Shooting Qualification to Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games

Recommended Posts

Countries eligible for one of the 24 Tripartie invitations (these have at least one MQS and have not qualified a shooter). Only 15 are eligible, and keeping in mind only max 2 per event. For ex. :AFG and :MDV only have one MQS in Air rifle men. Will both be given the quotas just based on no other athlete being eligible? The qualification system is not clear enough

:AFG

:ALB

:AND

:ARU

:BAN

:BHU

:IRQ

:KOS

:MDV

:MLT

:MYA

:NCA

:NEP
:OMA

:SRI

@intoronto I wasn’t aware of (or at least don’t remember) any decent shooters coming out of Aruba. What event did they have an athlete get the MQS in?

Some rules fr TCIP:
- Only one quota for Noc (so, if 15 NOC are elegible, remains 9 quotas);
- Maximum 2 quotas for each individual event (@intoronto, in witch event these coutries have MQS?)
- The reallocation of these unused quota places will be done in the same event as the unused quota. Each unused quota will be reallocated to the NOC that has no Shooting quotas but has the athlete with the highest MQS result in that event.

But are much more than 15; also :BARin skeet, :BIH , :BRN , :COL , and others.

He formerly competed for :AHO but since they don't exist, he was sort of shoehorned into competing for :ARU

Not happy with the selection of Indian team. Apurvi is not in form clearly and so is Deepak Kumar. At least Anjum is there in mixed rifle 10m along with 503p but she concentrated so much on 10m that I don't know what to expect in 503p.

Moreover Deepak underwent some surgery I don't know why the current form should not have been taken into account.

Maybe Chinki was better than Manu for 25m. And Arjun/Aishwarya IN 10 m air rifle men.

Definitely not happy with the squad.

    • That was known from the start for  and will be planned for.   Sadly just the reality of sports in North America. Canada and the US are both huge, a flight from Vancouver to Halifax or from Seattle to Miami is north of five hours. Every sports league in North America has to deal with this kind of travel logistics on the regular, so none of this will seem particularly unusual to a North American player.
    • That’s not a long distance, it’s barely a 2h flight and there is no difference in timezone. Easily doable for fans as well.
