Who said you that ? The event will be held without spectators, actually they are building 2 meter high fences around the track to avoid random mushrooming people from the woods. https://www.idnes.cz/sport/lyzovani-snowboarding/beh-na-lyzich-svetovy-pohar-nove-mesto-na-morave-pripravy.A210206_593173_lyzovani_tof

The only issue could eventually be a 5 days mandatory quarantine for people arriving from high risk countries, but the organizers received yesterday a special permission from the governement  https://www.idnes.cz/sport/lyzovani-snowboarding/nove-mesto-svetovy-pohar-v-behu-na-lyzich.A210212_175432_lyzovani_ald

That last one seems promising for the Brazilians who are (supposed to be) coming from Austria on 18 February, of course after being tested in Austria. This thing of "Nove Mesto will probably be cancelled" is going around in the Brazilian team which is in Austria now, but maybe the guy meant it will be 'cancelled' for them (as in, they decide not to go). A certain Totallympian is supposed to join the team tomorrow, which is why it was rather important to know whether or not Nove Mesto really is at risk or not.

Thanks for the links!

youre welcome.

you and Bruna can stay calm, the event will take place (sprints in Sat. and distances 10k/15k in Sunday).. It will be the last season Cross-Country world cup stage.

and good luck to her of course. :cheer:

The problem was 10% about whether or not the races would be held, and is 90% (since today) about whether or not she'll be allowed to join the team tomorrow ('there might not be enough time for a quarantine' - as if they couldn't have said that a month earlier, so she'd have gone earlier), as has been the backup plan since the train problems this week. The chances are growing that she'll go straight to Oberstdorf (if possible) and have a total of zero races before the world championships due to the train problems (first) and team problems (now)...

Outside issues messing up her season's plans, what else is new :(

You meants in Nove Mesto ? they got an exception yesterday from the governement for the event.

Mandatory quarantine for all athletes and team staff competing in Nove Mesto has been abolished, she will just need a negative test before entering the country. that is all.

I am sorry to announce you this but just now in the czech TV, they said the Nove Mesto stage has been cancelled right now due to coronovirus pandemic. Everything was ready and prepared but the national hygienical office send now a message to the organizers about cancellation of the event.

So basically the Cross-Country World Cup 2020/21 is by today finished.

UPDATE

it was not the hygienical office in :CZE but a request from FIS

It looks it was because of Germany and their strict measures, it was FIS who asked the cancellation of the event because athletes would not be able to compete at the WCh, because of mandatory quarantine in Deutschland..so the organizers decided to cancel (officially postpone) the event and want to negotiate with FIS about moving the stage to March as WC final https://www.idnes.cz/sport/lyzovani-snowboarding/svetovy-pohar-beh-na-lyzich-zlata-lyze-nove-mesto-na-morave-zruseni.A210213_135608_lyzovani_par

    • Well, I see that the national competition between mixed doubles and also men increased. Also actually amongst women, too. Before it was mostly Kubeskova team that participated in some international events. This year, Synackova team did really well in the pre-qualification just the final qualification was not that good. But curling is about details. Generally, I am glad to see that there is really much higher competition than it was 10 years ago. And seeing Chabickovsky a Zelingerova making it to the Olympics in such a young age can be really promising for their career as curling is becoming more professional, as we see Grand Slams and other big tournaments.    As for now, I think that in Milano Team Klima and mixed doubles can make really interesting results. After all, they will finish in top 10 so just qualifying to the Games is already a huge achievement

    • Gotta feel for  defending world bronze medalists, but couldn't make it to the Olympics
    • with a steal of 3 in the 8th end,  can't make the last shot to stay alive.
    • Oh yea.  Seemed like they were starting to get some less than elite pitchers, but the commits they've had in the last 12 hours have been stellar.  Now the staff feels like an embarrassment of riches.  They have 3 elite starters and a bunch of guys that can eat innings.  Thrilled what Mark DeRosa has been able to put together.
    • It looks like you guys will be juuuuust fine.   Tarik Skubal, Logan Webb, Joe Ryan and Nolan McLean all committed within the last couple of days.
    • Yay for no disqualifications! Thanks @OlympicIRL for all the work! Getting close.
