  1. TBH even if somehow neither Canada nor the US get the quota it isn’t even that big of a deal since the Americas have two quotas (on top of the world championship quota).
  2. Remember what happened in 2000?
  3. Congrats to France. It’s weird, I actually don’t think the French team played particularely well all tournament long given their potential and yet they won the World Cup. And I honestly mean that as a compliment, that this French team was so good they where able to win the World Cup despite having an “off” tournament. This group of players is exceptionally talented and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they win a couple more major tournaments. I think Croatia played extremely well too, and frankly could have won if they caught a break or two in the finals, but that’s Football, and honestly Croatia did get lucky at times along the way (winning two penalty shootouts and whatnot).
  4. It’s a shame five set doubles is such a rarity.
  5. “Theee Lions” is pretty self deprecating, to be fair.
  6. Well hopefully Portigal - Uruguay is a food match too. Not expecting much tbh xD
  7. Mexico is North American, not South American.
  8. Germany beating Sweden but finishing last in their group while Sweden wins the group? Obviously everyone predicted this. Must be pretty rare for the team to fonish last in the group to have beaten the group winner.
  9. France Denmark was a real snoozefest. Neither team looked very convincing during the group phase.
  10. I actually think the highlight of the day for me was Saudi Arabia beating Egypt. I expected Saudi Arabia to be the worst team in the tournament, so seeing them snatch a win was quite nice. Seeing Russia crash land back to Earth was less nice. Group B was way more entertaining than it had any right to be. Iran and Morocco certainly did well, I actually think Morocco played better than Spain today. I don’t think our winner is coming from either one of these groups.
  11. Argentina really didn’t deserve to be seeded...
  12. Probably someome who has never watched a Football match.
  13. Peru deserves to lose based on just that.
  14. Gotta say, so far I am very happy with the VAR system. It’s exactly what I was hoping to see.
  15. Honestly, I’m always happy to see a player miss a penalty when they do some silly stop and go before kicking the ball. To me that’s poor sportsmanship. Rooting for the draw to really complicate the group.
  16. Well, both teams deserved to lose. I guess it’s good at least one of them did?
  17. , and tomorrow. Supporting , and (in that order) for the tournament in general.
  18. Well, they *are* part of North America, at least geographically (and I would argue culurally as well since most of their polulation are Inuit).
  19. I mean Qatar is hosting 2022...
  20. Pretty sure it’s a rule that every team needs at least one American player.
  21. I mean they do that in skating
  22. They are honestly better tham half the core teams. Unfortunetly for them promotion is really fluky.
  23. All the bids we have have glaring flaws, even Calgary currently plans to hold ski jumping and nordic combined in Whistler along with some ice events in Edmonton. At least Sion had excelent venues for most sports, and while St Moritz was out of the way it has *the* venue for sliding sports.
  24. Sion had the best bid IMO, it’s a real shame to see them withdraw. At this rate whichever bid from either Calgary or Western Europe remains standing will just win by default.
