  1. Very cool seeing the slopestyle world championship on the exact same hill that hosts the X Games.
  2. 60% of the score is the quality of the turns, 20% speed and 20% the jumps. Some of the elite athletes on the men's side can actually do harder jumps than what you see in competition, but they are restricted in what they can do by the rules (i.e. they cannot do any double flips). That and since jumps are only worth 20% of the score people tend to be a little conservative. The middle section is really where competitions are won or lost.
  3. FIS is preparing a mixed team dual moguls format. It's been held at some pre-season International events in the Southern hemisphere and it looks like the aim is to have it in the 2026 Olympics.
  4. Not sure why they wouldn’t let vaccinated fans attend. I know that Japan is stubbornly not starting the vaccine rollout, but surely a lot of people who would have wanted to travel to Tokyo will have been fully vaccinated by July. As long as they stay masked up the risk of transmission is extremely low.
  5. “Freestyle Skiing” is really three different disciplines that are kept under the same umbrella purely for political and logistics reason. Same as snowboarding, really.
  6. So Canada is going to miss out on a likely gold medal because of a BS doping case that didn’t go anywhere? Very cool.
  7. The one run format continues to be a joke.
  8. Ask me what I think of Bob Menendez or David Ige :P
  9. lol @ the idea that Cuomo has a snowball's chance in hell of ever becoming president at this point. Less of an internal war thing and more that I have a dislike for his mixture of incompetence and corruption. I don't follow NY politics super closely (since I live in Texas) but even all the way down here the latest stories have been hard to miss.
  10. Andrew Cuomo should resign or be removed from office, and I say that as someone who is a fairly partisan Democrat.
  11. https://twitter.com/ShannonMM9/status/1364642291051159553 The IOC has selected Brisbane, Australia as it's preferred bidder for 2032. In other news sure looks like Surfing is in the Summer Olympics long term.
  12. Where was this Greek team all tournament?
  13. I really wish they had forced South Africa to make a decision before this tournament:
  14. Amazing how has qualified all four Olympics in their existence, given how small of a country it is. That in and of itself is a huge achievement.
  15. Lets be honest, this sort of drama is what we all live for here.
  16. I also haven’t had power (or heating) in almost ten hours now...
  17. That would be incredibly difficult and long to do for either of my countries (Canada and the US)...
  18. Probably because the last time Australia had more than 100 new cases in a day was September 3rd (they have been down to under 10 new cases a day for a while). The situation in the US, though... ya, not good.
  19. Really good course and lots of good racing today. Bankes totally dominated her quarterfinals and semifinals, was happy to see her hang on for the win. Seeing Eguibar win after being so close at home four years ago is really nice. Éliot Grondin is having a great season and he looks to be a great talent at only 19.
  20. Final piece of the world championship puzzle: Aspen will host the world championships for ski and snowboard half pipe, big air and slopestyle.
  21. This is like punishing your kid by sending them to their room (to play on their computer).
  22. It’s not like there aren’t a bunch of vocally pro-Putin Russian NHL players playing for American teams. Also almost nobody in America knows who Mazepin is or what Haas F1 is :P
  23. I’d rather they get rid of Mazepin (to be replaced by Kvyat or Shwartzman) than the Russian flag...
  24. I hope the US pulling out of Yemen will make Russia lose interest, too. Either way I am glad the American government is out of that particular conflict. We never should have been involved in the first place. Now hopefully my other government (Canada) pulls out too.
  25. A criminal probe? xD Is anyone in the BJP not a giant snowflake?
