  1. I hope Won and Seo keep at it, would be nice for Korea to become a permanent fixture in Bobsleigh. Sure Won had a huge home track advantage, but he has proven to be a talented pilot on the world cup tour.
  2. They better not, ties in bobsleigh are awesome.
  3. Fun fact: the last time there where two ties for medals at the Olympics in Bobsleigh was in Nagano. Lets see what happens in Beijing xD
  4. So good to see and on a Curling podium at the Olympics. Very good for the sport.
  6. The mass start would be greatly improved if they got rid of the points and make it a couple laps longer. It was still an entertaining event though, and goven it ads no athletes... meh, I say keep it.
  7. I mean that's what they do in speed skating, short track and figure skating: if you compete you get a medal, if you're a non-competing alternate you don't get a medal. It's also the rule in hockey, last Olympics Switzerland only got 20 bronze medals in women's hockey because one of their goaltender was never dressed.
  8. As a Canadian living in the US and married to an American, this is the darkest timeline - I can't be smug about how much better Canada is in curling for at least four years D:
  9. I would really like to see the photo finish for that race.
  10. 1. Canadians care a *lot* about beating the US the one time every four years they play in the Olympics. 2. Not nearly as much as when the NHL was there, but the feeling in Canada is that the D team losing to Germany's almost A team is still a national embarrassment. 3. Curling is something that does get mainstream attention, especially during the Scotties and the Brier (the women's and men's national championships). It's not one of the top sports like hockey or basketball or even football (either the American or the Association kind), but there are enough consistent fans that it isn't a curiosity during the Olympics like a lot of the other sports are.
  11. Toutant was a surprise, but he won an event where the top two favorites where Canadians. Kripps was the best bobsleigh pilot this year so I don't see how it was surprising for him to win gold here. Certainly a lot less surprising than Jamanka winning.
  12. Canada too, but I doubt anybody will notice.
  13. Sure, but mixed curling is it's own thing with it's own world championship. It's distinct from mixed doubles.
  14. *mixed doubles Feel free to also add mixed curling to have bigger diversity, too And believe me, Curling Canada is as surprised at that than anybody else.
  15. You have to understand that for the average Canadian, the winter Olympics is a hockey tournament first, a curling tournament second and a bunch of other stuff attached to it third. So on paper these where good Olympics but I doubt that's what the average Canadian is going to take away. Also worth remembering that if you remove the events added since Sochi we have less golds than in Sochi, and that if you remove the events added since Vancouver we have only 7 gold medals. So in a very real sense our performance is getting worse and being propped up by the events that are being added.
  16. Hey, that's what happened last time a Canadian sprinted to finish behind two Russians
  17. You know, if you told me before the games that Canada would have the same result in mens' curling and men's cross country skiing I would have been really happy for Alex Harvey.
  18. Harvey finishes his Olympic career without a medal The sad thing is, his achievements will be completely ignored in Canada because the Olympics is the only time cross country skiing gets any TV time.
  19. A lot of people on social media are wondering why the red course was so unfair xD This is so stupid, they probably made the change for the "casual" viewers but they just made it more confusing for them.
  20. Sure looks like Alex Harvey will finish his career with no Olympic medal
  21. Quote from Jasey-Jan Anderson about course conditions during qualifying: "you see people on TV with rakes, they should be using them instead of just standing on them" xD
  22. What's up with the Canadian sleds? They bleed time at the bottom in the women's race and it seems to be even worse in the four man.
  23. It got closer than expected to the host nation winning this event three times in a row.
  24. Only one sport at Tokyo? That’s going to be too easy.
