Trouble in the Dutch team. Dimeo van der Horst, Arvin Slagter, Jessey Voorn and Julian Jaring qualified in the OQT, but the national team coach has selected the first three plus one Ross Bekkering. Jaring has gone to court to try and reclaim his place now.

Dutch commentator is absolutely puzzled. Half a minute to go in :NED - :JPN, 20-20 and the Netherlands has a free throw.

"He makes it, very important for the Netherlands....and apparently it's somehow over now. So be it, a match with a lot of technical difficulties."

The difficulties were there before the match, which is why it was delayed for quite a while, but being over at 21 is definitely not a technical glitch :d

Expected loss against Serbia and win over ROC, we still have chance for good result, especially when we can see that our guys are playing better with each next match.

    • I'm not sure that's right, I believe it goes group stage record then finish in group play (that's what a lot of people seem to think)
    • So Canada is ahead of Puerto Rico in the second tiebreaker, but currently it's  >  >  in the third tiebreaker.   If this holds up there's going to be a lot of Canadians arguing that Puerto Rico should be eliminated due to the second tiebreaker, but I think the second tiebreaker only applies if all teams have head to head results.

    • about the Olympic qualification   For Olympic qualifying standings, the first tiebreaker is winning percentage over the entire WBC. The Dominican Republic has the edge there after going 4-0 in group play. Canada, Puerto Rico and Venezuela each went 3-1.   The second tiebreaker is head-to-head result (if applicable), followed by runs allowed per recorded defensive out over the entire WBC   good luck if CAN, PUR and VEN all lose in the quarters
    • my guess is Logan Webb with Clay Holmes piggybacking (in the quarterfinals starters are allowed up to 80 pitches)
