Incredible world record by Hassan! Rarely see her so happy after a race

Lots of selfies & autographs for the kids, good for her.  :thankyou:

Cristophe Lemaitre struggling for an OQT, still about 0.40 off.

Dafne Schippers running in her pyjamas, seemingly.

Duplantis 5.92 WL, going for 6.0.  Gets it!

Tentoglou 8.48 at Greek Championships today and he was angry about it, he wanted to do so much better but he had four fouls. His other jump was 8.41. On both of his jumps he had plenty of space but jumped too far before the line.

He's starting to look like a real contender for Tokyo.

Other notable result was 17 year old Polyniki Emmanouilidou smashing the U20NR in 200m. Her time was 23.83, the previous NR was 24.00 from 2007 and her previous PB was 24.12. I expect her to improve this national record this year and also in 2022.

And Elina Tzengko finally started throwing over 60m again in the javelin throw. Looks like she might make it to Tokyo after all if she can stay consistent like she was in 2020. Would be great to make her Olympic debut as an 18 year old. Also her U20WR from last year (63.96) is not officially recognized because there was no doping control at that meet, so hopefully she can even achieve the 64.00 Olympic standard in the coming weeks and also have an official U20 world record.

Also our 18 year old heptathlete Anastasia Dragomirova won the women's shot put with a new PB (15.69). Really good for a heptathlete. She said she's only competing in throwing events this year due to injury, but her PBs in field events are really impressive. She has 1.78 in high jump, 6.44 in long jump, and 45.76 in javelin throw.

Lastly some really impressive results from our youngsters in the men's hammer throw. We have so much depth in that event nowadays. Safe to say we will qualify three male hammer throwers for the 2024, 2028, 2032 and 2036 Olympics. It's almost guaranteed at this point.

Lemaitre seems safe over the world rankings and he still has the nationals to come with a lot of ranking points.

If he doesn't get close to 20.40 (at least), I doubt the French federation or even himself will consider an individual participation.

In what other events they have athletes?

True enough, the Kenyans are always trying to find sprinters, throwers etc, but the Ethiopians stick with the usual.

    • I will try for Croatia:    Archery (1) : we never had a representative, but were two times very close. I think we have a chance in Recurve for a single male quota, and in mixed compound,  Realistic one quota    Athletics (8) : difficult as many things will change in the next 2-3 seasons, but let's. say 8, I think that could be a realistic number   Badminton (1) : hopefully our Indonesian import will manage to qualify     Basketball (0): small chances in both male and 3x3 male teams , but somehow I doubt it    Boxing (2): two male quotas    Canoe slalom (1). maybe with a small chance for two places, but one is realistic    Canoe sprint (1): similar to slalom, maybe two, but one is realistic, but lets see how the new qualification system plays out    Cycling (2): would bee very happy with a quota in BMX freestyle and male road race    Diving (1): hoping that Matej Nevescanin will qualify    Fencing (0): very small chance in mens foil, but I guess will not happen.    football (0): there is always talks about our male team, but never succeeded, I am afraid will be the same for LA 2028    Artistic gymnastics (4): Kovtun plus two additional male quotes plus one female   Handball (14): the mens team should qualify    Judo (5): four female quota plus one male    Rowing (5). difficult to say as boats/crews are not defined yet. But I expect 4 mens places plus 1 female. Maybe more, but let see    Sailing (6): somehow not a good development in this sports, could be even less than 6 quotas.    Shooting (5): hopefully two trap and two male rifle quotas plus one surprise    Swimming (6): will be brave here and say 5 male plus one female. I think we have a realistic chance to qualify a freestyle relay.    Table tennis (5): hope for 3 male and two female quotas incl. mixed doubles (Arapovic/Ban)   Tennis (6): still too early, and always the question who is really interested in playing.   Taekwondo (3): I am seeing two females plus one male qualifying   Waterpolo (11): mens team should be safe, small chance for our women's team.   Wrestling (1) considering the Russian expansion, one quota would be great     in all other sports hopeless case for Croatia. But 88 would be a great delegation, probably too optimistic
