  1. Good riddance on the 200 events IMO. I just wish they'd replace them with 5000m events rather than with that BS and extremely boring kayakcross thing. Like, I'm all for the X-Gamification of the Olympics. Freestyle skiing is my favourite Olympic sport, I love slopestyle, I love half-pipe, I love ski/snowboardcross, I tolerate big air, I like BMX racing, I'm super happy about skateboarding, surfing and BMX freestyle being added to the Olympics. Kayakcross (I refuse to call it anything else) is a neat idea in theory but it just doesn't work on an artificial whitewater course, and it hasn't caught on in the same way all the other events I have listed above have. The Olympics needed snowboarding, freestyle skiing, skateboarding and surfing way more than those sports needed the Olympics. "Extreme canoe slalom", on the other hand, needs the Olympics to grow.
  2. I didn’t realize Canada has so many young aerialists. Seems like they have been doing a pretty through rebuild of that program.
  3. All those mixed team events have been paying off. It is indeed a pretty bad look. The IOC doesn’t seem to like having dissenting voices be heard.
  4. Take it to the bank: George Russel out qualifies Bottas but fails to score a point anyway.
  5. Doesn’t help that the second and third biggest women’s programs are sitting this one out.
  6. Only as long as the British government lets them. All the devolved powers come from an act of parliament and can be taken away by an act of parliament. This isn't like the US, Canada or Australia, where the states / provinces have powers that cannot be taken away, interfered with or modified by the central government.
  7. The FIS has finally, at long last, figured out what format works for parallel races. And, shocker, it's the one they used for snowboarding until recently. They should let the snowboard people know.
  8. I really like the new event order for Biathlon. Especially the bit about not finishing on three back to back relays.
  9. Always fun when an IF proposes an event they haven’t ever held...
  10. I actually quite like the traditional Judo team event. The monstrosity they are adding in the Olympics, not so much.
  11. Scotland is not an independent country. They have less autonomy than an American state or a Canadian province. They have devolved powers, but they can be taken away at will by Parliament. The confusion is that Scotland (like Wales, England and Northern Ireland) is a country within the context of the United Kingdom, but that’s just what the UK calls it’s top level subdivision. It isn’t a country in the sense of being an independent nation.
  12. You know what, I'm would be super okay with snow volleyball, cyclocross and cross country running being added to the winter games. They don't require any permanent venues and they would open up the winter Olympics to regions who aren't traditionally very involved in them.
  13. They should be encouraged to skip stages when they may have COVID, not punished for it.
  14. I really think they need to modify Olympic qualification, too. The current system isn't particularly fair given COVID.
  15. TBH I find this even more impressive that the game against New Zealand. Not because the result itself is that impressive, but rather because they came back just a week later and fought extremely well. Argentina has a real shot of winning this tournament now.
  16. The second run for the women was a ridiculous splatterfest, everyone either crashed, DNSed or aborted their run.
  17. Georgia has certified it's results, after the hand recount was completed. Biden wins the state.
  18. Nice to see two Canadians qualify. Going to enjoy it because I doubt it will be happening super often xD Soukup got out of qualifying in a world cup for only the second time in his career. Solid job from Boyd-Clowes, too.
  19. I knew it, Hugo Chavez rigged the election for his close ally Joe Biden. Even from the grave Chavez delivers, what a guy. I bet George Soros is involved to. Once all is said and done Trump will win well over 500 LEGAL electoral vote.
  20. They are just embarrassing themselves at this point.
  21. Thiem reportedly now plans to compete in the 2021 Olympics. https://olympics.nbcsports.com/2020/11/14/dominic-thiem-olympics-tennis/
  22. LA has a big Armenian community, the LA Times is going to have that bias.
  23. I had faith :P He’s always been quite good in the wet.
