    I feel like short track rules and referring has actually gotten pretty good. At the world cup they also do a good job showing the incidents that lead to penalties ever since the confusing women's relay finals from 2018.

    Sure sounds like those BBC pundits got really used to Britain's decade of dominance in track cycling and assumed it must be the state of the world for ever.

    Really curious to see how well Mitchell can do here. She came sort of out of nowhere to get the 500m time trial world record but, as far as I know, she doesn't have a ton of experience.

    First ever Olympic victory in wrestling by . San Marino has done a great job developing wrestlers by... lucking out that a good American wrestler happened to have a great-grandmother form San Marino :P

    Both Vincent and LVL won their heats in the women's C-1 200m. They didn't have the fastest times among heat winners, but I don't think we can read too much into that.

    I'd offer sympathy, but Canada's two summer golds in team sports are both from 1904, so we don't even have video of them. (Not counting the ice hockey gold from 1920, since that later became a winter Olympic sport)

    Me, 30 minutes ago: there is no way anyone has a more disappointing Olympics than the Canadian women in beach volleyball. Turns out I was wrong. That's a gut punch for Poland
