Very happy for Canada. It looks like the only disciplines we won't be participating in will be Greco-Roman wrestling, rhythmic gymnastics and water polo. Plus handball being the only entire sport in which we won't qualify in

Update (Remove)
Men's -73kg (Judo)
Men's +100kg (Judo)
Men's -73kg (Judo)
Women's -52kg, Women's -57kg (Judo)
Women's -48kg (Judo)
Men's -90kg (Judo)
Men's -100kg (Judo)
Women's -63kg (Judo)
While that is a large chunk removed it looks like we will not get lower than 2012's number of nations which failed to qualify without a wild card (27). We are currently at 32 with only Bangladesh in golf having a very good chance at being removed. Something special would have to happen in athletics between now and July for there to be any chance.

Yeah, Canada doesn't have its fate in its own hands, they need Poland to win one more set than China against their respective opponents.

In order to receive a "wild card" in athletics, is a nation obligated to have participated in the previous World Championships?
No, but there are restrictions. NOCs can't enter in the combined, 3000m steeplechase or 10000m events. Also athletes wanting to participate in field or road events must prove to the technical board that they have the ability to perform in those events.

Brazil confirms the addition of the men's 4x200m free and women's 4x100m medley relays. Three more athletes have been added to their roster.

The best explanation I can give for Argentina qualifying is that since the US only used 2/3 of its athlete quotas from the Pan American Games the other one had to be reallocated. Since you can't give 1 athlete quota in the C2 it goes to the C1, making it go to Brazil and then the host quota goes to Argentina.

But yet again, UCI seems to not know its qualifying rules as in their document they are awarding a quota to Colombia

I think I figured it out. Brazil qualified an athlete by having someone in the top 100. The reallocation of host quota goes to the highest ranked nation without a quota which is Colombia.

While I think pro boxers should participate in the Olympics I feel it is a bit late to change the rules.

I cheated
Archery – Will one of the top eight seed suffer an upset in the first round?
Athletics – Will Usain Bolt win triple gold (men’s 100m, 200m, 4x100m relay)?

Basketball – Will the United States win gold in both tournaments?
Boxing – Will Cuba win the most gold medals?
Canoeing – Will a non-European team win a canoe slalom medal?
Cycling – Will there be a crash during the final of the BMX events (men or women)?
Equestrian – Will more than three teams finish with more than 1000 points in one event?
Fencing – Will a different nation win gold in each of the four team events?
Field Hockey – Will there be a penalty shoot-out in one of the gold medal matches?
Football – Will an African nation win the gold medal?
Golf – Will a nation win multiple medals in the same event?
Gymnastics – Will an athlete win medals in all of the individual events (men or women) in artistic gymnastics?
Handball – Will a non-European team win a medal?
Judo – Will a nation win its first gold medal?
Modern Pentathlon – Will a non-European athlete win a medal?
Rowing – Will athletes from all 5 continents win a medal?
Rugby Sevens – Will the men’s tournament contain medalists from only Oceania?
Sailing – Will 10 different nations win gold in the 10 events?
Shooting – Will at least one world record be set in the event?
Swimming – Will the United States win the most gold medals?
Table Tennis – Will China win all four gold medals?
Taekwondo – Will a nation win its first medal in this sport?
Tennis – Will Serena Williams fail to win a gold medal (in all events)?
Triathlon – Will there be a sprint finish in any event?

Well, I'm not sure. But seems a bit like wild card to me since the nations can choose event they want. And since it is not based on championships results or rankings.
Well technically they were selected due to having the most athletes with an MQS so there is some measure of competition. Also the nation can choose which athlete to give the quota to, kind of like in weightlifting where nations win athlete quotas and then later choose who to use it on.

Thanks for checking the men's before me getting to it!
But wouldn't Denmark get the individual quota instead of Venezuela?
Yes you are correct.

is like Josh says: Gabriela Diaz is qualified for the reallocation of the host quota.
No the host quota would go to the 8th ranked nation (Denmark). Also UCI is messing up when you click the individual rankings it gives you December 2015's rankings. Using the May 2016 rankings the three individual quotas go to Belgium, Argentina and Thailand.
For the men Ecuador gets the host quota which means Venezuela gets the individual quota and thus Chile gets the World Championship quota.
-
Edit: nevermind this is a rolling rankings.
Also the host quota is reallocated to the next best nation in the Olympic rankings.

