Dennis 732 Posted December 10, 2017 #211 Share Posted December 10, 2017 Yeah, wouldn't say that the men's pursuit team is a lock either. heywoodu 15,250 Posted December 11, 2017 Author #213 Share Posted December 11, 2017 I wouldn't say Bloemen is a clear favourite by the way, he's not exactly known to be one who peaks under pressure so far . The Netherlands pursuit team has looked like amateurs in two of the three events. FWIW I think Koen Verweij is a heavy favorite since Yuskov and Kulizhnikov probably won't be allowed to compete (even though Yuskov's doping ban was kinda BS). There may be other problems for Yuskov... I’ll believe he can beat Kramer in a championship when I see it. The men's 5.000m can be really exciting, if Sven manages to qualify. One off-day at the end of December and he might not be in. NearPup 3,114 Posted December 15, 2017 #218 Share Posted December 15, 2017 ISU announced the qualification standings for speed skating, baring any reallocation or issues with the 180 athlete quota. Keep in mind most countries won't use their maximum quota due to athletes competing in multiple events. The Netherlands is the only country with the maximum number of quotas in every event. Canada also has the maximum number of athlete quota. The max quota is just an upper bound, a lot of (most?) NOCs won’t use them all.
