The problem with squash and karate is there are a lot of similar sports already on the programme.

Already 3 racket sports and 4 combat sports.

well, we can easily get rid of boxing...

corruption and the fact that at the Games there are not the best fighters in business should be good enough reasons to make the change (and get Karate back with its full 12 gold medals program -and a more reasonable number of fighters in each category, as 10 is a true insult for a sport that normally lines up to 150 players up in some categories at the world champs -with 1 representative per Nation, not with 100 coming from 1 single place)...

and for the racket sports, we might cut all the doubles and team events off and just keep a 64-player M + W singles in each of the sports...

Who knew that France requires break spinning, bike juggling and surfing in the Pacific Ocean to bring interest in the country. The IOC should really think of their marketing strategy, otherwise the Games could run unnoticed in France.

it would be the smallest of problems...

with this sh*t they're doing right now, they're just going to lose many long time die-hard fans of the Games as they were...aka they're one and only (once loyal) fanbase...

I think coastal rowing maybe approved as a one off... Though they would have to agree to move to Tahiti... The current proposal has it being staged in Marseille

If Surfing, Sailing, Coastal Rowing, and Beach Volleyball were in Tahiti...I’d fly there in a minute for the Olympics.

Maybe they could use Longchamps racecourse? Traditionally a lot of the big cross country races were held on horse racing tracks.

Yes, Eventing Cross Country and Athlete Cross Country could definitely share a venue.

Right, but Squash is quite different the rest. That’s a valid argument for Karate, but it does deserve to be on the program due to other factors.

Literally anyone who knows anything about French sports. These sports do fantastic in France. Breakdancing, Surfing, BMX Freestyle all generally draw great audiences in France.

I'm thinking more of the Versaille Palace's garden...that would be an amazing place to host some Olympic outdoor events like a cross-country race...

A venue already selected for equestrian and modern pentathlon.

They will not lose so many long time die-hard fans like us, because - even if we agree that they make so many bad decisions and there are so many hilarious mistakes in IOC work - there is one truth: THERE IS STILL NOTHING BETTER IN INTERNATIONAL SPORTS THAN OLYMPICS ITSELF. I can't find anything which could be considered as a  better thing to watch.
