My thoughts, exactly. If the Games are based on geography (countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea), then there's a limit of nations one can expect to compete. When you consider including other nations based on similar characteristics from a cultural perspective, there's always the risk of defeating the original purpose of the competition and adding fuel for more nations to try and join the event in the future.

Former Yugoslavio was one of the founding members of Mediteranien Games, so Serbia as  succesor country got that right. However, San Marino and Andorra are lndlocked countries too but they still take a part
