  1. Here is what the venue looks like: https://twitter.com/lilimichelena/status/1415423999115366400?s=21
  2. Lol based on what you wrote one would expect an unelected government was doing something unreasonable.
  3. Agreed, I am extremely pessimistic about her chances, but I hope I am wrong.
  4. Canada *really* stretched the rule by selecting Laurence Vincent-Lapointe for their women’s K1-500m quota and entering her as a double starter in her two actual events (women’s C1 and C2). I suspect she will make no effort to make it out of the quarterfinals in the K1-500, assuming she even starts (the C1 event is on the same day). I actually do like this rule change, though. If the IOC is forcing you to treat every athlete quota like a precious resource you might as well get the most use out of each one.
  5. Her hometown is listed as Kamloops, but I’d be more than happy to claim her for NB. She happens to originally be from my hometown. Also, random fun fact: the entire 2013 Canada Games women’s 2000m Steeplechase podium are now Olympians.
  6. I will be the official cheerleader for team New Brunswick Why is New Brunswick the most exciting provincial delegation? Well, three reasons: It’s my home province :D It’s one of only two provinces to have a country flag on Totallympics, and doesn’t have a boat or a lion on their flag 100% of New Brunswick’s athletes are competing in the 3000m Steeplechase, which is the best event in the Olympics. Geneviève Lalonde is following in the footsteps of fellow New Brunswick Steeplechase legend Joël Bourgeois
  7. I’m guessing she isn’t making it out of the heats… xD
  8. It’s objectively good for the sport if the US just doesn’t waltz to easy gold medals all the time.
  9. He posted a pretty damning YouTube video a couple months ago.
  10. After what happened with the Denmark game I think this is the just result. England really should have done better in this shoot-out tho. This stutter step bullshit is not the way to go.
  11. Pretty sure McGregor is completely done now. Either way, I don’t want people to get injured but if McGregor was to break someone’s ankle I’m glad he broke his own. Maybe it will humble him a little (not likely given the post fight interview).
  12. This generation of Argentinian players were quite overdue for a major trophy (to go along with all those Olympic gold medals). Glad they won this.
  13. Is this the next Athens 2004 men’s basketball team for the US?
  14. I believe the strategy all along was to use Tokyo 2020 to aggressively promote Peacock. Obviously those plans were delayed somewhat by COVID.
  15. Hopefully NBC Sports will have a quad view player this time (one can dream).
  16. Welp, time to be a cal e subscriber for exactly one month *sigh* I mostly used CBC for 2016 (they had a better video player than NBC) but the VPN can only support so many video feeds.
  17. Did they come up with a better tie-breaker than “lol lets pick a gender and weight class at random”?
  18. Very little appears to be on Peacock. I guess a cable subscription will be required to watch on NBCOlympics?
  19. I cannot forgive how bad the time keeping rules are in football and (especially) in rugby. Total garbage. Steep’s Olympic mode remains by far the best Olympic game ever made :P
  20. It’s definitively something you can leave on the background and pay attention to when the waves pick up. There can be pretty long periods of relative inactivity. This is likely to be the case fairly often in Tokyo since the waves aren’t expected to be particularely good. But it’s definitively something that can be enjoyed live.
  21. I’m pretty sure the lack of crowd will be acutely felt in judo…
  22. Really seems that the US is the only country that could have held the Olympics safely this summer. Going to be very weird to go from full crowds at the US Olympic trials to nobody at all in Tokyo. (I know the Euros have full crowds but I still question the wisdom of that)
