Yeah, this is the kind of analysis I'm not interested in, which is why I'd like to hear what an actual expert says. Someone who's not involved with Nigeria or Great Britain at all and who's also not all "big country so it's just because of the flags!", because that stands in the way from seeing the exact rules and exceptions and differences and all those things.

Do you really think the nation's status never plays part? How do you explain the 4x400 m mixed relay fiasco then?

You are very naive. :TOG Gabla with a slower reaction time than Prescod and he's also DQ. What more do you need to know about national flag privilege?

I do think it unfortunately plays a part, but I'd really like an actual expert's opinion first, because there are plenty of examples where the rules are not exactly A or B when looking in the actual rulebook.

I'm not saying what happened is fair, I'm just saying that there are people who know these things a whole lot better than us, and I'd like to hear what they say about it.

I'm not surprised. She wouldn't stand a chance in 200m based on her poor 100m run. Perhaps the hamstring injury was more serious though this is far cry from Liu Xiang's Beijing shocking pull out

It shows GB Athletics are scared of the funding collapse that is coming.

Well, I have to say DAS & KJT are the only two :GBR athletes than can be sold as stars. You have the relays too but it's the depth strenght rather than having a clear run away stand out (like even Ohurougu was). Tiffany Porter just isn't quite there on the global scale IMO.

    • Because of the low number of votes some categories may be cancelled (under the rule that at least two people should vote for a nominee). I may give a few more days for voting but I guess there's just no interest this year
    • In Italy in recent years there is simply been a problem with training new talents and looking at Colturi, the problem probably isn`t a lack of talented youngsters but poor training. Colturi and Collomb were at similar level a few years ago but where are they now? And this is the same year of born - 2006. Since Goggia and Brignone young time we haven`t trained a single champion. It`s the same with men. Vinatzer is wasting away and regressing in development, the same with della Vite in the giant slalom. The problem is it the outdated system which proved effective at the beginning of the 21st century but not now This also applies to other winter disciplines with a few exceptions.
    • Peterman/Gallant will be Canada’s Olympic representatives after defeating Homan/Bottcher 10-5 in the Mixed Doubles Olympic Trials Final.   Undefeated all week long, just incredible
    • Homan with a shot for 4 to make things interesting, but the red stone jams on the yellow stone in the back 8 and they only score the 2.   8-5 Peterman/Gallant with hammer coming home. Almost seems inevitable at this point.
    • Homan/Bottcher convert on their power-play, with a wide open draw for two. With how this game has been going, and that whiff by Brett, slightly underwhelming of a score but at least it’s something?   Peterman/Gallant up 6-3 and have the hammer in the 6th end.
