You never know, today Italy had two guys named "Andrea" and "Nicola" in men's 5000 m speed skating ...

Andrea and Nicola are tipically men's name in Italy. I never see a woman called "Nicola"

At the one hand i am happy that the german athlete finished 13th, on the other hand i am a bit sad that she missed the next round by only 0.9 points against a russian athlete.

Two questions for the people who follow the competition:

1) Was it a fair result? How far would you say is the german athlete away from top 6, do you think she might ever get there?

2) How many athletes advance to the 3rd round? Can we assume that Laffont will make it? (I predicted gold for her)

I just learnt that the german athletes don't get any public funding, so i think this result is good, is it safe to say that canadian athletes get a lot of funding?

I can't speak to number 1 because I did not see her run, but depending on her age, that is a great finish and could bode well for 2022. For the second question, the top 6 move onto the final round.

Yes, we have a great youth development program for freestyle skiing in Ontario and Quebec, especially in moguls.
