  • 1 month later...

Turkey forced to withdraw due to too many positive cases.

Canada got its win over Brazil, but Georgia gave Greece quite the scare, they were tied going into the final quarter and Greece only won by a single goal. Canada needs at a minimum to finish third in this group which means they need to defeat Georgia (or start beating Greece/Montenegro now rather than later).

Thank you. So the alternate will be included in the team roster or no? Will they be able to play or only if someone gets injured?

Do they get a medal?

As per Olympic alternate rules, they do not get a medal or get included in the team roster, unless they get subbed in at some point.

Once subbed in, they can no longer go back to their alternate status, I believe.

    • Honestly, I think you guys have a much better chance of success here than we do. It's already difficult to maintain this sport, and with this ridiculous format this year, things have gotten even worse. Years and years participating in the elite and we haven't been able to evolve; it was just a waste.

    • Another weak result for our athletics team, which is typical; without Caio or Alisson, our chances of a medal in any high-level tournament are almost zero.   However, Juliana's result in the women's pole vault was a great 7th place. She is improving rapidly and still has a lot of room for growth.
