It was hard and not classic sprint course. In my opinion, Lampič did not dissapoint, she is not so well prepared this season as she was last year, still I hoped for the final, but those girls were simply stronger.

At least it is good, that Team Sprint is on programme next week, so maybe Urevc can get better.

Sorry, but the course for Urevc is far too hard. Any team need a least one distance athlete, maybe even two.

We will see, I am aware, they are not strong medal contenders, but we will find out in a week time, how far they can reach.

I’m talking about Women’s TEAM SPRINT.  Are Norway, Russia and Finland better than Sweden and USA? I don’t think so. At least they haven’t show that yet. :mumble:

Yes I am also talking about the Team Sprint. And yes the Swedes are certainly top favorite with Dahlqvist/Sundling or Karlsson/Sundling.
In the team sprint the running time for the women will probably be over 11 minutes per athlete, because the course is so difficult, means pure sprinters can't really be used and the distance runner is more in demand. And there the Finns with Niskanen and Parmakoski are very much in demand, although they did not start here in the individual sprint.

And in addition, the race is run in the classic technique, and Brennan and Diggins are one class weaker than in the skating technique. And the Russians Stupak and Nepryeva are much stronger in classic than in freestyle. And I'm pretty sure that Johaug will also run in Norway and she will already be able to tear gaps in the third round.

So the favorites will be more Sweden, Finland, Russia and Norway (with Johaug) than the USA.

Is Johaug even considered to go the team sprint? Even if you are the best long distance skier it doesn’t mean you are the best in sprint. The same for the Finns. Why didn’t they take part in the individual sprint if they are so good and considered favorites?

Btw Karlsson will not go for Sweden in the team sprint. You need to see the difference between long distance and sprint.

I don’t count out any team but for now Sweden and USA should be the favorites

The team sprint is not a real sprint. The distance is 9 km for each skier. Niskanen and Parmakoski are classic specialists and would not have been medal contenders today. Their focus is on Thursday 10km classic. And why is Karlsson out? Apart from that she was already in the final in classic sprint this season.
And there's nothing against Johaug competing, the relay is on Saturday and the 30k only a week later on Sunday.

The result list of the last classic team sprint at the Olympic Games, on similarly difficult courses, already shows that there always has to be at least one distance runner in the team: https://medias2.fis-ski.com/pdf/2014/CC/3063/2014CC3063RL.pdf
The Olympic champion in the individual sprint Falla, for example, was not put up at all, because she was too weak over the distance at that time.

It is 6km for each skier. It’s still sprint since they go 1-2km each lap. Do you really think Johaug, Karlsson ect can act as it is distance race?

So Karlsson should be in the team ahead of Sundling, Dahlqvist or even Ribom? Are you serious?

    • In general, our picture for a little over 1 year until the home games looks like this:     - the women's sector is still based on one Lollo, who is 3 years older than 2022, - the women's and men's sprint sector is based on one Bosa and possibly the young Pergher (0% possobility for medal in 2026), - Ghiotto has made a lot of progress and that is a big plus. It could result in even 3 medals, including 1/2 gold. Our team's performance also depends to a large extent on Ghiotto's form, - the rest of the men's team is basically unchanged. There is Giovannoni in the mass start, there is Malfatti in the longer distances, but they are not competitors on the podium of a major event.   I will repeat myself: if Ghiotto continues to make such progress, we will probably win 3 medals, 2 of which gold and it will be a success. If something doesn`t work out, an injury, illness, etc. (we know from Vitozzi that this can happen to anyone), then it could be very bad

    • Today is a day without Italians in the leads positions. I`m worried that they are not trying to revive this our sprint. There is only one Bosa and he is old. Pergher is young but she is also only one. It is a pity. After the Olympics they will probably 100% give up on the entire sprint. Our medal bag in Cortina will depend 90% on Ghiotto, just like it did on Fabris in Turin 2006. If Ghiotto will be in goodshape, he can even win 2 individual golds + a team medal. If not, it will be a flop. Apart from him, only Lollobrigida can compete in the mass start and possibly Giovannini in the men's mass start.
    • Yup, actually they have just some juniors pairs in the dance event
    • In bed with the flu and few hours of sleep, but at least the insomnia will let me watch the first World Cup stage
    • The news then is that she has not yet been arrested? I suppose Camila when she returns to Italy will have a very unwelcome visit from the Guardia di Finanza.
