  1. The Canada Games (where all 13 provinces/territories are the competing teams) began in Winnipeg yesterday.
  2. Actually its England and Australia who run away with Canada usually a distant third. However its not like those 3 dominate everything. The second tier nations like New Zealand (mind you putting them as second tier is very awkward for me, but in these game they are) Jamaica, South Africa, Kenya and India among others do well.
  3. Canada received additional invitations: Annie Leblanc (800m), Maria Bernard (3000m steeplechase), Angela Whyte (100m hurdles), Alyx Treasure (high jump), Taryn Suttie (shot put), Kelsie Ahbe (pole vault), Lindsey Butterworth (800m), and Leya Buchanan (100m) and Alycia Butterworth (3000m steeplechase). Brendon Rodney will now also participate in the men’s 100m. Source:http://athletics.ca/athletics-canada-names-2017-iaaf-world-championships-team/#sthash.CwUU71qz.dpbs
  4. lol Russia winning medals, I bet at least one is not clean.
  5. The following teams have qualified. For basketball it was the top 3 in the world rankings, host nation and 4 invited nations. For netball it was the top 11 in the world rankings + host nation. Men's Basketball teams Australia Cameroon Canada England India New Zealand Nigeria Scotland Women's Basketball teams Australia Canada England India Jamaica Malaysia Mozambique New Zealand Netball Australia New Zealand England Jamaica South Africa Malawi Fiji Wales Uganda Northern Ireland Barbados Scotland :
  6. Well for 2020 it was not the IOC's decision, rather it was Tokyo 2020. Japan has no tradition in the sport and of course rejected it. However, with 24/28 going to 'better' squash nations, I would be shocked if we didn't see the sport then.
  7. And retired players like Jarome Iginla and Shane Doan would be likely as well (granted they do not get NHL contracts).
  8. TEAM SRI LANKA MEN TEAM Javelin: Waruna Lakshan Dayaratne Marathon: Anuradha Indrajith Cooray WOMEN TEAM 800 m: Nimali Liyanarachchi Marathon: Hiruni Wijayratne
  9. Exactly, her time in the butterfly final was faster here than in Rio... so its not like she is regressing.
  10. Only 10 teams for the 4x200 relay tomorrow (all in one heat), why can't they all just swim in the final?
  11. Most stupidest relay format ever. What a complete and utter joke of an event.
  12. Wow Canada in the mixed relay with a supposed B team
  13. Its good to see Brazil doing well here, after flopping in Rio
  14. Also Canada's first gold since 2007! Wow.
  15. Congrats Masse Canada's first world record since Annamay Pierce in the 200 breast (2009)
  16. At least they are much better than Algeria
  17. Well Canada did beat Hungary earlier this year...
  18. Omg the nightmare for Canada continues ...
  19. I am sorry but this is annoying.
  20. He got 800 points in the sprint race. He needs to drop that by a further 500 points and has to do that 5 times. It doesn't look good
  21. Oleksiak is not going to win a medal here. She does not look like she is in form.
