Summer Olympic Games 2020 Team Sizes

Canada needs one more team sport to tie our record of nine (when we hosted the 1976 Olympics).

We have four opportunities remaining (men's baseball, basketball, football and water polo).

If we can assemble our best team we'd have decent chances in basketball and football, but that's unlikely (especially since the NBA started its season later).

And baseball there is two chances, with an outside shot. Water polo I'd give it a 10% or less chance.

I agree, we have chances in all four sports. I may be underestimating baseball since Canada is pretty strong once you exclude MLB players (which I imagine is what will happen at the qualifiers). We won two golds and a silver over the last three Pan American Games.

Comparison with Rio 2016. Obviously this isn't final, many teams can still return or gain quotas.

More for Greece now with men's water polo! Also we have 7 in swimming and 6 in athletics so far. I expect to have more in those two sports, especially athletics. We will also have more in rowing for sure.

We will also definitely qualify in artistic swimming, judo, tennis, and we have good chances to qualify in fencing, weightlifting, karate, table tennis, gymnastics, taekwondo, diving, more in shooting, cycling and possibly wrestling and sailing. Also some chances for basketball, boxing, archery.

I am not yet counting the quotas in athletics and swimming because the qualification process is still under way! for water polo I have 13 quotas.

concerning the chances of grace, men's basketball between you and canada, but i bet on you, in individual sport i would say women's saber, artistic swimming, diving, weightlifting and table tennis, gymnastics, karate judo, rowing

      • Also a first: never before has a Dutch pair participated in the games, according to media rapports.
      • The Technical director of the Dutch Olympic Committee has, using his discretionary powers, decided to include them in the team. He cites “extra-ordinary circumstances”, but has not stated what they are. The use of these powers is quite rare. They were used in 2022 to nominate an alpine-skier.

      • Morocco won with second-half goals of Brahim Díaz and El Kaabi      Morocco  2 - 0  Comores
      • I think the points from the test event should be simple to figure out since WC points from 15th on (continuing through the nations cup races) just count down by 1. Why would it be any different? The only thing that would be uncertain is whether Li and Fischnaller get 1 or 0.
