  8. Day 2 Preview Couple of medal chances today, as usual. We’ll start off with reigning Olympic Champion (don’t think for long though) Maggie MacNeil, who will compete in the women’s 100m butterfly final at 11:40 AM/2:40 PM, Eleanor Harvey and Jessica Guo in women’s foil (12:30 AM- 12:45 PM, or 3:30 AM- 3:45 PM), and maybe a (very unlikely) outside chance in women’s cross country mountain biking with Isabella Holmgren at 5:30 AM/8:30 AM.
  9. Overall, a quite decent first day. McIntosh backs up her status as the clear second favourite, and winning silver in the women’s 400m freestyle was nice. Also in swimming, our women’s 4x100m freestyle relay and our men’s 4x100n freestyle relay finished 4th and 6th, but the times were actually quite solid so I can’t be too mad. Another highlight was the men’s 10m air pistol qualification, didn’t expect Michele Esercitato to make much noise yet he finished just a few points shy of making it to the final in 17th. Men’s basketball team recorded a nice 86-79 win over Greece to open up their Olympic campaign, although like @NearPup said, I wish they didn’t let it get so close after having multiple semi big leads. With all of that being said, for me our highlight was our fencers Xiao and Arfa, who were on fire making it to the round of 16 and quarterfinals in women’s epee and men’s sabre. For Arfa, that’s a best ever finish by a Canadian man in fencing! As for the disappointments, none were major but probably have to be Derek Gee in men’s time trial (although he competed in the Tour de France a week ago, so perhaps not too surprising), and Felix Dolci in men’s artistic gymnastics (mainly him not qualifying for the men’s floor final)
  10. I agree with you. Now that Sophie de Goede is out due to injury, don’t thrink we’ll make the medal rounds.
  11. Canada defeat Greece 86-79 in men’s basketball!
  12. Bansley/Bukovec fall in straight sets to Kloth/Nuss. Luckily, three teams advance in the four team group stage, so they still have a chance to make it through.
  13. Kloth/Nuss looking good Edit: Please jinx them, I don’t want to face them in the knockout stages
  14. Oleksiak has said she’s in the form of her life (pretty much), I’m not sure she’ll be too happy with her time.
  15. Women’s 4x100m freestyle relay finishes 4th!
  16. Thank you for what exactly?
  17. Men’s basketball team is playing Greece right now. They were 22-9 up, and now at the end of the 1st quarter it’s 26-22…
  18. Medina wins his 1st round heat! @Laraja Started off strong, bit of a mistake with priority with 5 minutes to go (gave O’Leary his best wave), but still managed to come out on top
  19. Thank you! Good luck to Zwolinska tomorrow in women’s K1!