2014 Olympic bronze medalist alpine skier Jan Hudec has transferred his nationality to the Czech Republic. I don’t blame him, Alpine Canada didn’t want him and he still wanted to compete.

Sorry, if the question might seem stupid, but i hope that i understood you wrong. Are you really saying that we gave away 2 quota places for only one quota place in exchange? This doesnt seem like something that any person in their right mind would do ... Is there any good reason for not using the other quota place (the one we didnt exchange for the one in womens 25 m pistol)? We couldve just nominated another athlete and then we couldve decided shortly before the start of the competition which athlete we want to "use" ... !? In addition to that: Why didnt we echange the other quota place as well? Were there no other "open" quota places that were given back by other nations?
All of this seems completely stupid, i hope that i understood you wrong.
Note: Of course i am very happy that Karsch will get a chance to fight for 1-2 medals in Rio ...
Note: Wenzel (womens skeet) and Löw (mens double trap) have been nominated for Rio.
Nations are only allowed to trade/swap one quota. So originally Germany had six men’s rifle athlete quotas and four women’s rifle athlete quotas, but they only chose five and three athletes respectively (Daniel Brodmeier and Barbara Engleder will compete in two events). Since they are allowed to make one trade they used it to gain a spot in women’s 25m pistol. However they are forced to decline the other athlete quota.

Which quota? 50 m pistol?
Yes, Italy will only send 1 50m pistol athlete oppose to 2.

Exactly yes. Italy traded a spot with men's 25 m rapid fire pistol. I'm just expecting how did this happen.
Nations are allowed to make one trade. Usually a trade happens because an athlete qualified in two events thus they have an extra quota, but that is not the case for Italy. I'm guessing they really wanted a rapid fire pistol athlete and were willing to give up a quota.

Italy loses one of the places in the men's 50 m pistol? How did it happen?
not lose, trade.

Update (Remove)
Men's 100m (Athletics)
-
I know it was mentioned in parts, but here are the traded quotas based on the update.
Egypt (women’s 50m rifle 3 positions to men’s trap)
India (men’s 50m rifle 3 positions to men’s trap)
Italy (men’s 50m pistol to men’s 25m rapid fire pistol)
Kazakhstan (men’s trap to women’s trap)
South Korea (men’s 10m air pistol to women’s 10m air rifle)
Qatar (men’s 50m rifle 3 positions to men’s skeet)
Russia (women’s 10m air pistol to women’s skeet)
Slovenia (women’s 10m air pistol to women’s 10m air rifle)
Sweden (women’s 10m air rifle to men’s double trap)
Switzerland (women’s 10m air rifle to men’s 50m rifle 3 positions)
China and Germany also traded quotas, but they also declined a quota. Regardless China has lost an athlete quota in men’s 50m pistol and women’s 50m rifle 3 positions and gained an athlete quota in men’s 50m rifle prone. Similarly Germany lost quotas in men’s 50m rifle 3 positions and women’s 10m air rifle and gained an athlete quota in women’s 25m pistol.
-
Some stats.
In this update 29 quotas were given out, 25 tripartite, 2 reallocated quotas from continental championships and 2 reallocated quotas which were declined (one from China and Germany). Seven were given to non-tripartite nations, meaning three tripartite quotas weren't allocated to tripartite nations. Unsurprsingly Netherlands has declined a quota which should have been given to them. The next nations in line for a declined quota are Armenia (15), Morocco (13), South Africa (13) and Latvia (11).
-
I'll need to do some counting, but I think the nations that got two wild cards got 1 from the tripartite and 1 from reallocation. Bolivia has 5 MQS athletes so did any nation that should have gotten a reallocation didn't?

Well he's not in the top 10 so he has to compete with other combined ranked teams to qualify. Of course Nestor + Pospisil have a combined rank of 33 which means they should easily make it in.
