nitinsanker 182 Posted September 2, 2019 #8714 Share Posted September 2, 2019 (edited) Fairly disastrous performance in rowing we finsihed in 25-35 range in all the events .....we used be occassionally in the 12-18 or 18-24 range but tis time nothing ......... looking towards the asian qualifiers - In single sculls we finished 5th amongst asian countries at the worlds ( there are 5 slots at the asian regattta ) but with iran not participating here .... we are effectively 6th In the lightweight mens pair we finished 4th in Asian nations and we may not have a berth as there are 3 berthsat the asians ...........but china cannot participate in the asians , so we are effectively third we do have a chance , but its going to be tough Edited September 2, 2019 by nitinsanker strength does not come from physical capacity but from an indomitable will. - Gandhi

Not sure I read somewhere if you get 2 or more quotas you cannot participate in continental qualifiers

Not sure I read somewhere if you get 2 or more quotas you cannot participate in continental qualifiers IN SINGLE SCULLS ( 5 PLACES AT THE ASIANS ) the countries which did better than us in order at the world champs KAZ UZB KOR THAI IRA has very good rowers in Mens Single and did not participate at the worlds , they will surely particicipate in the asians , unless the Indians improve we will not have a singe sculls quota as only the top 5 get quotas ( china cannot particpate of course at the asians ) IN DOUBLE SCULLS ( 3 QUOTA PLACES IN ASIANS ) on the other hand in the lightweight double sculls the countries which did better than us were CHN , JAP, HKG ,.,..... CHN cannot particicpate so we could be in the third place unless IRA or KAZ or KOR particicpate and they have a better team so we have some chance in the DOUBLE and less chance in SINGLES there is a good chance based on the performance we had this world rowing we may not have a single qualifier for rowing , qualification in both events looks highly unlikely Edited September 2, 2019 by nitinsanker strength does not come from physical capacity but from an indomitable will. - Gandhi
nitinsanker 182 Posted September 2, 2019 #8719 Share Posted September 2, 2019 (edited) A poor performance by the Judo team .... the only person to win a bout was avtar singh in the 100 Kgs ........... and he was a bit unlucky to meet Jorge of portugal in the next round who went on to win the gold ....... This is a sport I believe we could do much better than we are doing it is a low cost sport like wrestling or boxing Edited September 2, 2019 by nitinsanker strength does not come from physical capacity but from an indomitable will. - Gandhi

This is a sport I believe we could do much better than we are doing it is a low cost sport like wrestling or boxing We cannot blame govt or SAI. The Federation itself is not doing right things. It has not sent the only one who is in Continental qualification spot to this championship. As for your comparison with Boxing and Wrestling, Boxing is very popular in the some pockets of the country. Wrestling has a tradition all over the country in one way or another. Integration of Judo is tough as people are not inclined towards it's style. It is an acquired taste to say the least.
