I love the NBC swimming commentary team.   Still think that 400 free women will be tight in the Olympics.   Titmus is so above Ledecky it wouldn't even be close.

You're right, but they are US announcers talking to a US audience, and Rowdy is a bit of a homer.  NBC also wants to hype this race so the casual fans will watch on the first day.

The following athletes are confirmed to receive their Olympic medals at Champions Park on August 9 2024 because of disqualifications due to doping:

    • London 2012 – Athletics, Men’s High Jump
      • Gold: Erik Kynard (USA)
      • Silver: Derek Drouin (CAN)

I'm happy to see Erik Kynard on this list.  In the past, he had expressed some negative feelings about being upgraded. I'm glad to see he will finally accept the gold. Then I wonder why Barshim is not listed as getting silver.  I've wanted to see the new 2012 Olympic gold medalist on the podium with the 2016 and 2020 gold medalists joining him.

I think it’s only theoretically possible in a handful of sports

Archery - maybe the Korean women?

    Equestrian - very unlikely

Golf - American men/women. Korean women?

Athletics the one with most chances? Ethiopia did it in women’s 10,000m last year at world champs.

Besides those, Cycling, Fencing, Tennis, Triathlon, Skateboarding and Surfing.  In surfing - US women could sweep.

  5. I see no one from US has responded to this.  I've tried to come up with a list of most significant/infamous US moments across Olympic history, not my 5 moments.

    1.  Jesse Owens 4 gold medals in 1936.

    2.  1980 US Ice Hockey team (although I personally believe the 1960 ice hockey team was a greater sports accomplishment).

    3.  1972 US Basketball team.

    4.  1994 Womens figures skating.

    5.  Frank Shorter 1972 Marathon (because it really triggered the running revolution in the US).
