Hmmm I wasn’t aware! From what I can gather Bob Dylan wrote the song, but Manfred Mann released their version first (in 1968), whereas Bob Dylan released the song in 1970. Does that make it a cover of an American singers song or simply a song written by an American? I’ll have to consult the powers that be @OlympicIRL @dezbee2008 to decide!

Summer Olympic Games 2032 Bid Process
uk12points replied to intoronto's topic in Summer Olympic Games Brisbane 2032
That could be interesting! Maybe the IOC should introduce a rule only allowing new hosting nations to bid since there are already rumours coming from Argentina, India and Thailand about potential bids. After 2 very safe games in Paris and LA they could do with taking a bit of a risk and choosing something more unusual to mix things up a bit! -
Update on Wheelchair Basketball Qualification: The 2018 Wheelchair Basketball World Championships rankings are used to allocate continental quota. The system works like so, every continent starts with 1 quota (Africa, Asia/Oceania, Americas, Europe) and then every nation that finishes in the top 4 wins another quota for their continent. In the Men's event the quota allocation is as follows: ASIA (3): 1 + IN TOP 4 EUROPE (2): 1 + IN TOP 4 AMERICAS (2): 1 + IN TOP 4 AFRICA (1): 1 QUALIFICATION TOURNAMENT (3) In the Women's event the quota allocation is as follows: EUROPE (4): 1 + IN TOP 4 ASIA (2): 1 + IN TOP 4 AMERICAS (1): 1 AFRICA (1): 1 QUALIFICATION TOURNAMENT (1) There will be some interesting battles at the continental championships, some highlights include just 2 quota available at the European Championships for men and only 1 quota for the Americas in Women's. Every nation that enters their continental championships will be eligible to compete at the Paralympic Qualification tournament for the final places as well.

Such a proud day to be British! I was one of those marching through London with 250’000 others! I hope Trump got the message that he and his policies are not welcome in the UK. https://mobile.twitter.com/estherruthneica/status/1017745559640256512

Summer Olympic Games 2020 Qualification Systems
uk12points replied to Mkbw50's topic in Summer Olympic Games Tokyo 2020
Yeah I looked into this and it seems to say all athletes, because some more nations would have been eligible in 2016 that weren’t because of Tripartite quota in 2012 that tipped them slightly over 16 athletes. -
Summer Olympic Games 2020 Qualification Systems
uk12points replied to Mkbw50's topic in Summer Olympic Games Tokyo 2020
I've just been having a look into Triparite nations for 2020 and if the usual rules are used (max 8 athletes over past 2 Olympics excluding team sports) then this is who should be eligible: TRIPARTITE in 2016 but not in 2020: Eligible 2020: AF: (-4 NOCs) AM: (-5 NOCs) AS: (-4 NOCs) EU: (-1 NOC) OC: (-2 NOCs) I can't find any nations who will become Tripartite in 2020 having not been one in 2016, the closest is Grenada who have 17 at the last 2 games, 1 over the limit. I feel liek the 2020 list is a better representation of the smaller nations than 2016 and should lead to a better distribution of quota as Honduras, Panama and Lebanon were given quite a few each last time. Potentially risky for Cook Islands, Syria and Congo who may struggle to qualify athletes outside of tripartite/universality quota. -
Cross-Country Skiing 2017 - 2018 Discussion Thread
uk12points replied to dcro's topic in Cross-Country Skiing
I don’t get why he couldn’t just train in Norway, maybe with the team but compete for Korea? That’s what Andrew Musgrave and the GB team do for some of the year and I’m sure many other teams do as well!
