1 (one of them 3-1 after a desperate challenge) with almost no real score, only cautions and maybe just 1 pushout. that's the advantage of being very good defensively . women's wrestling used to be much more high scoring but now they are learning from men's freestyle to be more conservative and not give up easy points. -

indeed they really should won at least 2 quotas. I don't know what happened to Valverde , Cuban girl was weaker than her but she woke up very late, also very bad tournament for Venezuela and also Colombia (despite winning 1 quota) not a good weekend for countries with similar flags -

WOW. what a surprising quota for Mexico Morais did the same mistake 3 times, she escaped twice but finally Valencia pinned her. that probably made up for Romero's heart breaking defeat in last 2 seconds, -

Semifinals 50kg: Castillo vs Guzman MacDonald vs Hildebrandt 53kg: Valverde vs Montero Winchester vs Stewart 57kg: Maroulis vs Rodriguez Valencia vs Morais 62kg: Miracle vs Fazzari Nunes vs Griman 68kg: Lappage vs Ayovi Sovero vs Sanchez 76kg: Wiebe vs Reasco Olaya vs Ferreira We will have 3 CAN/USA in the semifinal, one because of the draw, 2 because Canadian wrestlers lost a match in the group stage. -

Just noticed the Cuban guy for 125kg freestyle is NOT Oscar Pino but that guy Pacheco who won the PanAms Greco Championships few days ago. I wasn't wrong when I said one wrestler can't qualify in two different events. Pino won the quota for Lopez and now he needs someone else to win quota for him ! I'm almost sure Cuba didn't know that and that's why they brought Pino to Canada. this guy Pacheco probably never wrestled freestyle before. he is super strong but still freestyle is different. -

wow. what a match 97kg final I'm glad they didn't cancel the finals. you rarely see such high scoring match in this level between two World level wrestlers specially at heavyweight. Cuba won 11-8 but Hancock threw him for 4 to win it 12-11 which later annulled because it was a moment after 0:00 -
to give you an answer, I refer to an interview I heard from one of Afghan top health officials. he was worried that people in Afghanistan don't take those advises seriously. that they are in big trouble but still nobody knows that. he said Iran has a "very very strong" health system and look how much trouble they have right now. if they consider our health system very very strong. you can imagine how good they are. as far as I know so many people from Iraq and Afghanistan come to Iran for medical treatment. even though in this case I believe this is more about management rather than having very good doctors. but mismanagement in Afghanistan is pretty common. they are even worse than us. I guess you guys don't follow the news (who does these days) but Afghanistan is deeply in trouble politically, two guys announced themselves president at the same day !! and the president "had" to sign an order releasing 5000 Taliban members (against people's wish) just because USA ordered them to do. right now Corona is not really their concern, and that's very dangerous.
-
what's interesting for me is almost all of our neighbors are almost Corona-free ! I know if someone checks the map all central and Northern provinces are deeply involved with this. not borderline provinces but still so many people traveled to those neighbor countries directly from Tehran before any of them close the borders, Afghanistan border is still open (not that so many Iranians travel to Afghanistan, but there are so many Afghan workers here coming and going regularly). I guess our neighbors are either very lucky, have super strong genes or simply don't test anybody ! here most provinces are closing everything one by one, still no "nationwide" rule about it. but apparently we are suppose to hear something "very important" tomorrow or at least in next couple of days. that's probably shutting down everything completely in Tehran. but according to some military officials they have order to make everywhere "less crowded" starting from next 24 hours.

while I agree with you that finals are unnecessary but UWW is not really open minded about trying new formats. they have a fixed format which they use for every single competition and OQTs are no exceptions. I expect lots of walkovers in the finals. even though for some of these wrestlers this is just another opportunity to wrestle one more and test themselves. kind of a preparation match. -

By cancelling the European Championships, WKF will count 2019 results which means the current ranking will remain the same, even though it's really hard to imagine they can have that last K1 event in Madrid but I still consider that as a possibility, this is how ranking looks like and this is the list of 100% qualified athletes. Men's Kata Damian Quintero - 10117.5 Q Ali Sofuoglu - 6892.5 Q Antonio Diaz - 5205 Q Mattia Busato - 4650 Q Men's 60kg Darkhan Assadilov - 10387.5 Q Angelo Crescenzo - 8850 Eray Samdan - 7912.5 Crescenzo is 100% qualified if less than 32 athletes register which is really possible considering the situation, Samdan needs to win the gold, Creszenzo losing the first round and also needs at least 33 athletes in the draw. looks almost impossible Men's 67kg Steven Dacosta - 8940 Q Vinicius Figueira - 6832.5 Ali El-Sawy - 6472.5 Men's 75kg Bahman Askari - 9262.5 Q Luigi Busa - 7740 Q Rafael Aghayev - 7005 Q Stanislav Horuna - 5707.5 Thomas Scott - 5047.5 Men's 84kg Ugur Aktas - 10372.5 Q Zabihollah Poursheib - 9225 Ivan Kvesic - 7087.5 Men's +84kg Sajjad Ganjzadeh - 8617.5 Jonathan Horne - 8062.5 Gogita Arkania - 7080 Horne only has to participate in Madrid to qualify, even not participating most probably won't hurt him. but if Horne makes up for almost 600pts difference with Ganjzadeh that will change so many things. Kevsic and Arkania can't do anything themselves, their fates depend on Horne and Ganjzadeh. Women's Kata Sandra Sanchez - 12322.5 Q Viviana Bottaro - 7275 Q Grace Lau - 6300 Q Sakura Kokumai - 5887.5 Q Women's 50kg Serap Ozcelik - 11302.5 Q Sara Bahmanyar - 5647.5 Bettina Plank - 5197.5 Women's 55kg Anzhelika Terliuga - 9472.5 Q Wen Tzu-Yun - 7080 Q Women's 61kg Yin Xiaoyan - 10545 Q Giana Lotfy - 7710 Q Merva Coban - 7027.5 Q Jovana Prekovic - 5482.5 Haya Jumaa - 5137.5 Rozita Alipour - 5107.5 Gwendoline Philippe - 4890 Leila Heurtault - 4515 Women's 68kg Irina Zaretska - 9247.5 Q Elena Quirici - 6525 Gong Li - 6412.5 Feryal Abdelaziz - 6075 Silvia Semeraro - 5730 Women's +68kg Hamideh Abbasali - 6997.5 Q Meltem Hocaoglu - 5677.5 Eleni Chatziliadou - 5655 Sofya Berultseva - 5467.5 Clio Ferracuti - 5017.5 ----------------- so in short I can say 2 athletes qualified tonight with this decision Wen Tzu-Yun Merva Coban -

