My sugestion: Figure skating: remove the team event quota and the host quota for pairs and ice dance, which reduces the overall figure skating quota by 10. Have the team event quota come from the regular event (so, for example, if Japan needs a pair to complete their team it comes from the pairs quota) and let team event only athletes compete in the regular event. Short Track: reduce by 4. Short track has never used it’s full quota of 120 anyway. Speed Skating: reduce overall quota by 12. To accomodate this reduce field size for the 500m, 1000m and 1500m to 30.

Fairly unhappy with the changes. The obsession with the mixed team events is getting a bit much. Monobob: WTF. Never been runnat the senior level, even as a test event. Four women in 2026 would have been better. Ski Big Air: a no brainer IMO. I know big air isn’t popular here, and I honestly don’t love it either, but if you’re going to have snowboard big air you should have ski big air, too. It doesn’t require a new venue (already exists for Snowboarding) and the athletes are already there for Slopestyle anyway. Mixed Ski Jumping: would have been better to add a women’s large hill event IMO, along with a women’s team event for 2026. Mixed Short Track: ...this event does not exist yet. Mixed Aerials: was resigned to this because the Olympics are in China. It’s a really bad event IMO. Mixed Snowboardcross: this makes no sense as a team event. Due to the nature of the event it should be a men’s and a women’s event. It doesn’t even have to increase the athlete quota.

TBH even if somehow neither Canada nor the US get the quota it isn’t even that big of a deal since the Americas have two quotas (on top of the world championship quota).

Congrats to France. It’s weird, I actually don’t think the French team played particularely well all tournament long given their potential and yet they won the World Cup. And I honestly mean that as a compliment, that this French team was so good they where able to win the World Cup despite having an “off” tournament. This group of players is exceptionally talented and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they win a couple more major tournaments. I think Croatia played extremely well too, and frankly could have won if they caught a break or two in the finals, but that’s Football, and honestly Croatia did get lucky at times along the way (winning two penalty shootouts and whatnot).

It’s a shame five set doubles is such a rarity.
