Well, Slovakia was one of the very few European countries which didn't recognize him at first. Guess he's thankful for them changing their mind? Or does the new Slovakian government still support Maduro?

Elections coming up in Croatia Sunday. People positive for COVID-19 will not be allowed to vote.

Second round of elections coming up in Poland next Sunday. PM says that COVID is not dangerous anymore for the elder people (aka the electorate of the "ruling"... oh, that's too much said,  I mean "current" president, who, according to polls, had quite a poor frequency in the first round, which might be the reason why we have the second round).

PS. Did I mention that emigrants voted mostly for his opponent and there appeared to be "technical" problem with registration for voting abroad in the second round?

Paperwork always gets lost in the shuffle. There's too much bureaucracy in this world. Imagine if Poland had to vote like USA pressing some buttons that aren't even along side the candidate's name. Civic Platform has run out of ideas how to win back power so they're on their way to accuse Law & Justice of fraud. That's usually the white flag moment when you have nothing left in the tank and scream "fraud" due to lack of better options. Law & Justice did likewise amid their post-2007 eight year slump. The more things change the more they stay the same.

Well, that's not hard for either of the sites as some Polish citizens abroad were stripped of their electoral rights. As that's hard to argue, I will with the first part:

Comparing to they May polls which predicted easy victory of Duda in the first round, they surely are not out of ideas. Neither is Duda - he simply doesn't appear at the debates when he is not given the questions before (of course, questions prepared in favour of himself). Also, quite an interesting dualism in his thoughts - one day he is a big friend with the 'Murica, the next day he calls the station governed by Discovery "the private station" of his opponent...

It's not a case of ideas but rather Kidawa-Blonska being a terrible candidate. She's got a personality of a wooden stick. She was picked so Schetyna could wrestle back control of the party after she got pantsed in the elections which would be blamed on Borys Budka. COVID foiled that plan though.

Debates are so 20th century. Battle is won and lost online these days. Nobody's really waiting for a 90 minute debate to hear more political talking heads on TV. We get this damn politics 24/7 already. I see no points in any debates whatsoever. It's just a waste of time IMO.

Duda has the luxury to dismiss TVN as the Discovery tube, even the US Ambassador said they're biased towards Civic Platform. As long as Discovery doesn't run NATO I'm fine with them being exposed as private venture because they are exactly that after all. They look after their own profit, not after the well-being of 38 million Poles ;)

Vladko Putin is going to pass a new law, which will allow him to be President until 2036, when he will be 83 years old.   The guy can truly do it all.

Here's a toast to ruthless dictators! :woohoo:

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

This is exactly how someone (or a party) justifies killing democracy by rigging an election...

This "random guy" would have been - and still can be - the next President if Venezuelans tried to remove Maduro from office :p

Maybe he will gift all the oil fields to Slovakia if he gets „elected“?

    • Something you do not see often Kutaisi intentionally tried to not win a match twice in regular time and 2 following extra times and in all 3 times failed   They were supposed to win by 7 points at least to keep their chance to qualify in Eurocup competition alive, so when they could win by 2 they decided to not   That was hilarious I recommend to watch both the ends of 4 quarter and both Extra times

    • it's not difficult when you have such a strict policy to enter or leave the country. Or when you have a dictator that can mask number as he wish, if he can convince their people that a highly censored and restrictive land can host a competition like the Olympic Games, i'm sure he can convince no covid case was detected.   One fun fact is that their guards and border control officers were very serious and strict with people from other nationalities when entering the country, but with us it was very different, they would look at our passport with serious face, look at the country, look at us, start smiling and say "Portugal?? Cristiano Ronaldo!!!!"   This behaviour happened in every single checkpoint in every single Central Asia land. It's like a vip pass in this area of the world

    • After four weekends of winter sports, we are slowly entering the middle of the winter season . And, as usual, it's time for statistics that I don't know which theared to put in      After 29 events, 20 different NOCs was already on the podium. After several seasons, Uzbekistan is also back on the podium thanks to figure skating (and two former Russians).   This weekend will be all about ice sports, with a total of 13 events: 4 in figure skating (first stage in Europe) and 9 in short track (second stage in Montreal, since SLC was cancelled)
