Artistic Gymnastics FIG World Cup 2021 (Doha)

Recommended Posts

China is reportedly withdrawn from Doha World Cup stage to avoid quarantine back to China and keep the consistent training pace before the OG. Especially there are two more internal trials on 24th June and early July.

It’s a dangerous decision to make. China may lose the World Cup quota if all 3 main opponents win the event with a specifically targeted score. I think there is 20%-30% possibility.

So it’s see if Greece will seize this opportunity.

Petrounias 15.133 in qualifying. He needs 15.334 or better in the final to go to Tokyo. At the recent European Championships, he had 15.366 in qualifying and 15.400 in the final, so hopefully he can repeat that here.

A Greek website but it only has for men's rings. Colak was second and Zanetti was third. Radivilov was 4th in qualifying with 14.633

I'm so nervous, I don't think I will sleep much tonight :(

For Petrounias this will be harder than the Olympic final...it would be really amazing if he qualifies. Greece has had enough disappointments during this qualification period in various sports, really hope tomorrow won't be another one...

Yes it is literally an olympic gold or not for Petrounidas and Greece. Although it will reduce İbrahim Çolak’a chances at olympics I still suppprt Petrounidas. An athlete this good should be at the olympics.

What does Petrounias need to do to qualify? I mean, if him qualifying means he has such a huge chance of Olympic gold (presumably because he's the best), surely he has an equally huge chance of winning here and only some rare mistake could keep him out of it? :p

Or is it some sort of ranking and is winning not enough for him, but he needs certain other athletes to have certain results?

.

Him winning is not enough, he has to score really high, I believe more than 15.330 which rareely happens even for great athletes such as Petrounidas. But he did it in European Championships so I would say he has 50% chance

    • Interesting, for only 2 months i think i have seen some kind of coin from all of the big countries - Germany, Italy, Spain, Holland, France, Portugal, Belgium, Finland, Ireland and yes the 2 euro from Croatia. But some of them were the smaller ones, 10, 5, 2 cents.    Expectedly there aren't any from the smaller countries so far. Nothing from the Baltics, Cyprus, Slovenia, Malta, Andorra etc. But also a bit surprising i haven't seen any from Greece yet.    Don't know from what part of Italy are you, but it's safe to say that when summer hits there will be a lot of Bulgarians visiting Rome, so i'm sure they'll bring some of our coins to spread around.
    • I choose to collect only coins in circulation (and I have also found coins in circulation that should not be on the market; you can find a bit of everything). From my experience, it takes 4-5 years for coins to reach southern Italy, so I have no idea how it will work in Bulgaria. Incidentally, I am curious to see when I will see my first Bulgarian coin. I have not yet seen a Croatian coin (introduced in 2023!).
    • Yes, i saw that there are a lot of commemorative coins. But to get some of those, i would need to buy them, as i don't know how much of them are in circulation. And the chances of such making it to Bulgaria are rather slim.    Still, if i find some sports ones on a good price, maybe i will order a few.

    • Don't know if someone else is collecting Euro coins, but since we joined the zone it's been fun looking at what you can get.    It took only 2 months, but today i finally got my first Slovakian coin.  @hckošice
