Julia Ransom for Team Canada is also retiring from Biathlon.

Also, Eurosport commentator mentioned that Tim Burke and Lowell Bailey are retiring as well.

That was entirely expected, as he already was planning to retire after 2015/16, but came back for one more Olympics (and then won that incredible world title in Hochfilzen).

Yep, he said he wanted to experience the world champs in a full Olympic stadium first and then retire. Sort of a cult hero :d

He said lately that don't have more motivations for hard trainings as he don't see anymore chances for good results considering his age and can't be to his highest level after accident in summer :/

Also after last biathlon world cup stage in Tyumen Weronika Nowakowska will retire, but I mentioned about this already many times :d

I've heard that Gwizdon and Palka (Guzik, habits die hard) might retire as well or are these just rumours?

Highly probably both of them will retire after this season as well, but atm there is no official confirmations, seems both will decide when season will be over, however for Guzik season is already over as she is sick..

Diego Occhiuzzi (ITA, Fencing, Sabre) announced he's going to retire at the end of this season...

his most remarkable success was surely the Olympic Individual Silver medal he won in London 2012 (he also won the Bronze medal in the Team event in both Beijing 2008 and London 2012)...

among others, he also won 3 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals between World and European Championships, always with the Italian team...

    • I`m very disappointed with this weekend. Only becouse of Ghiotto form I`m happy. Unfortunately, the women's team will not function well if Lollobrigida skips most of the training camps and Fontana starts alternately in short tack and long track. It will end with her not winning any medals here or there, because it`s already clear that it will be very difficult to achieve good results in long track. I hope that she understands this, because in short track she has a real chance of winning medals in the women's relay and the mixed relay but in long track not.
    • Tragic performance of the Italian women's team - last place and probably something bad happened at the start. There are so few starts in the team that it will be a problem to even qualify for the World Championships - 8 best teams. After Lollobrigida's return and Fontana's addition, I was counting on much more, but it seems that there are too few joint trainings. With individual quality, we have no right to lose to the Czechs without Sablikova, or anonymous Korea. And unfortunately this start will count for a lot, because there are only 2 more and our chances of playing at the World Championships are minimal. In my opinion with Fontana going from Short Track to Long Trackand vice versa, we won't be much use in the team. Here great teamwork is needed, not improvisation. As of today, there is very little chance that we will qualify the women's team for the games.
    • men advanced to Division A for the first time since 2018 (when they went 1-8). Don't expect much progress next year
    • Ok, but there we are talking about a person who has parents from different countries. Colturi has nothing to do with Albania.
    • There are few people here from Austria, Switzerland, Norway and Finland.
    • The worst editions in XXI century for us were Vancouver: 5 medals (only 1 gold for Razzoli's on the penultimate day) and Sochi: 8 medals (but no gold). Turin was already a prelude to this bad period, although the number of gold medals was ok. Overall we won fewer medals at home than in 2002 and this was probably the only case in the 21st century when the host country won fewer medals at home than 4 years earlier, either in summer or winter. In general the years 2008-2016 were very bad in our sport, both in summer and winter. Only 2018 in Korea was a slight rebuild + 2 fantastic summer editions in Tokyo and Paris. in Beijing 2022 we won a lot of medals - 17 but only 2 gold (If it weren't for Gogga's injury, I think it would have been 4 gold).
    • Totallympics had  users at one point, but I haven't seen any hanging around in a while.
    • In terms of total medals, yes. In terms of golds, I’d be fine with anywhere from 6-8.   @intoronto you don’t think we’ll do better or at least the same? Bit surprising.
    • Tadeucci was very good and took bronze
    • On the Olympics I don't like to count golds to analyse the performance, I think the best data are the top8 and medals. In both fields I expect a big improvement (obviously not on the 'pure' number, but on the percentage of medal or top8 events)
