What are the quota expectations here? I have no idea if we have a chance here or not. I don't expect anything from Láng for example, this will her first big senior competition.

Lang has a decent PB though (granted, from her home event).

Still, should be the only chance for Hungary here in Stockholm.

Ladies singles:

  • :RUS:JPN should qualify 3 skaters each. Anything else would be a surprise.
  • :USA should qualify 2-3, :KOR should qualify 2.
  • :CAN 1-2. May profit from the ridiculous loopholes and wound up with 2 even with some average performances.
  • And then we get to the part where individual Top 10 equals two spots (basically, one athlete earning more than one spot for the Olympics, only possible in figure skating). :EST Kiibus, :AZE Ryabova, :SUI Paganini, :POL Kurakova, :BEL Hendrickx, :CHN Chen are the candidates for this (definitely NOT all of them though).

Pairs:

  • :CHN:RUS should qualify 3 pairs each.
  • :CAN should get 2-3, :ITA:USA are looking at 2 spots each. :FRA could get lucky 2.
  • :AUT:GER may get the second spot by virtue of having an individual pair in the Top 10.

Yeah, just to confirm, :CAN Canada would qualify two skaters for the ladies' singles even in case their athletes placed 12th and 24th.

But then again, Canadian skating is in such deep crisis, that even this seems like a tall order...

Canadian figure skating is definitively in... lets call it rebuilding mode.

I’d be a little surprised if Canada can even medal at the team event in 2022 at this point. Very different from where the team was during the last decade, that’s for sure.

Yea, never seen a country loose this much depth, ever in this sport. Thankfully OTP has realized investing only in current potential is not the best way of going, so maybe we should see a rebound in 2026 and onward (sustainably).

:CAN Shizas leads, but it appears the other Canadian will struggle to qualify for the free skate. This would mean that Shizas needs Top 10 to keep two spots for Canada.