that's a good news but then as you said Japan will most probably take that quota. I was hoping/expecting Japan to win the Vault quota but their guy failed to even reach the final. and High Bar quota also will go the Netherlands and not Japan. so I guess no Olympics for Keikha unless he does something extraordinary tomorrow. even winning the gold is probably not enough. -
Wrestling UWW American Olympic Games Qualifier 2020

Let's take a look at what happened today, I got only 8 out of 12 qualified athletes correctly. not really good considering some of them were easy picks. in those 4 matches I was wrong, only in one of them I was completely off. but other 3 could go either way. 59kg: Orta and Hafizov as expected Orta had hard time against Colombia in first round but narrowly survived, SF was easy for him. on other hand Hafizov beating Montano was huge surprise to me. I think Montano came to the mat with too much confidence. he only found out that when he was down 3-3 with 2 minutes left and he was already out of gas. with a better strategy he could beat Hafizov quite easily. Hafizov is old but coming from Uzbekistan he knows wrestling very well. 67kg: Horta and Sancho Horta had some problems against Ecuador in first round but then to my surprise dominated Brazilian guy Junior in the semifinal. he deserved the quota with no doubt. no much trouble for Sancho, he needed one opportunity in both of his matches to score big points and then he was OK defending his lead. 77kg: Vargas and Pena Vargas won two tough battles to qualify, I think Rivas (VEN) was better than him in the first match but was careless and gave up two takedowns on his own tries. bottom half was more interesting, Pena narrowly beat Cuero (COL) only 2-2 but then SF against Smith was much easier. feel sorry for Cuero he almost beat Pena. 87kg: Gregorich and Rau no trouble for Cuba, the only interesting match in this weight was Rau vs Avendano in QF, Avendano had 4-0 lead and then 4-3 lead in last minute but ran out of gas and a last minute pushout sent Rau to the Olympics. Avendano had to wrestle Colombia in the first round while Rau had a bye. maybe that was the reason Avendano was tired at the end. 97kg: Hancock and Rosillo no surprise, but Mejia of Honduras had his golden chance in first round, he could beat Rosillo and in that case he could face Venezuela in SF and not Hancock. he also got injured in his first round match which made him even weaker. both semifinals were one sided. 130kg: Soghomanyan and Acosta Acosta and Adam Coon were the only "World Medalists" in the entire Greco-Roman competition and they faced in the first round, I was expecting a convincing win for Acosta but one 2pts caution made it close and Acosta was lucky to survive at the end. on other half Perez from VEN was leading 3-0 and looked in control but then when he went for a takedown he slipped and Soghomanyan scored takedown and back to back gut wrenches. I think Venezuela was the biggest loser today, they were close for 2 or even 3 quotas but finished the day empty handed. unlike previous editions I expect wrestlers to take bronze medal matches more seriously. there is always chance for someone to fail a drug test. -

Cuba will have a full team in Greco-Roman, they qualified 2 in Nur-Sultan and 4 more here. Pena and Orta had hard time in at least one of their matches but it was easy for Gregorich and Rosillo. I think only Egypt is capable of doing that, it will be hard for any other country even Russia to qualify all 6 weights. and Cuba can also do great in Tokyo in Greco-Roman, Borrero and Lopez are big favorites for gold. and winning a medal is not really impossible for Gregorich and Rosillo. -

since there is nothing else to follow FIG World Cup in Baku, qualification results https://agf.az/ups/files/competitions/206/qualchf_day_2_mag_&_wag.pdf https://agf.az/ups/files/competitions/206/qualchf_day_1_mag_&_wag_.pdf @Vic Liu China is leading in ranking in some men's events, but only 1 quota is available for each country, do you know which one is supposed to qualify ? even though I'm not sure if that's China NOC's decision or the gymnast with the highest score will qualify automatically. Liu Yang (rings) and Weng Hao (pammel horse) already have max 90pts and You Hao (Parallel) can join them too. folks in Iran apparently don't know China and Japan still can qualify individuals despite having a team qualified earlier ,so they report if Keikha wins the gold he will qualify which is wrong, it's mostly up to China and Japan and not Keikha himself. -
hard to be calm these days that was a very good example. I'm not mad at American journalists, they usually write these kind of nonsense without knowing a shit about other countries. I get used to it. I rarely remember such things from journalists who actually traveled to Iran though I'm mostly mad at those Iranians giving them these kind of information. specially twitter is full of these kind of videos. most of them by fake accounts. this is their way of "fighting" the current corrupt regime, by being more corrupt ! this is disgusting to consider this as an opportunity. China did a remarkable job monitoring everybody, tracking every single infected person, that's simply not possible here, and if officials don't take a drastic decision like what Italy did we are going that path to need mass graves . I give up on people to be responsible. we have the Persian new year in few days, which means more traveling, more partying, more kissing, more hugging and of course more coronavirus.
